I don't know which way to go. I do a lot of video editing and I just don't want my programs to crash or freeze. I'm currently using windows vista. Should I upgrade to windows 7 or get a mac?
Seriously though, I like Windows 7 much more than Mac OS. But on my harware Windows 7 doesn't crash, just as XP, just as Mac OS. They are all very stable. It's all a matter of preference, you can do ANYTHING on all of them (well, except for gaming :) ). I'm using XP because its GUI seems more responsive to me.
Microsoft did a good job of ripping off the app dock and a sort of Expose-like feature for arranging windows, that isn't as good as Expose on Mac OS X. Oh, and they ripped off the Apple store. Now there's a Microsoft store. If your interested in what Windows 8 will be like, you can get the next version of OS X. Microsoft has no original ideas. They just rip off Apple. Shameless...
A touch screen makes sense for a small handheld device (because you don't want to carry a mouse around, and there's no room for a touchpad). But for a desktop or laptop computer, I don't see the huge benefit. On my desktop (a Mac Pro), I have a 30" monitor that is about 3' away from me. How would a touch screen really be easier than a mouse? Maybe on a laptop, but then you need to move your hands to the screen and back to the keyboard. Microsoft's attempt to "one-up" Apple is misapplied & weak.
Why should the consumer purchase yet another OS because its predecessor was faulty? I have been through them all and we get the same result? The home edition is only $120.00. This industry has to take zero responsibility for the crap they sell the consumer.
I dont understand whats all the hate for Vista is about. If you get the updates, use a decent computer hardware, and enough common, Vista is great. As far as overall looks and flashiness, I think Vista is the best looking Windows ever.
You can have both Vista and 7 if you wanted. If you upgrade to 7, you will only have 7. Vista will be gone, but all your files and programs will be transfer unto 7. This is not possible if youre upgrading from with Windows XP because XP and 7 are not as compatible
Yeah... as a Windows user since 3.11, I realized you can't upgrade to windows on the day of the release. You at least have to wait for SP1. Early adopters are really just phase 2 beta testers. This is why after 25 years of using a PC, I switched to a Mac, and I love it! To put this in context, I own an iPod and don't think it's that great (too reliant on iTunes), which prevented me from switching to a Mac. Macs are great, the OS is efficient, and you actually get more for your money.
I actually started to buy a Mac recently and I still don't know why I didn't. I built my last machine. It had an old AMD processor and only 1 gig of ram with XP on it. It ran faster than my new machine with a duo core, 8 gigs of ram with Vista
I have been using Win 7 since May, it has only crashed once, and I think it was my fault. All you people out there who hated Vista, give this one a chance. Win 7 is the best MS OS ever.
Well you want be able to use that tough interface on Win7 unless you have a computer with the touch-screen feature. Hardware and Software must be there.

Microsoft should refund our money for buying Vista. Win 7 should be free to upgrade from crappy Vista.

Could someone answer a dumb question for me?
If I upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 will I still have this crappy Vista or will it overwrite it?
Does it just add onto Vista or (hopefully) destroy it?

I'm not impressed with Vista. I think it's just me 2. XP worked great after sp2, so I'm hoping 7 will too
