I think your suffering from poor note choices. I was there when I was your age. Watch my videos for pointers etc. I just started posting some, but it will give you a good handle and understanding how to approach a distorted solo. That distortion you used was nightmarish and annoying to the ears. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Thanks for the advice! Yes, I'm not proud of the solo myself now, seeing how much time has passed since it was filmed, but I've taken music theory classes and am understanding how to play with a bit more skill. I'll definitely check your videos out. I'm also working out the distortion problems with my pedal. An E aeolian scale does get annoying after awhile though, I do have to say. I appreciate your help! :)

I couldn't afford a bass amp at the time, so I borrowed an old Epiphone 4 channel mixer and two Peavey pa speakers. The effect pedal I was also still mastering, and for God sake! I'm being recorded with a digital camera, not a state of the art studio, so of course it doesn't sound up to standards. Actually, I've been playing for almost two years. This was shot in June, so I've improved since then. BTW, I was playing the solo to NIB by three months.
That's honestly not bad for self taught mate. As below though you need to work on your technique. Primarily with your left hand, eg you have the habit of wrapping your thumb round on to the strings. Your slap has a lot of recoil, practice getting more power without having to strike the string from such a distance. Also yeah maybe you do need to let some of the air out of your head lol.

If you'd take the time to read my side note, you'd see that that was only the second time I've practiced that song in quite awhile. I'd like to see you do better. I'm self-taught and I practice all the time, and everyone that knows me thinks I'm pretty damn good. Besides, I came up with this piece myself.

I've seen Flea, he's good, but not really my style. The only reason I added a slap riff in my solo was to show that I know how to slap, so I show all the bass techniques.
Extremely impressive! I know zilch about music (just ask Colin), but I know when someone is kickin it. This is especially great if you're still just starting out. Keep up the good work!
