  • j'ai vu l'original et celle ci a été mis en accéléré.

  • Not to mention, as someone said below, if it were fast-forwarded the pitch would go up. Point is, this guy spends more time practicing than all you idiots spend with your heads in your asses... which is impressive.

  • Seen him do most of this stuff live. Not fast-forwarded. Jackasses.

  • This is a kind of world rudimental champion. He can play everything, even 32nd notes at 144 bpm is not a big problem.

  • @Chuvachillo77

32nds at 144 with good quality is not a problem for most drummers who have honed their craft - rick beckham is the man

  • Notice the guy whose screen name is "MotleyCrue4LYFE" has no idea what's going on in the world of rudimental drumming.

I happen to know Rick personally, have been to his house and have watched him play this personally. The man's a monster.

But he's no Tommy Lee, right? Ahahahahaha!

  • OH MY GOOOOD

  • This guy has some chpos of STEEL!!! Sweet solo.

  • Oh hell yes. 5 stars man.

  • That was sick o_o;

It looks like someone pressed fast forward :P

  • Even more common sense: if it were fast forwarded, it wouldn't sound like a drum. This guy isn't even the "fastest" rudimental drummer out there. Go look up JJ Pipitone. Tell him he fast forwarded his videos and you'll get an even bigger laugh than you'll get here.

  • Hi everyone. If you're interested in fast and (more or less, I admit it) clean rudiments, please check my "me playing..." video. Its not really awesome but a nice effort (imo). All the best.

  • holly shit!!!

  • that is pretty much the craziest drum solo Ive ever seen

  • I can produce many short multiple stroke rolls but I could never play what Buddy plays. This is the classic case of people easily impressionable by visuals and sounds - they do NOT know the actual difficulty of what they are looking at. Buddy's playing was many times more difficult that Beckham's just because he had a once in a century control over everything single-strokes (the most difficult rudiment to FULLY master, in MY opinion - as I've just explained it better).

  • Buddy Rich West Side Story Pt. 2

Copy and paste the tittle above in the "search" space on youtube and tell me someone that could reproduce such a genius single stroke control like that. And no, I'm NOT referring to multiple stroke/moeller rolls like these (from DCI/DCA snare players and pretty much all the kit ones). I'm talking about absolute control over volume, length, speed, power, SYNCOPATION, and dynamics in general using SINGLE STROKES.

  • *touches drumsticks...*

    tttssSSTTT!!

    "HOT!!"

  • Awesome technique and stick tricks, very impressive. I'm practising some of Rick's exercises and they have really helped in developing stick control, thanks heaps.

  • holy fuck, don't your arms get tired

  • :|

    uh...

  • You wish you could do what Rick has done, don't hate. Rick you won that championship for a reason. Several people I know look up to you. By the way, how is the family?

  • He's amazing. I may not play drums but Ricky, Ive known you since forever......besides my dad. YOU ARE THE SHIT!

  • Not to mention his ridiculous creativity, playing for several minutes non-stop combining everything imaginable and making his solos seem cohesive and well composed as a whole. These are things even Rick Beckham could never achieve (in MY sole opinion). All my admiration to him as a marching snare player though. He is still a TOTAL BEAST at what he does better.

  • I find BR a lot more interesting simply because Buddy had an immense MUSICAL background under his belt. IMMENSE. Played with the greatest musicians in the world since he was young and learned from a close friendship with the very best ones. His accents between rudiments alone are a beauty. Rick relies way too much on the rebounce of the sticks while Buddy could control every "kick" of the sticks. A single stroke p.h.d. mastering volume, accents, speed and cleaness of his every stroke.

  • It's a very simple rule: we always tend to do what we do best. With Rick there is no exception. He is definitely sick with his back sticking speed, but does it sound really good? I mean, everytime I watch Buddy Rich solo (and I've seen almost 1 hundred of different solos from him), I'm always under the impression that I'm watching not just a master technician but a master MUSICIAN as well. Immense musicality in his rudiments.

  • esta fackeado ...the same old shit of always

  • veeeery fuking crazy shit

  • Great to see somebody playing match grip (The non-handicapped way) ;) This guy owns.

  • on the match vs. traditional sticking thing, it's normal to play traditional for marching snare, just how it's done. never hurts to learn both, though, i flip-flop a lot when i'm playing the drumset, can come in handy

  • DO YOU HAVE TO PLAY MATCH GRIP FOR HIGHSCHOOL DRUMLINE?

    nice vid btw

  • Depends on the director's or instructor's preference. I personally prefer traditional.

  • Im used to playing matched grip on my drumset, and its very difficult for me to play traditional on a pad

  • yes u do most of the time

  • haha sped up. u suck!

  • Haha, hate to tell you, but you're wrong. You suck.

Oh by the way, it's not me, so why don't you find Rick's channel and try to tell him that. Hope I bruised your ego a bit there.

  • don't worry i think my ego will manage

  • this guy is a legend anyone who thinks hes fake is a retard and doesn't know shit about drumming. seriously what the fuck =/

  • this guys is good bravo

  • Your all sad little boys who dont have your own videos up so resort to slagging off someone elses. Heres a tip practice more instead of bullshitting and maybe youll lose the bitter streak. twats

  • well, okay. let me ask the poster. I watched the solo. I liked the solo. But, it seems obvious to me that the film has either been sped up in places, or its distorting somehow. I wish it were just a nice simple live cut, without that annoying sprenson squeeze thing there. some good stuff, but also some sketchy camera stuff. both are true.

  • More clips have been uploaded.

  • i love the part were u acutualy speed it up loads....fake

  • He also fakes it when he plays this same exact stuff in front of crowds of hundreds of people year after year.

Except when he plays hip-hop beats and dances; that's real.

  • Hahaha! Yeah, Rick Beckham is such a fake, winning all sorts of comps. Very logical. What an idiot.

  • your dumb

  • suck.

Travis can do better dan this.

    MUCH MORE BETTER i mean..

  • Travis Barker RULES!!!

And by "rules" I mean that he plays stuff with all four limbs that Virgil Donati plays with one.

We won't get in to how awesome he is at rudimental drumming.

  • yeah. it takes travis barker all 4 limbs to play what virgil can do with only one. but then again virgil donati is one of the best in the world and travis barker isnt even close

  • travis is good. but you cant compare a good drummer to an amazing drummer. this guy shits all over travis barker

  • That was kind of my point there, tough guy.

    :)

  • I just uploaded 6 new rudimental clips. Enjoy.

  • its a speed exercise holly crap give the guy a break

  • hes good..............but yea it does lack interesting rhythms

  • From 1:28 to 1:48 is so fucking BORING, its not even funny - and Mr. Beckham insists on doing it again and again... great stick tricks and amazing speed but this solo lacks interesting rhythms (like in Casey Brohard's video and so on...).

  • It may appear boring, but what he's playing is actually quite difficult. If you'll watch closely you'll notice that he is playing sixteenth notes with one hand and triplets with the other, then he alternates. So, in reality, even the slow portion of his solo is difficult.

  • You can always tell who the 16-year-olds are, because they'll take something as sophisticated as this solo and compare it to Casey Brohard or Ivan Pacheco, or whoever the latest guy was to play the one-handed roll, elbow lick or any of those other gimmicks that require any actual chops to play.

  • Well put! Ugh, n00bs these days, hahaha!

  • Ever heard of match grip

  • Uhh, if you're making a reference to the video, I'll have you know that he's using plenty of match grip, along with traditional throughout the solo.

  • jesus christ.

  • hey what kind of sticks is this guy useing it looks coopermans but im not sure

  • why speed this up when its amazin as it is!

  • amazing

  • i think he might have speeded it up a bit.. lookat his arms moving when hes like throwing his stick around, like.. they moveso fast.

  • That would be from the compression of the video when it went thru Youtube.

  • Looks like he's getting mad a his drum at the end

  • I mightve posted the same comment twice because for some reason the past two comments didnt show up.

  • No, my previous comments definitely didnt show up, so ill post them again.

  • joedrummer, it's obvious that you're just trolling, but I'll play along:

Since you have so much faith in Tim, why don't you ask HIM if it's real? He knows Rick. He'll tell ya what's up.

    End conversation.

  • Good one!! You got me there!! I better stop posting comments or else I'll get told again!!

  • Ok Its not fake!! Just messin with ya

  • Thank you, drive through.

    lol!

  • Just look at It. How is it not fake! What other drummer do u know that can do that? The only person that I could see doing that is Tim Jackson. Why would I be jealous? Its fake

  • Just fyi, this isnt fake at all. This is DCA, not DCI. These guys have probably been marching for 10+ years, whereas the longest time most people have marched DCI for is 7 years. I wouldnt be surprised if this guy is 10x better than tim jackson.

  • dude get fucking life. You dont know drumming until you know Rick Beckham! Tim Jackson... Is a quad player in da first place...

  • Nice one!

  • thats amazing

and joedrummer14 watch the movement of the camera since it isn't anchored..you can tell that this is realtime

  • You can speed up a video without the head moving..how do you think they make movies!

  • Well, since Rick's won DCA indies 4 times, and is subsequently on a bazillion videos nation wide, and since I have been to his house and stood a few feet from him while he played, I can say with total confidence, as can the multitudes who've watched him play live, that YOU are the weakest link.

  • you guys are idiot

if it was sped up [which was NOT!]

the head would move as fast but it didnt

you guys are just jealous of his skills

  • I assure you it's not fake.

  • Have you even seen how fast the sticks are moving? How can someone possibly go that fast and not drop a stick or mess up..fake

  • Maybe because...uhhhh, he's GOOD?

  • What makes you think it's fake?

  • He's probably just jealous.

  • Fake...

  • Hmm...it's quite interesting you say that. Especially after Rick himself told us the vid wasn't sped up, and that you're probably just jealous.

    Have a wonderful day.

  • Why do you say it's fake?

  • Why do you think it's fake?

  • What makes you think it's fake?

  • Rick...

    Man...

I don't know what to say.

I'll never be able to play all that stuff.

You pretty much own the universe, in my book.

  • daaaaaaamn only one complaint though...wish the audio was a bit better to really hear the snare purely =(

The drumming itself though was borderline ridiculous...sooooo good

  • you are the one of the best snare drummers i have ever seen in my entire life!!! keep up the good work and post any more vids if you have em

  • I competed again this year, but almost dropped a stick at the beginning which cost me. My wife told me I was moving too fast! :)

  • I can you assure you the video was NOT sped up.

  • Yeah, I know. Some people just like to think so...don't know why.

  • hmm, i think they sped the video up a bit

  • Yeah, no...go to rudimentaldrumming.com. Watch his other vids. Then come back and tell me they're sped up.

  • Just looks like it cause the rest of him moves fast for some reason

  • Ohhh I see...I'm pretty sure it just seems that way just cause the file may have been compressed a bit.

I apologize if I came off as a prick

  • yeah all the beckham's just rock

  • Oh, there are more than one? I haven't heard. Please fill me in!

  • I mean, like david beckham, his wife, his kids... haha. i just love them all...!!!

  • Oh heh heh

  • FUCKING AWESOME DUDE....................

  • wad the... HES CRAZY!

  • i hate to say it but that was cooler than travis'

  • Well of course...

  • jesus fuck damn

tha back sticking in tha beginning sounds sick

i found ur link from tha travis solo

u kicked his ass in that shit!

  • If only I could play like that.

  • wow.

  • Well, I found your link of the Travis Barker video of him doing about 2% of what you're doing. That's amazing. It looks awesome.

  • If only that was me...

  • that's how to play on a snare, god damm

  • Absolutely amazing !! just missing the dynamics from this complete presentation of snare drum technique...wow...

  • Now thats immpressive!!!!

  • Using a floor tom head? That's a Premier Marathon. I know because I've been to his house and played on it! Are you thinking of my old video? (I had one with me playing on a floor tom head).

In any case, Rick is the MAN!

  • Holy Sh*t....

  • Amazing, isn't it?

  • ditto
