great video brother, this is my favorite, this video gives me a little hope that even if i dont get to go to the stars alive, may be my son will, and thats more enough reason for me to try to make him the best a human he can be i cant wait for him to grow up so i can show him the greatness of humanity,Carl Sagan, Mozart, Bethoven, Sun Tzu etc . Thank you callum
@FreedomLiberty21 I'd love to be right there with you. It's about time the intellectual and scientific nature of humanity gained supremacy in our species' priorities.
i love everyone who watches this video. I feel so alone here as an atheist in Canada. All i have is Sagan and my fellow youtube rationalists. I love you guys
@latinxl416 We all know that feeling. You may be geographically alone. But we are all still here. You need only reach out. We are here. We are here on this same, small earth.
Even if God exist, God would be in favor of Carl Sagan and many great scientists who have accomplished success for our human kind. It is the purpose life to discover and craft inventions to save our own fellow lives just as God. Imagine a perfect world where everyone is immortal, pure, and ethical just like heaven; we would all be scientist and work for humanitarian purpose anyways. It is the purpose we long for.
Carl used to say that what we do here and now with our technology, with the opportunities afforded to us will propagate down through the centuries, powerfully affecting the destiny of our decedents.
maybe that is a part of our destiny; to forge a world existing in relative peace and to continually nudge our societies to peaceful pursuits of scientific advancement and technological research.
The woman I love may or may not see this but I would travel the stars endless with you. Even after this world is gone my love for you will be everlasting...
Sagan is letting us know that insofar as we know, there is no evidence of a God. Or that if there is one, he's very laissez-faire, But we can become God-like, if not Gods per se, if we want to. If we can do it. And travel near light speed, colonizing the Milky Way,
The thought of a thousand generations from now our ancestors will be looking up at the sky and see our sun and think of us. Just like we think of our cavemen ancestors now and what they must have been doing.
I was just thinking. By the time we need to leave, couldn't we just *assuming we're advanced enough* create a small sun to orbit the Earth? Then using the moon, slingshot our Earth *and small sun* out of the Solar system? Of course it would be much harder than that but we may be advanced enough. If we survive. That way we can use Earth as the ship!
@Holgmeister I KNOW MAN!! This series pretty much changed my life forever... My friends all are content with their small view of things and this brings them no joy or interest.
If only this was shown in schools, if only every person on earth could watch this...it would wash away the outdated prejudices and erroneous misconceptions that prevents us from living in unity, progress, harmony and peace. Thanks Callum; each chapter is another brick, however small, laid down in the direction humanity should be going.
I still remember when I first saw your "A universe not made for us" for the first time. I can't believe you're at 19, soon releasing number 20.
I love it man. I just... words don't do it justice. You have helped me a lot and I'm willing to bet your videos have helped many, many others; in the very least been a source of insipiration.
I was gonna say something like X (indicating the number of people who disliked the video) were fucktards or trash but then I saw, and properly so, one of the most deserved zeros ever. Thank you callumCGLP, it can't be said enough how great what you are doing is.
I've recently started giving my coworkers, I work at a middle school part time, some basic science lessons. I've been using your videos as a way to spark their interest and show them the importance of scientific literacy in this modern age. I wanted to thank you for doing such a good job, hopefully I will get through to my coworkers and students.
I was just thinking I wanted to re-watch one of this series' videos to relax myself before going to bed. Coming on to YouTube to see a new video made me so happy.
@4ourOne6ix If youre trying to insinuate that Im stupid because Im high then youre wrong. If you think only stupid people smoke and smoking makes you stupid then you are an idiot.
In fact Carl Sagan supported weed. Heres a quote by him:
The illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world." - Carl Sagan
This makes me wish to work toward the future. To make sure there is a future for our later generations. I really wish I could be one to go to the stars, and to explore the cosmos. I wont live that long however, so I wish for others to carry my dream forwards, and eventually, succeed. I wish for them to experience what I never will and to never forget those who have worked towards that goal, but never got to see what strived for.
Had Carl lived 500 years ago ... he would of been dubbed a "prophet" ...
we have to hear about ppl like nostradamus in school regardless of how vague and irrelevant their messages were ...
This man belongs in history books ... 500 years from now, kids should read about Carl ....

I wonder if we'll experience a technological singularity, not unlike the kind Ray Kurzweil describes in his books.
perhaps, if humanity survives for the next 500 years, our species may yet see the next billion years or more
