  • They aren't high or aliens....they are just the highest dudes in metal right now...seriously there is not one interview of these guys not stoned.

  • Paul & Sean do a great job of dumbing down their answers to a normal human level, they both could have easily blown this interviewer out of the water with their answers :) Though this interview would have been 5x better if they had an interviewer who understood how to think on the same level as them!

  • and being human... its obvious they are aliens pshh...

  • They're such cool people, they're calm and intelligent.

  • are they gay?

  • @rohanpogi

It doesn't really matter does it. Some people think they are. But gay or straight they exceed all know levels of awesomness.

  • @ChainsawVsGod yeah it doesn't i just wanna know if they are. i agree.

  • Horrible interviewer, he's asking questions that a typical metal band would answer, CYNIC IS NOT A TYPICAL METAL BAND!

  • How can such Calm and Chill dudes create such Brutal music? lol

  • 1:50 on, Sean Reinert says "you know.." 9 times, than Paul picks it up at 2:42 and says "you know...". Hahahaha Cynic is awesome. You know?

  • i think paul is tripping BALLS!!! lol that clap at the end with the odd staring. totaly on shrooms

  • arrogant asshole

  • He Kinda looks for Dan from Corner gas.

  • I love Wacken. Wacken is the best. I can't get enough Wacken. My day is not complete unless I get in some Wacken. Some days I'm so obsessed I have to keep Wacken off just to get anything done. Wacken.

  • @Str8Faced lol

  • @Str8Faced lmfao

  • hahahahaha, didnt expect to see paul make such an odd face at the end, awesome nonethless. cynic is the greatest atmospheric band imo.

  • The interviewer is very good, spot on, without stupid questions.

  • you know...

  • @clubfootforyou Your dumb.

  • cynic is great

  • Genius of life, these interviewer cannot understand how its possible to be different.

They dont need you, they dont need anything, they know what they are more than everything and its the better sensation.

We need more genius like them but today, to make music, we need money and if there is not, genius will be unknown until the end.

    Sad world...

  • Let's count the "you know's".

  • they played with chuck schuldiner..

  • go to the grocery store, umm do you take wacken card?

  • I'm pretty positive these guys are from outer space.

Even if it'd be a fact then I'd welcome more of these aliens!

    Phenomenal musicians

  • Saw Cynic last night on their US tour opening night in LA. These guys are relentless on stage. Freakin' talented musicians. Great concert!!!

  • i love cynic but lets be real metal is bigger then ever they werent making money back then.now they are making some dough cynic is awesome

  • I'm seeing Cynic at the El Rey Theatre in LA on July 22nd!!! ...it's their US headline tour kick-off concert...can't wait!

  • i cant wait for their 3rd album in 2022!

  • Cynic starts a US headline tour in July 2010...I can't wait!

  • this band has magic in their music :) I can rly feel palma trees, beaches and air of Florida ... maybe i am crazy :D

  • @olinkour2121 I've always felt that too. I guess it's a product of growing up in Florida. :) I get a similar feeling from Morbid Angel but it's more a "swampy, Everglades" kind of thing.

  • @peterbguk ye thats so amazing...

  • fucking legends, spiritual practitioners.

  • these guys don't know how to make an interview... the interviewer can not be in the middle, it'll always cut someone.

  • I feel so Inferior to Paul, haha.

  • I met them both at St.Petersburg Feb 4th. Very cool guys. I think he is gay though, still great person.

  • Paul seems like such a humble dude.

  • Yeah really you need to open your ears to hear Traced In Air, it's more progresive and soft than the Focus album, but they have made a new awesome sound over there.

  • Wouldn't call it more progressive, Focus is the DEFINITION of progression. But it definitely is softer and more melodic...yet still a masterpiece.

  • Comment removed

  • @halimski thats not sean malone. thats the drummer. sean malone is their old bass player

  • @555Ryan666 yeah too bad Sean didn't tour with them on the new ep. And yeah that's the drummer.

  • They're touring the US starting January 9th, 2010. I saw them live last year. They're awesome.

  • god Paul seems sooo damn nice.

  • man if i was paul and he asked me questions like that. i woulda been like "The FUCK is it to ya BITCH!" then just flip a table and punch the guy.

  • HEROES TO US !!!

    HEROES TO US!!!!

  • see how Paul is lookin around in the ending? ALIEN!!!

  • Hahaha or just high as a kite! Seriously though, even if he wasn't stoned, he's already way over most people's heads. He's a genius.

  • @peterzord

He's one of those aliens from Men in Black.

  • @peterzord hahaha whats he doing!

  • @peterzord

Rofl.I pissed myself laughing at that.

  • @peterzord dude, funniest comment ever, Cynic's music is definitely for the aliens haha

  • @peterzord

    Masvidalien.

  • I DIG CYNIC!!!!!!

  • Opeth is great but so is Cynic why can't people just enjoy good music and stop coming out here and just putting another bands name. If you like Opeth great I love Opeth too but I am here on this video cause I love Cynic if you don't appreciate them don't ruin it for the others dude. I mean I am sorry but I am just sick of all these lame you tube comments.

    Cheers.

  • man, i'm from Argentina, i didn'y mean that.

i want to say that paul masvidal names the band Opeth which i like very much.

    I love cynic as well.

i'm also sick of this comments that you say.

sorry the missunderstood, and my english .

    :)

  • It's alright man :) thanks for making it clear mate :) Keep rocking.

    Cynic forever!

  • @immortalsoloist I wish everyone had your attitude. Cheers.

  • Thanks man unfortunately not everyone has that attitude long live good music long live Cynic and long live dedicated musicians.

  • @immortalsoloist opeth and cynic are both great! (porcupine tree is better...) *runs*

  • you know.. you know XD

es re chistoso el batero jaja

  • yes! it is! also about the notes you dont play!

  • never thought Florida would kind of have a unique accent. If I compare people from Seattle, Chicago, LA, and Miami, they all seem to have different accents.

  • I'd say all that mixing of unique backgrounds and demographics that you see in Florida (especially in SoFL) would probably produce some kind of unique accent.

  • Ya. Florida is a very laid back place (or at least it seems), and it seems like Chuck's "accent" is quite like Paul's because it's both kind of between whiny and chilled out. So I don't know. I don't even know what my accent is like, but I've been between Seattle accent and Southern California accent because of where I've lived. Luckily text doesn't have an accent.

  • Haha, I grew up in Florida and have that whiny/laid back kind of voice. That's a good observation.

  • Cool. Floridan people all kind of sound timid, like pushovers, but that might be because of the old people. Still, they probably aren't, but I haven't really known anybody from Florida. As for California, everybody sounds incredibly stoned. I don't think I quite sound like that because I wasn't completely raised in California.

  • lol its funny how polar opposite this interviewer and Paul/Sean are.

  • Surprised Paul didn't want to go see Atheist =(

  • Around 2:03 Sean says "only fifteen years of living in the world and being human."

SEE? Cynic are fucking ALIENS. They sing about SPACE, man!

  • Maybe the singer is Xenu!

  • saw them with daath and dragonforce. it was fucking amazing.

  • 5:42 a small Cynic fan on Sean Reinert's knee

  • I thought that a guy was going to appear like from out of nowhere and hit Sean Reinert's knee. Now I get it.

  • hahaha, he blew the fan away

  • Paul is excellent.

    Busy meditating, hahah.

  • don't think he was joking. :)

    meditation is great. ^^

  • Yeah, I know he meditates. I was more laughing at the fact that he said "busy meditating". Meditation is usually seen as something you do when you've got nothing else to do. Being busy meditating is like saying you're busy watching TV, sort of. Just better.

  • What are you talking about?

  • Just watched this band

  • atheist=cynic

  • Man, no matter how many of my favorite bands I look up, there's always at least one bimbo who has to bash it for whatever reason. But not this band.

Literally EVERYONE fuckin loves this band

Traced in Air is a total mindfuck of a comeback

  • Paul's real nice.

  • a progressive metal band, looking forward to seeing another progressive metal band. it's like a brotherhood or something... lol

  • 0:33 pricless expression ahahahah

  • Yey, they are fans of opeth xD

  • saw Cynic live too, they were great

  • i got to meet paul in seattle. superior musicianship.

  • I saw them live, they were AMAZING!

  • I'm glad that the interviewer wasn't asking dumb or inane questions, but some of his questions were a bit much. It was almost uncomfortable watching some parts.

  • They're starting a North American tour next week....YESSSSS!...they rule!

  • Why are there no intelligent interviewers in the USA? Great interview. See you at HOB

    Dr Steve

  • Exactly, because there's no more poinient questions to be asked than what kind of beer they like and whether or not they smoke weed

  • hahah I know I dont understand, every American interviewer is a complete idiot, who either has never heard the band they are interviewing, or is like balls in mouth in love with the band and cant handle asking a good question

  • i love this band. awesome, great fuckin amazing band of the world.

  • I was introduced to Cynic a couple of months ago. They took a while to grow on me but they're very clever guys and make very clever music.

    Whooo, Opeth!

Say the Cynic/Opeth tour in november. Great performance from both bands.

  • Ayahuasca

  • Aww sean and paul are such a nice couple...

  • You make it seem like they are lovers.

  • Cool. Traced In Air is an amazing album.

  • These guys are cool...sick how good the new album is

  • TRACED IN AIR IS AWESOME!!!!!

  • I agree, best album of 2008!

  • sounds like mormans and folkfest

  • you know...you know...lol. Seriously though traced in air is amazing.

  • I can't stop listening to their new CD, it's amazing.

  • I also bought the new CD and I think it's a great album. It has such a wide range. I like every song on it.

  • yep yep..

  • they're talented and cool

  • Met both these guys yesterday at their gig with Opeth in Dublin... They are two of the nicest and down to earth guys I have ever met.

  • I ended up meeting paul there aswell, had to take like three pictures because my flash was fucked.

  • These guys are great. I'm looking forward to seeing them live. Their new Traced in Air album is brilliant. I like every song in it.

  • You can get the songs from Traced in Air on iTunes now! I also bought the CD Limited Edition on Amazon. I love the new stuff....they're awesome!

  • I bought Focus 6 times. I hope these guys get going.

  • 6!?!?!

  • ahhhhhhhhhhh, cant wait to see them with opeth!!

  • That will be an amazing show

  • Hell yeah!

  • pauls a champ

  • 2:29 - 2:35 -> Anti-drug example.

  • I don't get this comment

  • Paul is so sexy and smart!

  • All the new songs from Traced in Air are awesome. I just preordered the CD on Amazon!....a new classic is born!

  • paul masvidal looks huggable

  • That sucks, all this means is paul masvidal is gonna die... damnit... This is too good of a interview... every awesome musician has an amazing interview before they die

  • "It's the notes you DON'T play..."

    Spot on Sean. Genius.

  • Paul is very good looking!

  • oh my god , i can't wait the 27 october!!!!

  • Sean says "you know" at least 9 times during the interview!!! Cynic = great!

  • 2:29 - 2:35 its the best moment of this interview. Love them guys :)

  • Too bad Atheist isn't making a new album aswell.

  • They actually are.

  • it says on their official website that they aren't because they don't want to "fuck up" their legacy ;)

  • Go to it again. "New album to feature a cover of Rush's YYZ".

  • yo man that's sick, last time i went there it said there was no possibility of a new album

  • Are they really?

  • The new record took a while. Can`t wait any longer to get the stuff!

  • these guys are great musicians!

  • what group are these guys from?

  • Ohh. Cynic. n/m

  • Reinert notices a fly on his leg 5:47

  • I can't wait to hear the new album!!!

  • Man, you and me both! Asphyx and Atheist are getting back together again as well, I hear.

  • i can hardly believe that they think better or play better ) how could anything be better than "sentiment" or "veil of maya".. those pieces are so good in every aspect. everything was played, sung and arranged so perfect.

  • they were incredible! cant wait to here the new album!

  • yeah son, I think we should all climb in the eyelash of a distant fear, hahaha, but yeah Paul and Sean are so cool.

  • Nice to see unpretentiousness..they're just chill...and their music is awesome!

  • They are so nice....see em on Thursday!

  • Masvidal is such a fucking hippie...but goddamn he makes good music.

also, awkward clap at the end of the interview is awkward.

  • Cool video, thanks for uploading it

  • so if Paul didn't meditate, there would be a shit load of cynic albums.

  • no new album will ever beat Focus !!!!

but good luck with it anyway :))

im gonna buy it no doubt
