  • does anyone know where Rusty Estes a guitar player that played with Foley is?Thanks

  • Grew up in Springfield; listened to Ozark Jubilee every Saturday night. Did not live too far from Red and wife in Brentwood. I loved the Tall Timber Trio with Slim, Speedy, and Bob. I used to always request Peace in the Valley on a music talk show here in Tulsa back where the DJs would always play a spiritual tune to close their show. Those were great days with the Ozark Jubilee in town at the old Landers theatre. Remember Hawkshaw Hawkins? And, of course, L.D. Keller and the Promanaders!

  • would you believe the Landers Theatre still exist in Springfield? Before it was at the Landers it was at the Jewell theatre just around the corner from the Landers. Where the Jewell theatre was is now a park.

  • Red Foley is one of my favorites. You probably know that his son-in-law was Pat Boone.

Do you have any of the Ozark Jubilees that featurecd Jim Reeves or that he hosted? I'd love to see those. By the way, that picture is Ava Gardner not me. I used that on a video I posted and for whatever reason they use it for me.

  • he sang from the heart theres no other like him

  • My beloved Grandmother passed away today. Red was her favorite singer and this was her favorite song by Red. God Bless ya Grandma!

  • send me you address and I will send you the dvd.

  • where can i find the dvd of the ozark jubilee

  • Hi Bob. I got your cd's and mom and I watched them and just love them. thank you so much. And yes Aunt Martha who had the pancake house on glenstone was my dad's mom, my grandmother, and Laleapop66 great grandma.

  • Thanks for posting a great man. I've been trying and have failed in all efforts to find one of his songs. It was the flip side of Ol' Shep. Unfortunately, we wore the record out and it's too degraded to even try to recover. The title was Don't Make Me Go To Bed. I cry when I even think about his version of it. Does anyone out there have it?

  • No one sings it like Albertina Walker. This song was written by Thomas A. Dorsey.

  • No one sings it like Albertina Walker. This song was written by Thomas A. Dorsey. A black man that truly knew the meaning of this song.

  • Lord I had forgot about ole Red.

  • I am old enuf to remember this! I love Elvis' version. How much for the cd's of the Ozark Jubilee? I would like to have one and I could copy for my 82 yo father.

  • Just send me your address and I will send you a copy of some of the Ozark Jubilee shows at no cost.

  • @BOBFORDD Hi Bob, TY so much: Diane Roberts, 700 Baker St. Apt G5, Mt. Gilead, Oh 43338...so nice of you. God bless. "Lady Di"

  • Red is a legend, the song a classic.

    Thanks for video

  • Thanks for this...

  • Thanks for this one. Look forward to more Ozark Jubilee.

  • If you have more, please do post them. Vids like these are absolute treasures

  • Always a favorite.

  • I dig it.

  • He sang this song as good as any ever maybe the very best ever to record it.

  • I'm looking for even more video clips of the Ozark Jubilee. Looking for some that had a little boy in them. Went by the name of "Little Billie Joe". Anyone know how to find these? Little Billie Joe is my dad, and I am thinking this would make an awesome Christmas present!

  • man i am glad to be related to this guy.

  • My Grandfather always told me that his father taught Red Foley to sign and play in the West Virginia coal camps. Is there any way to prove or disprove this?

  • The only way I can think of is to contact the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. They have an archive that is second to none. Research Red's early years and some of the gigs he worked. He had a natural gift for singing but it is possible that someone helped him perfect that gift. Cross reference the information with what you know about your great grandfather to see if they could have crossed paths somewhere. Keep in mind that Red was singing in the late twenties or early thirties.

  • Doubtful. You could try to get into contact with Red Foley's family, I guess.

  • Red Foley learned to sing and play the guitar in Berea, KY. He won a major singing contest in high school and got a scholarship to college to study music. He dropped out, however, when John Lair offered him a job on his radio show in Chicago.

  • good sing ,, oldies gospel music....

  • i'd love to have this beautiful song played at my funeral, and i'm serious.

  • My Dad's favorite song, He's been gone 13 years now. Thanks for sharing.

  • Volume is too low

  • awsome voice and song

  • "Speedy"is my grandpa and Slim is my great uncle

  • Is Martha that had the pancake house on Glenstone in Springfield Missouri your great grandmother?

If you would like a DVD of the Ozark Jubilee send me your address.

  • yes she was

  • @BOBFORDD I'm Laura's mom and Speedy's daughter. You've sent me some Jubilee stuff for which I'm eternally grateful, and yes Martha that owned the Pancake House was Dad's mother, my grandmother, and Slim's sister.

  • I'm certainly old enough remember The Ozark Jubilee and loved it. I spoke to Speedy before his death.

  • This was one of his hits, but I always think of Od Shep when I hear one of Red Foley's songs. Probably because it always made me cry.

  • Thank-You for posting this, It sure brings back wonderful memories.

  • Its Great to now that clips like this still exist after all these years.

  • This is great. Thank you for posting.
