I don't know where this "not deep" comment is coming from, but I think someone needs to listen again. Eugene manages to get from his piano what many of the other performers have not -- a variance of color, tone, and volume! Such an introspective performance, followed by one of excitement and drive. Eugene has to be approaching 70! I will never forget him arranging for we piano majors to attend an Andre Watts performance -- and meet Andre afterward.. Eugene is a really great pianist -- still.
Technically solid but "white" and one-dimentional. He is distant from the instrument. It is not a part of him. The token throwing up of the arms is a contrived gesture, which makes this even more apparent. The result is a performance which is drivin into the proper groove over time, solid, uninspired, and emotionally sophmoric.

Marvelous performance. He plays with passion and spirituality dedicated wholly to the integrity of the music. I am very moved by his playing.

A great control of sound and a clearly polyphonic piano playing!
In spite of what others might say, I think this is a 'deep' performance.
A great pianist and a new name to me!

I think it is very fine playing... Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but why be mean about it? Just say that it "doesn't work of me..."
Anyway, a real treat to hear again (the piano playing that is;))
