@ZeroRaijin Probably because it would give him away as a playable character before he becomes playable. Also note that the game even seems to have more to do with Shadow than Sonic. Plus it could be a status quo sort of thing, especially since this was meant to be the milestone 15th anniversary game.

I just remembered about the camera at 23:25.

Having gone through this area many times, the only possible explanation for the camera "destroying itself" that I can think of is that the controller's right analog stick had malfunctioned somehow.
