The camera does take other external microphones...I have this camera and a Rode VideoMic. All it needs is a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter - like from Maplin. Living proof is on ghough12's youtube channel. The MS1 Mic absolutely STINKS! The Rode VideoMic or Senheiser MKE is completely compatible, so I have to say this is an innacurate review.

Excellent review.. Would you suggest this camera to take pictures of buildinds- towers, cathedrals,etc- and landscapes? I would sincerely appreciate your opinion..thanks a lot.

@Saki666Dark The camera should work perfectly for any outdoor shots with plenty of light. The only place it really suffers is in low light, indoors, and even then, it is pretty darn good. There is also a new FZ-150 coming out soon, check it out before buying.

@CruiseReport I have already reviewed the fz150 and it does not compensate me, because it only has a 24 x zoom and is more expensive than the Sony CyberShot DSC-HX100V and the Canon PowerShot SX40 HS wich have longer zoom..Thank you for the reply.

@corinniebobinnie9 Canon Powershot SX30IS features different to this camera - audio rec level for the built in mic - no ae/af lock in video

- faster AF AE IN VIDEO than this camera.

- 10x more zoom than this camera

hi i have done lot of research on highzoom and quality is concern.The row contain Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX100V,Nikon COOLPIX P500,Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100 and CANON SX3OIS.in these cameras the best one for shooting and recording( HD)is Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX100V.

@SeanPee911 It would be difficult to compare the two cameras as the Canon is a true DSLR with interchangeable lenses.

@cosner4 I think it depends upon what type of videos you are planning to shoot. In my opinion, it is a better video camera than a still photo camera, and the wide/zoom lens is a real plus.
