@Nathanplaincool I don't notice anything strange around 1:20, maybe your video had a hiccup. I do cut the video between segments (at the end of levels and bosses, where it's possible to save or retry), check the annotations for where each new segment begins.
5:59 Wait, animation tool? How do write something like that? (Yah I know it's a bunch of binary and codes and stuff, but that must've been the most difficult part of the making of the game.) You must have a lot of experience, I don't even now where to start, I'd just animate the entire scene rather than go through that!
@Kojeco2 The boss plays back animations by moving and rotating its bones, on which the polygons are attached. An array tells each bone where to be on each frame. It's not as difficult as it sonds if you start at the bottom (rotating a group of vertices) and work your way up, but it took a while. The most difficult part of the game was collision handling, especially colliding at float speeds with sloping floors and such :(
Wow, your updated run, was just, WOW! The 4 minutes it took for you to beat Section X and Tor was the time it took for me to even get to Tor on a Pacifist run.
hahahha, I always wondered what was being said in the Asha music. I only caught "total destruction is imminent" + " ~about~ the final battle" + "system shutdown". :)
Good work on the game. Beat it tonight on a pure pacifist run on Hard, first game beaten.
I love the comparisons of the races when you read the logs, as well as the connotations of them upon circumstance at the point of the game you're in, and the behavior you've taken during the game.
I can also tell, especially with the Tor annotations, that you really didn't cut any corners (good habit for a programmer/designer), but the minimalistic art-style would likely cause some to shy away.
Man, this game looks even better at 60 FPS. I wish my laptop was powerful enough to run it that fast. The whole battle with Tor was a complete lag fest for me. It literally took about 5 minutes for his "explode into black polygons" animation.
Other than that, the game was totally amazing, Ultimortal.
Yeah, it's a shame about the compatibility problems Game Maker has. In my future games I will avoid using things that can cause problems and slowdown on certain computers.
Actually, during planning I used "X" instead of "10" as it's a single character, making the Sector 10 name line up better among the others. Having an X as the highest possible level for the stats on the HUD also fit better than a "10", so it sort of became a theme.
actually, asha 2 was pretty easy. the thing that set me off was that when you defeat him, it counts as a death. Then again, i shoulda seen it coming since he doesn't teleport...
@0:30 -> Asha 2 wasn't really that hard to beat. Like all assassins, they start out really hard but once you know how to beat them, they're one of the easiest enemies in the game.
Have you ever fought Asha 2 in Extreme or Ultimortal difficulty? He gets pretty stinking fast in those two difficulty settings. If you don't know what he looks like, you could search for "Asha Extreme" and see how fast he is.
What happened around 1:20? Was that a cut?

I just saw your new 27:18 run on SDA, and since there was nowhere to comment there I thought I'd leave one here.
It was so awesome that my face melted.
And thanks for making a truly amazing game. One of my all-time favorites.

What's Tor saying? I can't understand him through that thick Komatonean accent.

Check the video annotations at 5:16.

Huh, was that there before? I could swear it was a note about their voice being more important than the words.
Cornbinks 2 years ago
Maybe you confused it with my Maximum charge Tor video, it has several trivia-related annotations too.
Ultimortal 2 years ago
Probably, that sounds about right.

Y'all should try fighting Asha on turbo mode, Ultimortal difficulty.
Nabreus 2 years ago
I haven't beaten Ultimortal on Turbo mode myself for that reason (with a computer powerful enough to run the game at a constant 60 FPS).

As would I, although I've finally nailed the bastard now.

Hm... Did you mean for Sector X to also be sector 10, or is that just a happy accident?

Huh, I never knew that Tor adjusted the frequency of his weapons based on which attacks he hit you with. That's... really cool, actually.

Yeah. It makes me wonder what the formula is.

Even for the creator of the game, you're an absolute beast at it.

Good thing you gave him such a quick floor laser attack-it really helps cut down on the overall boss time.
Anyway, Iji was a pretty sweet game, and I commend you for giving us something so radicola.

If you liked the theme playing during the final boss fight against Tor, check this amazing remix out. Far superior to the original.

he's not that different than most assassins, just faster.
AsterisKSC 3 years ago
A *LOT* faster =)
OneZealousPie 3 years ago
if you use the right strategy, he's not that hard.
AsterisKSC 3 years ago
Huh.. I always thought he was saying "Burn to death, human" and not "You're fighting death, human"
The more you know, I suppose
also this was very great to watch, maybe if I unlazy myself I'll stop doing pacifist runs now. :V
