I'm from Sydney, Aus but have been living in philadelphia, USA for the past 11 and a half months. I will be back home where I belong in just over a month and cannot stop listening to this song. his line describes me to a T "I'm always travelling, I love being free, so i keep on leaving the sun and the see, but my heart lies waiting over the foam I STILL CALL AUSTRALIA HOME" and this is where i break down in tears. Never realised how much I could love my country untill I wasn't there anymore :'D

Nathan, what would shock anyone here who reads your tripe is that you "assumed" that my use of 'unfortunately' referred to black people etc. You must have a pretty big chip on your shoulder son, sorry about that. However, I can advise you that all my 9 children are part Aboriginal, in fact, all my wives and girlfriends since the late 80's have been fullblood Aboriginal. I am a born an bred American, but I love this song and Peter Allen. The world lost a great entertainer. I've always wanted to travel to Australia, but to me the song to me speaks to anyone who is an expat and misses their native country. As an immigrant who calls Australia home and is proud to do so, I find this the most touching, moving and heart warming song ever. I travel quite extensively and when I travel home on qantas and hear the childrens choir sing this song it is pretty difficult not to get a tear in your eye. Yes,I agree with you. I am not an Australian, although I live here 29 years, I feel still Dutch, but when ever I here this song it gives me goosebumps and I get a tear in my eye. And when I am in holland visiting family and friends, I feel that Australia is my home. I'm torn between 2 countries!
