Can I ask why a RB20? why not go for a RB25 or 26? Different power when stock or easier to get power out of?  And I'd sort a put a 2jz in just for expirementing, but Im young so I dont no any better. which is why im try to get some answers to improve my knowlegde. thanks!

@mydogzty in my experience it all comes down to cost man. in aus rb26s are expensive and the transplant is a headache. rb20 is smaller and cheaper to build/ repair and sound way better than sr20s :) wish i had an rb in my s13

But the way I see it is the fear exists mainly with everything else un-modified.

A lot of problems occur when lack of back pressure might cause the car to run lean. My car has a removed recirc pipe, and its now running an atmospheric blow off valve, with re tuned injectors, aka my car is running rich, not lean

@jonceballos fuel injected motors do not rely on back pressure to operate, the ecu compensates for reduced back pressure. the less the engine has to work to push exuast gases out , can be used to propel the car more efficently.

Meaning the less backpressure your exhaust has, the faster the turbine can spool.

gutted means its still in there the standard one but the guts have been taken out, the inserts knocked out of it. so it flows thru, it actually isnt a good idea as it causes a flow restriction during high peak volume of air coming through it and it creates a whirlpool in it and slows down the flow. better to weld in a straight pipe into it now.
