  • woww.. amazingg

  • if not for the education she received in the school she would not be able to write and or make this speech...

  • I would encourage students to skip senior year, if possible. Senior year is a waste of time.

  • i would like to smoke a bowl with this girl

  • So she basically told her school to go fuck themselves. I like that

  • She looks like she has a lot to learn in the future, but she is completely right. Haha the cliché might actually mean something more than just "follow your heart "

  • Respect!

  • Oh my God... I cant believe she said all those things.... SHE'S A GANGSTA AT HEART... not afraid to stand up in the face of those who sit behind her.... I truly admire her... she doesnt just take it... she dishes it out also...

EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THE DOCUMENTARY "WAITING FOR SUPERMAN" AND CHANGE THIS SYSTEM OF DUMBING DOWN OUR CHILDREN... THE FUTURE IS BLEAK WITH MANY VIDEO GAME PLAYERS... AND FEW TRULY EDUCATED PEOPLE...

  • EPIC!!!!

  • I think your ''realization'' has opened a door closed to the others thusfar.

  • An educated (indoctrinated) population is a lot easier to control than a non-educated populis!

  • i ended up here after watching portal stuff so i thought she was gona say "we do what we must because we can"

  • If you didn't learn anything why would you accept the role of valedictorian. Maybe only you learned how to memorize names and dates and then forget to clear your mind for the next test. All you do is go to school do class work then go home and do homework. The fact is that you were unsuccessful at teaching yourself and taking the initiative to teach yourself. Then you go to school and say i shouldn't have to teach myself. Would you like to spend 10-12 hours of your day learning?

  • clueless still doesn't know she's wearing a masonic square on her head

  • Im going back to school tomorrow, returning to fucking calvary.

  • She has the most annoying voice. Although I agree with her it seems to me she had a lot of help with this speech and such wisdom wasted on the young!

  • Um you're valedictorian? Wow! You seem to have 50 people in your graduating class...... -_- Sppppppeaking of competition

  • @MrPenlaw

    she explained why.

  • I have two friends who are brilliant. The smartest people I know, but they decided to not graduate high school. It was their own decision. They very well could've very easily graduated, but they saw high school not necessary. Instead, they learned to learn. And despite not graduating high school, they both got a full ride scholarship to multiple colleges. They now both have an associates degree and they are 17. They didn't let schooling get in the way of their education.

  • whats ironic is she wouldn't have been able to convey her message in such an elegant and intelligent manner without the education she critiques

  • @MrShroomtits She wasn't saying that she was taught nothing worth knowing, rather that what was withheld had to be sought out, and appraised on it's own merits, because the education system she was compelled to deal with stifled independent thought and individual self-expression.

Her "elegant and intelligent manner" probably has more to do with her personal and family values than any ability conveyed by a monolithic state indoctrination system.

  • This is so wonderful for two reasons. First, that she was smart enough to reflect AND question what her education was a about. Second, that the administration and her parents didn't hold her back. She is an inspiration.

(I'm a high school teacher and know what terrible things are pushed onto children in the name of "reform" and "education") We have to be a brave as this young woman is.

  • The New Hampshire legislature 2011 House just passed HB 542 which repeals compulsory schooling laws. Parents do not have to send their kid to any school or program or textbook that they are opposed to. Truancy laws will also be repealed. Historical!

  • again where is the first few minutes of this video

  • @ 5:19 to 6:01 she is dead on. We need more people like her. Or need more people to be deep thinkers. So many people are simply sheep.

  • @ryfooter1 I think she is frustrated because the school system rewards her and praises her for going about school this way, and she really did not get much out of being the perfect student that public schools aim for students to be.

I am currently in high school and take rigorous IB courses, and this is also what I see. The school rewards me for being a robot and memorizing what they want me to memorize and then I become, in a way, shunned when I take a genuine interest in something that, acco

  • Honestly....i would hate school too if all i did was get extra credit and attempt to be the top in my class. It's no wonder she sees all these flaws, she created them in the way she went about her education. Maybe if she had spent less time making sure she was the absolute best, she would have felt differently. It's a fantastically delivered speech with a good message, but it should be taken with "a grain of salt" so to speak.

  • You inspire me to be more, you say what I think, but what i cannot say

  • The points mentioned in her speech are nothing typical for the education system in the U.S.A.

They are rather symptoms of the currently dominating economic and state system(s) around the world. The problems can be observed around the world.

We need to unite globally for free emancipatory education for fundamental change!

  • @TheOpenlearning

What a mindless, unoriginal post of lunacy. Seriously.

Me can rite and reed. Me smart. Me dont need the skooling. I suckesful to.

  • This speech showed deep wisdom and great caring for fellow humankind.

  • Amazing! And SPOT ON!

  • both instruction and perception of said educational system should change. reform is difficult given the extent of special interests and right already granted to teacher, administrators and districts. federally, the accountability of instruction is being raised, but it will take more than restrictions regarding federal funding to shift the mentally of older teachers.

  • this is the best speech ever hear from a graduated student, who hopefully will be an example to the next generation

  • AWSOMENESSS! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GIRL!

  • Excuse me miss, MARRY ME!! :)

  • great speech! but in all honesty, i think she learned quite a lot in school. The mere fact that she understands this dilemma means that she did not quite followed the system to the T. She explored and THOUGHT about the system and saw its flaws.

  • Why wont people understand that this speech is nothing special. Majority of people in high school know that the system is screwed up. She is not the first person to realize it. Students have known this for years. I agree with what she is saying but shes is ignorant to think shes like the only person to realize it.

  • @TheDarkEmporer i agree i thought the same way when i was in school most people know that its a sham she's just the only one to speak out the way she did

  • Too bad we don't have more outside the box thinkers. The sheep either are incapable or they don't want to leave their happy ignorant place in their safe little box. And the mindless sheep call these outside the box thinkers as kooks or conspiracy theorists. Of course those mindless, brainwashed by controlled mainstream media, got that from tv. It is easier for them to dismiss whatever your conspiracy angle is by calling you a name(kook), instead of an intelligent argument to the contrary.

  • school is a slave system it tells you how to do a job what is the job??? the plantation really lol read willie lynch how to make a slave been doing it to black people since we got over here

  • @MrUniqueosmosis Apparently this speech went right over your head. I think it is too late for this one, he's been dumbed down.

  • @JamJHolmes WTF WELL PLZ TELL ME WHAT IS SHE TALKING SINCE I DONT KNOW ANYTHING she said school is to teach how to be a slave to teachings and not to inspire to be something greater than what they teach u to be

if your not going to inform people and be positive like this young lady you need to shut the fuck up im always open to new ideas if im wrong i would admit being wrong that how you become a better person but insulting people just shows how this speech went over your head

  • @JamJHolmes i would have to agree with you dumbed down is a great way to put it i learned more in my art class then my government class i can remember my teacher pounding in my and other class mates head the checks and balances system to bad that is a system just as flawed/corrupt now a days as the main stream media. wake up sheep open your eyes

need to c google search University of Utah researchers say seizures more common in children who had H1N1 than seasonal flu

  • She is understanding the NWO. And how we are told what to believe and how to believe it. Yes the media goverment hollywood etc. Are all on the same page. To make mindless dumb down robots. Who never ask why? Why is our money worthless, why is our education sysyem sucks. Why is the junk called news telling us lies." all men are created equal and its government ,schools and corpatraton to make sure we will alway remain equel."

  • MOST EPIC GRADUATION SPEECH EVER!!!

  • It is also the bad quality of teachers. Of course sh won't say it in front of all the teachers that many of them don't do their job well, but there are numerous teachers who do not even teach the basic curriculum. In fact, some if them just become teachers for the benefit, which includes that they are nearly never fired.and of course most good teachers teach at private schools intended for the children of the rich, the later to be government controling our society.

  • This is why we homeschooled

  • What Erica doesn't say here is that she did indeed learn a lot through this "system." She is not explicitly saying it but she is showing through this speech that somehow the system has taught her to be a thinker. Her very recognition of these issues and problem - much of which is true, I think - is a sign that sometimes the system works. I love her enthusiasm and her hope for the future, and I'm trying to set aside the tone that sounds a little bit like a complaint.

  • @englishclassrocks The system doesn't work, her mind does. The system has nothing to do with her outside the box thinking. Too many mindless drones don't think outside the system and or box.

  • These words are like music to my aers You brought me back to my firth days in school. The only thing I really can remember, is that oppression that soon turned in to contempt on the part of the system. From that day I started to fight , fight what? who? why? did no have a clue till much later in life. When I started to scream these reality, It was like creaming in the desert. To see the young ones waking up is music to my ears. May God be with you,(her)

  • A free man chooses, a slave obeys.

  • This girls a bitch! she pretty much acts like all her class mates are blind to all this. Most people in high school realize all this shit. They just do the work so they can go to college so they can get money. they most likely wont use any of it. Shes just some girl who thinks shes so smart cuz shes valedictorian and that all the other people are too stupid to realize these things when in fact most already do.

  • @TheDarkEmporer So she is a bitch for bringing the subject up when no one else seems to? She is a bitch for making her speech about the very thing she was there for that night and how she really feels about it all? You seem to think that because she is expressing how she feels, and that because other people either already know it and say/do nothing about it, she is mean and should be scowled. How is suggesting that people work harder to gain back their freedom a bitchy thing to do?

  • @benignvendetta I never said her doing that is bitchy. Her implying that her classmates were blind to this and that she was "enlightened" was bitchy. If she wants to give her a opinion about the school system then thats fine. but she doesnt have the right to to act like shes the only person that realizes this and her classmates were too blind to realize it.

  • @TheDarkEmporer pretty sure those werent her intentions at all. and as a matter of fact she does have that right.

  • @benignvendetta no she doesnt have the right to stand there and talk about her fellow students like that and get praises for it... especially with them having to sit their and listen to it. everyone is talking about how great the speech is but all i hear is ignorance and arrogance.

  • @TheDarkEmporer she has the right to say what she wants and what she has earned to be able to say. the same way you have the right to post on a public forum that you think this fine example of a student is a bitch. you speak of ignorance and arrogance yet you don't even know this person and have no idea how the students around her felt about it. also, perhaps the other people praise her for it because they get it, like you said they've been thinking it all along, and someone brought it up

  • @TheDarkEmporer I smell an insecure hater! Run along.

  • @JamJHolmes haha it must be you then. How long has it been since you were in high school? I graduated 2 years ago and the stuff shes talking about in her speech is old news. Tons of people in schools know this stuff. School is just a tool. I dont get how you claim that I am a insecure hater when I agree with what she saying. I just think she is ignorant for thinking that shes like the only one that realizes it.

  • Having gone through a high school that fostered critical thinking, a democratic ( "spirit of" not "party") approach to decision-making, self-initiated learning w/real consequences for not striving, and questioning ideas & authority I can say that the world that awaited was not interested.

Which is not to say her view is a bad one or that my experience wasn't beneficial. Just that the world as it is demands a level of complacency & acquiescence that the current system well supports.

  • original speech. THis should modelfor next generation students.

If only all youth awaken like this, we would be ready for a happy world.

Go home schooling, go Community schooling.

  • OMG! One brilliant student awakened and trying to wake up her peers. How do these older sleeping generation respond? We can see them skirming. This should be spread far and wide. There is still hope for our youth! Go girl!

  • @fair2share

Download and share on your channel, it might be a small thing, but if we all share this speech more and more parents and students will hear it.

  • Well said, & you did it with grace & compassion.

  • The new pedagogic movement that you seek already exists: whywaldorfworks(dot)org Unfortunately this wholistic approach is not used in the public system because it recognizes that the human being is more than a mere physical organism. Public schools have locked themselves into an athiest world-view, and all of society suffers from it.

  • @originalcause Just because a person or establishment is atheist does not automatically mean it needs God to view people as creative and loving entities that have feelings. Being atheist does not automatically suppress human capabilities or life. I know just as many theological members of society who tear people down better.

  • Congratulations!!!! You are awake and aware! I am really impressed by your insight at such a young age. You will do great things in your life :)

  • It's sad that people think its teachers that are the cause of it, granted thier are a few that should retire, but its the government, that doesn't seem to get it. We are breeding kids to be test takers, to be machines, to not think for themselves and be creative, if its not on the test we cant teach it. Being a teacher I think its all crap and unfair. Problems are everywhere. "It takes a whole village to riase a child"

  • According to this young women, she feels cheated out a full education. I'm sure some of the fault does lie with the teachers, she herself is also responsible. A teacher can give students a wealth of different information, but if the student does not actively engage their mind and only goes through the motions of learning without completing the full process, what is the teacher to do? Only a student can take that final step and achieve what this young lady is feels she has missed.

  • Unfortunately teachers are forced to concentrate on issues like standardized test more and more, but this young lady's speech shows that she indeed has much more growing to do. While I'm sure that some teachers are in drone mode, I truly feel that most of my peers want students to question and sort through the information we try to share with them and form their own conclusions.

  • ....that way, people who want to be there will get the education that is right- reshape the system in a way that emphasizes a person's interest (like specialty schools)- that would create the stronger, more talented people. Or maybe that's not what the government wants?

  • I think this is a brilliant speech considering her age, and a very poignant one to leave the school with. My mom is a special ed teacher that has to suffer the consequences of "No Child Left Behind" and in reality, America is -not- going to catch up to other countries with this plan. I hate to say it, but maybe we should go the way Japan and China handles it- if they don't want to be there, then they shouldn't be in school. (But, then there's the whole family circumstances issue too...)

  • When I attended high school, I was "highly advised" to take AP courses so that I could fit the standard of my school's goal. I told my counselor that it was pointless because I knew what educational background I would need for my field (physics, drawing, writing- since I am now majoring in animation.) I guess I was a little "rebellious" (aka, not really, but I found a way out of the system and therefore they didn't know how to deal with me haha :])

  • i wish i went to the graduation cuz i heard soo much about it from my cousin. shes right about everything!

  • Stephen King said the last thing that need ever be said about public schools: THIS INHUMAN PLACE MAKES HUMAN MONSTERS.

  • I read the speech before listening. I have to say the speech is a lot better. Her voice doesn't have much conviction

  • .[3] One of the most prominent forms of corporatism is economic tripartism involving negotiations between business, labour, and state interest groups to set economic policy.[4] In contemporary usage, "corporatism" is often used as a pejorative term against the domination of politics by the interests of business corporations based on the inaccurate interpretation of "corporat" in corporatism as referring to business corporations.

  • Hahaha. What a hero.

  • Many teachers teach TO the tests.... We've dumbed down America about as much as we can. "No Child Left Behind"... push them thru... graduate them whether they deserve it or not....Whether they can read or not....They warmed the seat for 12 to 13 years so graduate them.....What about Montesori schools and special school for those w/ ADHD???...Many students have such specialized education plans that the teachers can't spend enough time on actual subject matter. The teachers are frustrated too!

  • @Rainy64 Very, very true. My mom is a special ed teacher and she feels the same exact way about your comment.

  • I'm 16, I'll be a senior on Tuesday, and just a couple of weeks ago, thank to YT, I found about what our government really is and what the true evils of public "education" are, I guess I'm awaken, I'm not sure......but this speech moved me, especially when she was talking about how a majority of the students dont even know whats goin on!!

  • damn i wanted to hear the applause... amazing speech, i wonder if she, or the english teacher wrote it lol

  • Months ago I was asleep from the Matrix, and I only held onto a small grasp of what she states.

Then I came across a youtube video on Esoteric Knowledge, and began researching. I put pieces to a puzzle together, and woke up from this Matrix. I already know of what she states.

When she's not studying, she's probably watching Truth videos LOL!

  • I'm sure the Main Stream media "NBC,ABC,CNN "will here about this and try to destroy her life because she speaks the truth. I can see 3 have already visited this video and disapprove.... They don't like it when Kids wake up at such an early age ;)

  • @F3ARL388

You are beyond Clueless Guy. Never mind this speech. Nothing to see here. Keep moving on. Back to watch the ESPN & E-Tonight.

    Go back to sleep.

  • @F3ARL388

Nooo, the system doesn't need to change. We should just keep producing more members of the workforce that lack innovation, the ability to actually work as a team, to come up with any new ideas or operate with any autonomy. In a global environment, the American workforce has become redundant, obsolete, and expensive. But obviously the system is perfectly fine the way it is: redundant, obsolete, and expensive.

  • @F3AR Learn the word necessity, which in the most basic sense means necessary for life. You must mean necessary for some other purpose. One can live without money or a degree. The system is wrong, even though she wanted to learn something, because of the way the system thinks people should live, there was nothing to teach her. For example, If she were taught how to make plastics from raw materials like sugar or vegetable oil, then she would spend her time making her own stuff, not paying taxes.

  • @davidjboyer1 Problem Solving 101 7 Step Method: 1. ID The Problem 2. Generate Possible Solutions 3. Analyze Possible Solution 4. Compare Possible Solutions 5. Pick The Most Realistic Solution 6. Put The Plan In Action 7. Supervise & Refine According to Results She has begun to compile information on the ID-ing of the problem. Give her a little slack, as she is only 18, and there are many many seniors who have only a vague idea-feeling that something is, must be wrong. She's doing Good.
  • @detersbb I agree with davidjboyer, he doesn't seem to be attacking her really, just advising. I don't like the idea of pointing out whats wrong until you know what's right. If you see wrong around you, leave, seek seclusion to think and figure out what it should have been, what was right, then come back and tell me the whole story. She does end saying let's get a degree, so she still will probably have some issues in college, when/if she learns about taxes, fiat currency, and gov. control, etc.

  • @davidjboyer1 a system that is not based on coercion is not a Utopian ideal.

  • @davidjboyer1 12 years of my life wasted. Actually its worse than wasted, it's not like I just got 15,288 hours of my life bled out of me, but rather it made me miserable, and they stunted my growth. If your a public school teacher I just want you to know, you support the use of violence in order to get your pay, you are the moral equivalent of an alleyway mugger. "Your money, or your life" Just because people choose their life doesn't make it legitimate.

  • @davidjboyer1 You make good points, but I would argue that her speech is actually OUTSIDE of the leftwing-rightwing paradigm. It's about finding solutions to move forward. Can you honestly expect an 18 year old to have the solutions to the issues she raises? It's like asking the person who calls the fire squad to put out the housefire to do it themselves. All we can say is "fire, fire!" because we haven't become the firefighters ourselves yet. Give her time.

  • @davidjboyer1

You actually think John Taylor Gatto is LEFT-wing!? I've read his books, he's extremely libertarian, and he despises science and wants a return to "congregational" ethics. I doubt that is a left-wing position.

Or were you talking about H.L. Mencken?

  • @davidjboyer1 I love how everyone must think in left and right. What does that even mean? No-one really knows.

There are plenty of solutions. Most will come about themselves when we automate 80% of the jobs necessary to run a social system, and everyone is left unemployed.

  • @davidjboyer1

you might like to read 'Punished by Rewards' and 'No Contest: The Case Against Competition' by Alfie Cohn for further insights into what she is saying. Both books are longer than that speech and cite quite a few scientific studies. Every system could do with improvements and education is no exception.

  • Beautiful speech! Just beautiful! True all true! I never saw Mario's speech, this is the finest speech I have ever heard from a valedictorian!

  • Brilliant. She did get an education, she gained wisdom!

  • I'm confused.

This girl believes indoctrination should go out the window, and yet the only reason she was able to bless graduation with such a speech was thanks to indoctrination. Nice "argument," but what terrible points and evidence. "Speech for the ages?" I think not.

"I did extra credit even though I didn't need it." So now she's a hypocrite and a gloater.

I'm sure the high school that received this speech really appreciated her informing them their last 4 years were a waste. Thanks hun!

  • @tfranz08 No, she was able to see THROUGH the indoctrination while conforming at the same time to finish the program because there was no other way offered to her which I think was her point that flew over your head. For an 18 year old in today's culture, that's some feat and most likely CAN be considered a "speech for the ages" (or this age at least).

  • @tfranz08 You on the other hand have been very well indoctrinated!!! ha ha

You do not even understand her speech so she is much wiser at 18 than you are. Everything she said is true. My 76 yr old mother has been saying it all my life.

You are a drone for the state and seem to be unable to think outside the box.

  • ObaMa's new world encourages less small business' with higher taxes over 250K. She will be left to a low paying pencil pushing job and in debt for college loans for decades. In India and other countries college is free. However, they are moving here and taking jobs. American's are left holding college tuition loans and no job. You can no longer do, anything you want in America for work. Corp America, large bankers getting larger....are taking that away. Small banks are closing.

  • this was pretty =)

  • There's a lot of people on this rock who don't even know what school it. Don't be picky.

  • Her entire argument becomes redundant by the fact that she, the valedictorian, was the one person to come up with such a brilliant speech. maybe the system did work?

  • @ronniepage

That is an argument that is inside out backward upside down. It is an interesting point, but holds no merit in that she was the only person allowed to give the Valedictorian speech. Without other people giving the valedictorian speech you have no basis in which to ground you hypothesis in that there is no control. Furthermore, to use a cross reference of other valedictorian speeches from other graduates would violate the containment of the system, as would taking other years.

  • @detersbb That is the point she is making. Time to turn the system "inside out backward upside down" to rid it, of all evil, that now prevail. In all due respect...Maybe you were part of that schooling system for to long. Time to see past the illusion that was created by the lowest minds of humanity (The greedy, selfish. power freaks, bankster of our world) Rothschild, Rockefeller and friends Aren't you sick of having to ask permission (permit) even for doing lawful V. Legal things. I am!

  • @evilmoneysystem

What are you even talking about

  • @detersbb I was replying to your comment on "Finest Graduation Speech Ever Valedictorian" you made 2 weeks ago. If the "What are you even talking about" is about the. "evil , Illusion . greedy power freak. Lawful V. legal" part, then start with my channel from there you can let your imagination go,. Or copy and past the fallowing here on YT " Meet Your Strawman! " look at these videos. All i can add is : welcome to your new reality . Peace and freedom to you,

  • I loved this speech. I hope she winds up in Fairfield Iowa, where her perceptivity and thirst for true knowledge will find a home at Maharishi University of Management. Here, the approach to education takes into account the missing parts of most curricula: the knower of knowledge and the process of knowing, in addition to the known. The David Lynch Foundation is making this curriculum available to needy high school students worldwide.

  • A+ student speech, second only to Mario Savio's famous 1964 Berkeley speech. She's intelligent and AWAKE.

  • @Tuvoc310

Mario Savio's famous speech was one for the ages, and in many regards her speech is highly similar. Did she plagiarize him and his ideas or is the truth, the truth, and so little has changed in the last 45 years?

She is intelligent & far more aware than I was at her age. It will be interesting to see if she really becomes something in the future.

  • woah! she grasped it! "the aim of compulsory education is to create a standardized citizenry .... and mindlessly memorize others' opinions as true.." <-- what a line. This young lady is a brave and genius philosopher.

  • Quote from the speech: "...in retrospect, I cannot say that I am any more intelligent than my peers. I can attest that I am only the best at doing what I am told and working the system." That is so true. 15 years ago, I was a top student just like her. I excelled for the sake of excelling, for the sake of pleasing my teachers. And when I graduated, I had no idea who I was or what I wanted.

  • She is SO right. Just because someone is a Valdictorian, that doesn't mean that she is smarter than anyone else, she just fit the requirements more than the others...Her speech was right on....Did you know that some schools are cutting their musical, theatre, and art programs, in order to fund more math and science classes? It IS indoctrination...creativity is no longer aloud.

  • '

    where is this city

  • @bestamerica near Albany, New York

  • "If you want to be indoctrinated by Socialism and party, go to college... if you truly want an education, go to the Library!" Alvey Henderson - a "one mule farmer", and rebellious Moonshine Crafter. 1884 - 1971

  • Wow, she is so on the money here. She is truly wise. I wonder who she is and how she learned the truth. Who are her parents? They did a wonderful job raising this young lady.

  • Comment removed

  • She is a courageous hero. Her position of validictorian gave her the platform and she used it in an amazingly strategic way. Notice the body language of the woman directly behind her. ....a principal, perhaps? :)

  • Great great speech!

  • I agree this is awesome

  • Brilliant.

Sending to all my courageous parents who school their children at home. Thank you!

  • You are an inspiration to all of those thinkers that were ignored and tossed out simply because we did not go along with the status quo! I have hope for your generation! Thanks - Class of 1964

  • What if the goal I set is to learn everything taught to me. Will I learn smoething then?

  • This is my first comment ever on YouTube. This is one of the most important speeches in history.
