  • muito interessante

  • what kind of jackass speeds on a motorcycle??

  • @WretchedLivesWhite The kind of jack ass that has been discharged from the Army and thinks they are invincible. Or did you miss the point of the ad?

  • @WretchedLivesWhite The kind of lad who gets back from tour and needs something to get an adrenaline rush after being shot at everyday for 6 months.

Wish the public road safety ads were more like this, great vid.

  • One of the best TV ads ever. A massive shame this was never shown on terrestrial tv, it really should have been - but it was specifically made and targeted at British service personnel coming off tour before they returned home - as a reminder to drive/ride more carefully.

The special effects are still powerful... and I've seen this dozens of times. Stunt rider was actually riding the bike as it flips - he was strapped to a crane arm so as he flipped the bike, he was pulled upwards out of shot.

  • Same stunt rider on "Autobahn" too, he did everything except the catapult-through-the-air shot. The army barracks are real ones, the squaddies are real and in 'Autobahn', all the emergency crews were real too, no actors, they were off-duty.

Four extremely talented and creative people were responsible for both 'Debris' and 'Autobahn': Phil Hickes, Paul Williams, Dave Abbott and Seb Edwards – both adverts were created and produced by GOLLEY SLATER GROUP, CARDIFF for the British Army.

  • @gscardiff Yo, thanks so much for the excellent comment. How do you know about the crane stunt? Got any sources/links I can read?

  • @gscardiff Wondering if you're still alive and had a reply for me, I'm really intrigued how you know about the ad and the stunt.

  • @wuzzlevideos Hi, I work in the same office as the guys who did the original Creative on it. They all piled over to Hamburg (i think), where it was all filmed. The Autobahn section was closed for repair, the traffic on the other side is all fake (post production). Yeah stunt rider did a wicked job... he insisted on doing as much as possible to make it as real as possible - yeah he was anchored at the waist on wires and when he slammed the brakes and flipped the bike, he was hoisted up and away.

  • @gscardiff Many thanks for the extra information. Still has the same impact on me every time I see both of the ads. Shame TAC don't make them like this anymore :(

  • Muito bom esse comercial

    Excelente!

  • Would just like to tell those who have commented on US commanding everyone else...... Did you not see the commercial?? how difficult is it to see that this aims at transcending all borders to tackle a much deeper problem, faced by all young men in all armies in the world...

    Grow up kid...

  • What an extraordinary statistic. And yet not altogether surprising on second thought. Thanks for these, wuzzlevideos.

  • I am in the US Army and i know that this is a British commercial but it touched me too.

  • Hello sir!

Do you have the same kind of problem (ie, people thinking they are invincible to the end) in the US military?

Also, I'll buck the trend of people hating on American soldiers by sending you my best wishes. :-)

  • There are a lot of people who feel like they are invincible b/c they survived a war. Because i have come very close to death more than once, it reminds me that i am not invincible.

  • Don't take this personaly or as an insult but Britain takes nothing from U.S but orders.

Britain is U.S playing doll or something...Same for Israel they are just ass sucker of amercians they are nothing without free equipment they get from U.S but after all everyone is U.S playing doll.

  • @zuja59 Buddy, we make our own decisions and we don't get free kit from the Americans

  • Sorry but i wouldn't say so...

  • @zuja59 you wouldn't say what? That Britain makes its own decisions and pays for its own kit?

We are allocated missions on tour, granted but thats because an American General is Allied Supreme commander of Nato, not because America owns us.

Secondly, we have not recieved one free piece of kit from the Ameircans, that was the Polish in Iraq and America also talked about giving money for kit to the Germans who tried to use cost as an excuse to withdraw from Afghanistan. We fight our battles!

  • Yeah okay...

  • must be shown on tv, why have the powers that be not seen fit to put this on terrestrial tv its hoofing brilliant and is more thought provoking than any of the other road safety adverts

  • wow - thats deep !

  • That's a f**ing brilliant ad.

  • ouch, hard hittin or wot.

  • its very good but was it ever on tv ? ive never seen it.

  • Do you ever read the video descriptions before you post?

  • well i normally do. sorry i didnt today! no need to get annoyed about it. sorry. i'll read them all from now on, i promise!!!

  • @wuzzlevideos buddy to be fair, not everyone knows what BFBS TV is like you and I and the fact that you then say "and to soldiers in the process of re entering civilian life" does leave it open to question.

Not getting at you. but i think reading it, it sounds a bit ahrsh to stamp on a genuine question

  • Good one.

  • this advert is very effective it slams it down ur throat ...dnt get me wrong the army are very well trained drivers but at the end of the day any1 can have an acisent...i fink this kind of advert shld be shown too traffic police as well they always drive like there in a cop car :/

  • This is ad was a wake up call for me.

I'm an Australian Reservist, and I'll admit I drive more aggresively when I'm driving home in uniform then when I'm just in my civvie clothes.

I don't know what it is. But you just feel untouchable in Army uniform. As you're trained as an "unbeatable force" "nothing can stop you" and then that attitude carries on when you drive home.

  • This was painful to watch. Very effective.

    Top marks.

  • You're absolutely right, it's a stunning piece; a reminder, if any was needed, of why the public information film is such a vital genre. Goodness knows what it cost to get such extraordinary crash footage, but given that striking statistic it seems worth it.
