hey dude nice video :] and im geting a laptop this christmas and im buying fallout 3 or fallout new vegas but sadly im selling my xbox 360 for the laptop and my dads chiping in to help and i cant wait :) so thanks for the video dude im going to subscribe comment and rate.
seems more like a per to per vpn than a client server (just saying) and you made me give my hopes up for a way to get fallout 3 to work on linux (without vpns and Vms)
@rightstyle668 it's not a video, the main PC is running the game on its hardware, the laptop is streaming the game video and audio while running its inputs to the original PC. Like VNC or remote desktop, but fast enough to play a game on. Learn to read the description
The desktop computer is running the game itself. The laptop is just showing the output and grabbing the inputs, like having a remote screen and keyboard/mouse. It does this over the network, so you can use it wirelessley.
does fallout 3 for pc take a good graphics card? because i cant even run gothic 3 on my pc, and i can run The Witcher with like, the lowest settings haha. im pretty sure i have an intel graphics card.. do u think i could run it?
It's very unlikely. This is a pretty graphically intensive game, so running it directly on a machine that hasn't really got much grunt won't work. However, if you use the streammygame method as shown in the video, it should work fine. They have a free download to test it on their website!
If you watch both of my videos on this you will get the idea. Basically you use a more powerful desktop machine to actually run the game, and then a client machine (the laptop) that just displays the game on screen and captures the inputs. So most of the processing and rendering is being done on the powerful host machine, instead of the crappy laptop :P
I disagree with newbe5. You can run this game if you've got 1GB of RAM, a 256MB video card and a 2Ghz processor. It does run, however the performance is not good at all. You can try playing using the minimal graphics settings, which makes the game lose a lot of its fun. It's a matter of choice: if you wanna play and you don't mind bad graphics and a lot of lags during your play... Go for it. But you have been warned... It won't be as nice as it is with good hardware.
No, it's just the free membership. The trick that I've found is to run the game at a higher resolution on the host machine. So host at 1280x1024, that way the 640x480 client seems to look that bit better.
Also that laptop screen isn't huge, and it's native resolution is 1280x800 so it wasn't losing a massive amount. This was all part of a test so I could decide if I wanted to fork out for the full package.

thank you for responding.. and what is the streammygame method? does it only load like, parts of the game at a time?

This laptop has a 1.8ghz processor, 512mb RAM and a 32MB Video card.
I stand by my statement, it would never run Fallout 3 on it's own ;)
newbe5 2 years ago
Do you require a graphics card no matter what to play Fallout 3 on a laptop, can you even install one into a laptop? and if so, how?
vPJere 3 years ago
Well, every laptop has a GFX card of SOME sort, and the specific card in this laptop is a Radeon Mobility 9200, which is now pretty old.
This card would never be able to run Fallout 3 on it's own, which is why I used the StreamMyGame method.

why would you want to use your laptop as a monitor when your actual monitor is thrice its size? xD
Oboema6 3 years ago
Because it's streaming over the network, I don't have to be in the same room as the PC with the huge monitor :P
So I can play high quality games anywhere in my house.
