THE KEYS TO SALVATION: HEAR the gospel...Rom. 10:17. BELIEVE the gospel...John 3:16. REPENT of your sins...Luke 13:3. CONFESS Christ...Matthew 10:32. Be BAPTIZED...Acts 2:38. Live Faithfully...Rev. 2:10.
By baptism you obey Christ (Mark 16:15-16; Acts 10:48; 2 Thes. 1:7-9). Do your important souls a great favor and read what I have posted about baptism in the Bible for yourself, without getting caught up in the footnotes added by men. May our Maker bless you all as you challenge yourselves to this study. Praise King Jesus!
By baptism: you are saved from your sins (Mark 16:16; 1 Pet. 3:21). You have remission of sins (Acts 2:38). Sins are washed away by the blood of Christ (Acts 22:16; Heb. 9:22; Heb. 10:22; 1 Pet. 3:21). You enter into the church (1 Cor. 12:13; Acts 2:1-47). You enter into Christ (Gal. 3:26-27; Rom. 6:3-4). You put on Christ and become a child of God (Gal. 3:26-27). You are born again, a new creature (Rom. 6:3-4; 2 Cor. 5:17) You walk in newness of life (Rom. 6:3-6).
Salvation comes from obedience , obedience to the Gospel of Christ .. After hearing ( Romans 10:17 ) .. One must Believe , Repent and Be Baptized for the remission of sins ! Why ? ( Acts 2:37-38 , John 3:5 , 1 Peter 3:20-21 , Acts 8:30-39 , Ephesians 4:5 , Romans 6:1-6 )

It does not sound as if you have really read the other side. Have you? Please read an Lutheran or Church of Christ perspective. You make affirmations not at all supported by the passages you cite. Just look at the blessings in the NT associated with baptism. does your phrase "merely an act of obedience" do justice to these? God is the one who "works" in baptism (Col. 2:12). Acts 2:38 and Rom. 6:1ff associate wonderful blessings with baptism.....not apart from faith of course.
Who in the world is man to try to change God's plan of salvation? Jesus started the church and added to it the same way with all people. Period! In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. Acts 2:38, 10:48, 19:5, 22:16, Romans 6:3-6, Galatians 3:27, Mark 16:16, st John 3:3-5, Colossians 2:12, 3:17. 1 Peter 3:21. People that think they can come anyway they want, will experience Matthews 7:22-24. How can u be saved without putting on Christ? OBEY ACTS 2:38.
Why are people always trying to change God's word that probably never had a supernatural experience with God? Read Titus 3:5, works of righteousness, and James 2:14-26, works of faith. There 's a different. Faith without works is DEAD. If noah had faith, but never put work to it, by building the boat like God said to, we wouldn't be here. He had to build it, not the way he wanted, but the exact way God told him to. Salvation is the same, not your way, but God's way. Acts 2:38. Period!
Thank you for let me know the true mean of Baptism because most of Christian brothers I know takes too ritualistic on the term and make it as a neccesity
"No" to baptism??? Then why did Jesus say; "He that believes AND is baptized SHALL BE saved."? Jesus did not say that he that "believes" is saved...! "Shall be" is the PROMISE to save. To paraphrase in today's vernacular" "He that believes and submits to the waters of baptism, shall receive Grace (the Holy Spirit)."
Simple. Children cannot believe, meither can men who do not hear the Gospel or hear ANOTHER (denominational) Gospel!
Faith DOES NOT saves us: "For by grace are you saved THROUGH faith..." . We receive Grace when we receive the Holy Spirit. In the Book of Acts, only Cornelius and his house received the Holy Spirit first, but they were also baptized.
There is a difference between forgiveness and remission of sins. Forgiveness does not impute sin; remission washes away sin!
Mark 16:16, from mouth of our Savior Himself "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." (see John 3:5)
In John 3:5 Jesus told Nicodemus, "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
Jesus gave Peter the keys to the kingdom, and peter commanded us to be baptized in the name of Jesus. Peter binded so it was bound in heaven. but try to remember every scripture is used for teaching and they all go together in perfect plan how to be obediant.god bless brother.
If there is no point of baptism in water, then why in the world did John the Baptist baptize so many people in the water? He must've been crazy right?
Basically what you are saying is, just believe and be saved, nothing else needs to be accounted for. That is wrong, man is not saved by faith alone. James 2:17, "Even so faith, if hath not works, is dead, being alone." Faith + Works = Salvation.
John 3:16 When Jesus says believe, He isn't only talking about just believing that he lived and died for us. When someone believes in a healthy lifestyle, do they just know it exists and begone with it? No, they ACT out on their belief, just as we need to ACT out our belief in Jesus and do what He Himself has commanded, such as being baptized. If you truly believe that He died for you, you will carry out His commandments. I hope you now have a better understanding of the scripture in context.
Mark 16:16, not added at a later date when Jesus himself is speaking.
Believe + Baptized = saved. 1 + 2 = 3. Can you get 3 without the 2?, can you get 3 without the 1? No, you need both. The reason it says, "He that believeth not shall be damned" is because you cannot be baptized without believing first. James 2:26 "faith without works is dead." In other words believing isn't good enough. James 2:19 if believing saves you, then how come the devils aren't saved, they surely believe.
No offense. Your YouTube name contradicts your statements. It only shows that you are against Jesus. It nullifies all your ideas and opinions about Christian Baptism. Perhaps changing your youtube name will convince people somehow.
This is the problem with the unsaved teaching from the Bible. They don't have the wherewithal to even understand what it is they are reading, he was taught this heresy, it was not given to him by God.
Huh ...saved first, then baptized. Is that what we read in Acts 2:36-41? I see first: people convicted of sin, and of the true identity of Jesus Christ second: convinced believers seeking guidance as to what they should do third: a commandment to repent and be baptized fourth: a promise that the baptized believers will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit firth: The Lord adding those saved souls to His Church. How do you get the order reversed?
1 Peter 3:20,21- "who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge[a] of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ"
saying that it is not necessary is like saying that we shouldn't do it. If we are saved without it, then why do it? Why would "repent and be baptized" be one of the last things Christ says after his resurrection? I don't think anyone should be telling anyone else if they are "saved" or not. Being a Christian is not easy! there's too many "what if Christians" today that have adopted their own opinions or the Word. Therefore the fact is you don't know and shouldn't spread false teachings.
Water baptism was a ceremonial law practiced by the churches and has no spiritual value whatsoever. We are baptised through the water of the True Gospel. There is nothing we can say or do to assist in our salvation, it is entirely of God.
wow in the first 25 seconds you contradicted yourself by saying baptism was not necessary for salvation and then you had to be obedient to the commands of Jesus!! 2 Thess. 1:8 says you have to obey the gospel of Christ, which includes baptism. Also 1 Peter 3:21 says baptism now SAVES you. But dont let me confuse you with the facts.
Love your sincerity, but I was reading Acts of the Apostles recently and came to a pretty decent conclusion that belief isnt enough for the remission of our sin. When Saul "Paul" was on the road to Damascus, he saw Jesus, was blinded, and obeyed Jesus to talk to Ananias. It is safe to say that Paul BELIEVED!! However, he still retained his sin after belief. I know this because AFTER seeing the Lord and obeying him, Paul still had to be "baptized and wash away his sins". Acts22:16 God bless
You have to ask God for the Holy Ghost. We have to obey His commands and He will give it to us. (Acts 5:32) Baptism does not give us the Spirit of God. Anyone saying that baptism does not save us is wrong. (1 Peter 3:21) Being saved does not give us the Spirit of God. There is a difference between living a saved life and having the Spirit of God. Give you an example of a man teaching others and did not have the Spirit until Paul preached unto him. (Acts 18:24-28, 19:1-7)
The only way the about an hundred and twenty knew they had received God Spirit..they spoke in "other tongues" the bible say after they received the Spirit. (Acts 1:13-15, 2:1-4) There is nothing else that happened when God Spirit first came back to let them know they had received it. Peter declared that they had received the Spirit when peoples mocked them and thought they were drunk (Acts 2:12-21)
To get the Holy Ghost one must have Godly sorrow Repented and believe in God. Then...one can go ahead and get baptized in the name of Jesus after they have understood it. Then...one has to call upon the name of Jesus until He fill them w/ the Holy Ghost. One will speak in "other tongues after they have been filled. (Acts 2:1-4)
You get the Spirit calling on the name of the Lord. Not only just saying it...but continually calling on Him until you have been endured with power on high.
Tertullian (who was one of the first to use the word "trinity" in reference to God) and Hippolytus of Rome succeeded in changing the mode of water baptism from being done "in the name of Jesus" to use of the titles "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost," thereby left the "only NAME given among men whereby we must be saved" in baptism.Water baptism by total immersion in H2O in Jesus was a core doctrine of the 12apostles. Read the N. T. for yourself.Every baptism in the N.T. was done in the name Jesus.Paz!
Infant baptism started a long time ago because children and infants had a high mortality rate. So people had their infants baptized so that if there children died they would go to heaven.
Thanks for the vid. Very interesting. I reflected on what you were saying and realized that the GOOD THIEF was most probably never baptized, but we know he's in heaven.
I thought the same thing one day myself..but let me tell you something...that was totally two different covenants. The thief died before the covenant we are in today. Jesus left His apostles carry out the covenant and that covenant is...we have to Repent, Be Baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins, and we have to have the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:37-38) Jesus said we must be born of the water and of the Spirit. We cannot go to heaven if not. (John 3:5)
So, let's say for the sake of argument that I became a Christian one day, then later on that same day I was run over by a bus before I had the chance to be baptised - would this mean I went to hell?
In the Catholic Church you would be baptized by blood, or baptized of desire, as long as you had the intent to get baptized and the faith, you would be baptized by blood/desire.
Interesting. So it'd be ok if I died before I got baptised, just as long as I had the desire to get baptised? Is there a Biblical reference to back this up?
Also, for the sake of arguement! :
if I became a Christian and didn't know I had to get baptised because nobody told me, and therefore didn' t have the desire, and then died suddenly, then what? Would I go to Hell?
Not trying to be pedantic - honest! Just trying to work through the issues here!
IS OBEDIENCE NECESSARY? I think so. As Jesus our example was baptized(Ma1:9)-the Holy Spirit came on him after he came up- and command all to do so(Mark16:16)."He that believes and is baptized shall be saved' also James1:19-26 states "O vain man, faith without works is dead". If Paul explained that we are buried @ rise thru Christ in baptism Rom6:4 @ Col2:10-12.Look if you believe with all your heart (Ro10:9) you'll confess Jesus(Ro10:13) and get baptized(Acts8:37-38)as the Eunuch did.Read1Pe3:21
The only way the apostles knew they had the Spirit of God is...they spoke in "other tongues" as the Spirit gave utterance. They even had power to heal all manner of sickness...but they still had to have the Holy Ghost. (Matt 10:1) Jesus told them to go back to Jerusalem and wait for the promise which is the Holy Ghost (Luke 24:49) (Acts 1:4-5) Even Jesus mother Mary had to have the Holy Ghost. (Acts 1:13-15, 2:1-4)
Jesus said, "He that believes and is baptized shall be saved", but you say he that believes and is not baptized shall be saved. I believe that I'll go with what Jesus said. If someone doesn't believe, he will not be baptised. You have to work real hard to misunderstand this. You say that baptism is an act of obedience but is not necessary to salvation. So if I don't obey Jesus's commands, I can be saved? Read Matt. 7:21-23
many Catholics see baptism as being saved and born again, but its nowhere close. JF is right, you have to be saved first, then baptism is merely a show of faith to God.
Its more than faith to God. One sins cannot be remitted unless they go in the water in the name of Jesus. Jesus gave Peter the keys to the kingdom of Heaven. He built His church through Peter (Matt 16:18-19) That is why on the day of Pentecost...Peter addressed the peoples when they say men and brethren what shall we do. Peter told them to Repent and be baptized everyone of you for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:37-38)
well if i was to belive like you do then i could rip over half the pages out of my bible and only read and study the few that are left and be ok. i dont think so.
Lord i pray thee to bind the spirit of doubt in this man and loose his mind from the trash
he has been bound with open his eyes to see the truth i pray lord that if he hasent went under in the name of Jesus that you provide that to him in Jesus name Amen
at 1:28 you said, "born of the spirit" the verse in john 3:3-5 says unless one is born of the water and the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God..... i'd like to tell you that the water is baptism and the spirit is what you recieve when you are baptized. Acts 2:38
Faith without action is dead, Baptism is required, salvation and baptism always goes together! We put on Christ when we are baptized said in Galatians! Throughout NT you can see lots of evidence about baptism and salvation are related! Paul, Cornelius, Lydia and family, 3000 people, etc etc...they were all baptized after they believed! Get Right! and it was a commandment by Jesus before he ascended to heaven.
i agree it is a commandment but it is not true that it saves. Faith in Christ saves. Believing He died and rose again for our sin is the requirement. They all were baptized to show their faith and identification with Christ Jesus. We are baptized by the Holy Ghost in Spirit Baptism. John 3:5 'water' does regard to being born physically...
Baptism is necessary for salvation as we can see clearly in 1st Peter 3:20-21 because they formerly did not obey, when God's patience waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through WATER 21. Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, If we are not baptized when we go through the steps of salvation how do we put on Christ
no atheist would be baptized, plus baptism is required to enter heaven just as jezuzfreek acknowledged that Mark 16:16 says that those who believe and are baptized, whether they are part of the true book or not they are still accepted, so i would say yes because i believe in only one baptism but they are not going to heaven without the belief in Christ
You Tuber JOHNMARCUS7 doesn't agree with you. He says that if someone is temporarily an atheist then later on a believer that they need to be baptized again.
I appreciate your gentle spirit but what you have not done is show us the scriptures that support your belief that water baptism is just an act of obedience. Show us a scripture explaining the purpose of baptism. And you are making obedience to Christ an option. Obedience is not an option, isn't it necessary? Thanks
At 5:50, this guy actually says, "So the key elements of salvation is (sic) we need to first physically born of the water. It means we have to be born from the mother's womb." ??? Ummm ... well ... I guess it's nice to know we all made it through step one. At least he acknowledges that "a few people twist verses". His slant renders the verse, "Unless a man is born of his momma, then later born of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom ..." He is no less confused than Nichodemus was.
Acts 10:44-47 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.45and they of the circumcision which believed were astonished as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.46For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.Then answered Peter,47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? FORGIVEN,AND SAVED BEFORE WATER BAPTISM???????
suppose im in the dessert and i ask Jesus Christ to forgive me for who i am and save me so he does save me and notice theirs no water mmmm so then i die i didnt get water baptized you mean to tell me im gone to hell i didnt have a way to be water baptized 1 water can not forgive me or save me some scriptures teach blood baptizm in Christ not water Mark 16,Acts 2 u think water can be remission for your sins no way only the blood of Christ Jesus if u belief in Jesus + water something is wrong
James is refuting the belief that a person can have faith without producing any good works (James 2:17-18). James is emphasizing the point that genuine faith in Christ will produce a changed life and good works (James 2:20-26). James is not saying that justification is by faith plus works, but rather that a person who is truly justified by faith will have good works in his life.
Baptism is not a work... Baptism is a part of our faith...Baptism is FOR the remission of sins and the gift of the holy spirit.. ACTS2:38.. NOT BECAUSE OF..Baptism IS a part of our salvation... not some work afterward!... cus thats just not scriptural
HaHa. 60% of your comment is a Bible quote, 25% is a quote from the poster of the video, and get a -2. Then someone else above makes up a hypothetical situation (the very same hypothetical could be made with faith) and gets a +1. Faith without works is dead, and the speaker necessarily believes he was saved AT THE POINT of a dead faith-it is inescapable. Faith alone-Faith only-Faith plus nothing-MUST be faith without works, not even repentance or even loving God. Just Faith alone-and dead.
as for your stand on john 3:16.. the verse says that.... whosever believeth in me shall not perish but have everlasting life. NOW UNDERSTAND THIS.. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT... READY... WHETHER YOU GO TO HEAVEN OR HELL, IT WILL BE EVERLASTING. YOU ARE GONNA BE IN HOT WATER BY SAYING BELIEF IS THE ONLY CONDITION WE MUST MEET TO ACQUIRE SALVATION
Just what have you done? You want to contradict John 3:16? Also, John 1:12.
1 Peter 3:21. Water baptism is symbolism, an "appeal of a good conscience toward God". Baptism that saves is identification with Jesus and accepting his death for me, personally.
would you argue mark 16:16 if it sounded like this... he who eats and digests their food will be saved. but he who does not eat will be damned. Now if someone doesnt eat the food ofcourse their not gonna digest it... same goes with baptism.. if someone doesnt believe. ofcourse they wont be baptized...that should clear mark 16:16 up
cont...I didn't even know I was "born again" for several months. I didn't even want to call myself a christian because, even though I accepted Christ, I did not feel worthy of this title. Then to top all this off when I finally had a water baptism ceremony, another denomination said it was not done in Jesus name ONLY therefore I cannot be saved...sheesh! Thank God His Holy Spirit that lives in me guides me thru all of this deception.
I was forgiven and my sins were washed away as I was sitting on my porch reading my bible and talking to God,asking Him to forgive me of everything i could think of that I did that was wrong in His eyes
I was baptised in water 6mo.later as an outward showing of my commitment to Christ, as a born again beliver. You should not get baptised or even take communion if you don't even know why or what it means. These things are for "born again" believers.
The full work of remission comes when the repentant person obeys God's command to be baptized in Jesus' name, thereby believing on the blood of Jesus to wash away his sin.
As stated in Acts 2:38,- water baptism is "for remission of sins". We are to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the purpose of obtaining the remission of sins. The word "for" is translated from the Greek word eis and means "in order to obtain"- It does not mean "because of" as some people try to teach. In instituting the Lord's Supper, Jesus said, "For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins" (Matthew 26:28).
Jesus shed His blood on Calvary in order to obtain remission of sins for us, and this is why we are to be baptized. In the original Greek, the same phraseology is used in both verses. It would be ridiculous to think that Jesus shed His blood because our sins were already remitted. Thus, we are baptized not because our sins are already remitted, but we are baptized in order to obtain the remission of our sins
i love when different christian religions argue with each other. maybe jezuzfreek is wrong and baptism i necessary... god wont be happy! or maybe yee all have it wrong and the only god is allah... if only god had been more clear....
So are you insinuating that Jesus's sacrifice is not sufficient for your salvation? And that those who are saved, but are not baptised (such as myself) not through choice, but through lack of access, will be sent to hell?
What is going on here? This context takes more than one poet.
Act 19:1 It happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples. 2 He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And they said to him, "No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." 3 And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" And they said, "Into John's baptism."
Act 19:4 Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus." 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying. 7 There were in all about twelve men.
What is said about John's Baptism, Baptism in Jesus name, and the Holy Spirit in Acts 19:1-7.
I ment the contest takes more than one post not poet. I am a poet however and have many poems on youtube. Than must have been what I was thinking about.
Please don't quote John 3:16 for salvation only. Belief is not enough. Keep in mind even the demons believe in Jesus. What about Repentance Luke 13? Can you be saved by believing but not repenting? How about Romans 10:9? I believe, but never said "Jesus is Lord!" Am I saved? If you claim we should obey the word of God, take into consideration all of these passages for salvation not just John 3:16
Baptism is not a work. The one who is being baptized is just being submerged in water. The baptizer, who physically submerges that person is doing the work.
Baptism is to recieve the forgiveness of sins that Christ Jesus died for. What purpose is there to be baptized if you don't believe? NONE! There for if you BELIEVE you will BE BAPTIZED. Mark 16:16.
Those who question if Baptism is nessary. Why did Christ do it? Why all the sudden He started commiting Miracles? You don't apply you life to anyone but Christ.
I made a web site about salvation. It will add to what you already know. Please stop by and read 'Salvation According to Scripture' and let me know what you think. You can use the message board to respond.
[21] The like figure whereunto even BAPTISM DOTH ALSO NOW SAVE US (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Hey bro (or sis.. haha whichever you are), not everything you need for your faith walk is in the bible. read up on 1 Cor 11:2, 2 Thess 3:14-15. Those passages beg the question "what is the tradition?"
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
Are we equipped for EVERY good work or aren't we...You can't show me ONE instance in Scripture where anyone prayed TO Jesus much less asking Him into their hearts..
Salvation is not found in tradtions of man...so I could care less about any of them.
Alright, I give you three passages, you give me one.
I've prayed about this for a while. It seems you've only read and interpreted in the way you want to see it.
Be careful with that. We have the Holy Spirit to guide us. Ask him for guidance. You cannot say that you do not need the Holy Spirit for guidance without blaspheming. Just a reccomedation.
You my friend are the one that said "not everything we need is in the Bible".
How many passages do you need to see that you are wrong? One is not enough? The Bible says that the Bible is ALL we need for every good work...
My question to you is are you in Christ because in Christ there is grace and salvation. NO WHERE else my friend....if you need more passages I'll gladly offer them up...
Ok. the passage you gave from Timothy does not pertain to the question at hand. why? because the scriptures referred to in the verse are not the scriptures we have: it's referring to the old testament. I won't explain why, but I hope you can reason it out. if not,well.. let me know I guess.
As for the verses I brought forth, what do you have to say about them? you can't simply ignore them, especially if you believe in sola scripture.
Are you forgetting who wrote the words "ALL Scripture" in 2 Tim 3:16???...Are you saying that because there were no Bibles in Paul's day we can't take "ALL Scripture" to mean OT and NT???...
I'm not sure what you're point is about oral traditions but if you follow some then so be it...I believe ALL authority if found in Christ, who is the Word...not sure what your point is sorry...
On another note if you read James Chpt 2 it is very clear that faith alone does not save us. Faith requires ACTION. The next question is what actions are required then if we are saved by grace through faith.
First we must HEAR the truth...then we must RESPOND by believing, confessing and REPENTING...Then we must put on Christ in Baptism and in doing so we are given the Holy Spirit
faith alone basically means if we believe we are saved and Scripture is clear that belief alone won't doit
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
The order then is FIRST REPENT, then be baptized for REMISSION OF SINS, and THEN you receive your spiritual re-birth.
The symbolic baptism taught by many is not Scriptural. Faith requires more that belief in Christ. It requires repentance and baptism as well as belief.
No dude. if He had, it wouldn't be called the long and narrow. it would be too easy and wouldn't require much love out of us, and that would suck. He doesn't want robots, he wants us to have a loving relationship with him, and by needing to search out what he wants us to do shows just how much we want to love him by doing what he wants.
Really? Good parents don't do that to their children. Good parents lay out the rules as clear as possible and don't require their children to prove their love. So, God is quite needy and he has a huge ego. Does it strike you as suspect that God needs his ass kissed this much?
You really want to get into the history of why we need to do what God says? It goes back to the garden of Eden. Since then, we've been unworthy. We've spat in God's face and rejected him billions of times, because to us, what we want is better than what God wants, even though God is God and we are not. AND YET God still gives us the chance to have a relationship with him? Of course there's going to be work to it. Have you ever been in a relationship? have no had to do absolutely nothing to keep
have you not had to do anything to keep it healthy? Relationships take work. It isn't easy. It was easy, then we screwed it up by deciding that our way was better.
My replies are getting all messed up... sorry. this one (started with "you really want to") is for telethon123 and the other one ("Alright, I give you") was for TruthChamp. They aren't going where I thought they would.. my apologies.
Uh, no. I was not in the Garden of Eden and it would be immoral to hold me accountable for anything that took place there. I've done nothing to be deemed "unworthy". You imply that we are arrogant for preferring our way to God's, yet the topic here is the lack of clarity with which God has communicated his wishes.
I have been in relationships, and they do take work. But one has to be an asshole in order to INTENTIONALLY cause misunderstandings and test the love of the other.
Telethon, you're blaming the mistakes of humanity on God. You're saying that God intentionally makes it difficult for us to know and do what he wants. That's simply not true. The early Christians had it right, because they had been with Jesus. They passed on what they had been doing to the new Christians who would join the church. It's all there for us to access, but people make it blurry by veering off track and taking things out of context and making up their own rules.
You are contradicting yourself. Before, you said that God's wishes were unclear because if they weren't "it would be too easy and it wouldn't require much love out of us...", now you say that they are perfectly clear. Which is it?
4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;6Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
20Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.21The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Infant baptism gets rid of any demonic attachments. If you have never had experience of "the enemy", you will find it difficult to really comprehend this as a reality. Those of you who have seen, been attacked by, and had Deliverence from such forces, know all too well the importance of such covenants with God.
"Infant" baptism is not necessary. Because we are born innocent, not knowing whats right and wrong. Even tho we are all born into sin, "The First death" -We were not alive until we are born-. When we Understand, We must put off the Old Man of Sin -be born again- John 3:1-8. How are we born again? Through baptism which is a "Work" of God, like you said. But you must have "Faith" first. Then work, Because faith without works is Dead.-faith and works is not dead- James 2:14-26
Very good video. In John 3:5, the word "water" is refuring to physical birth (fyi, embrionic fluid is the water they HE speaks of). Best evidence that Baptisum is not needed for salvation is Luke 23:40-43. This is where a crucified thief ased to be saved and was. He was NOT baptised and God said: "Verily, I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise." jezuzfreek777 , THANK YOU for useing the KJV and not those false "bibles."
Water baptism is not necessary for salvation. First of all, unbelievers are a slave to sin (Rom. 6:16-20). An unbeliever is only going to choose from that which is sin. Forever...until God makes him a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17). That's only going to happen if God has chosen you for salvation (2 Thess. 2:13-14). God makes us born again not by our will but by His will (John 1:12-13).
So, what is going to bring an unbeliever, who does no good, seeking, or can't even understand (Rom. 3:10-12), to want to go do something good...water baptism??
The Lord tells us to do all of these impossible things (i.e. be perfect as your Father is perfect, follow the commandments, etc.), but then He tells us that we can't. God chooses us for salvation (2 Thess. 2:13-14). Only then are we made a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17). Only the saved are made new creatures. So, God is the one who brings someone to salvation. Works are not necessary -- not even faith (Phil. 1:29).
Let's say that christianity or islam is right... what the hell is the point of living down here in 60-70-80 years? Is earth like a training camp? We have a few years to prove we're worthy?
If you simply believe in Jesus you'll be granted eternal life. It says so in the Bible clear as day. Nowhere does it say that you have to get dunked in a lake by a priest.
simply believing in Jesus does not grant eternal life, but instead the acceptance of him as your personal Lord and Savior; even Satan believes in Jesus ;). Many people live their lives thinking they must only live a good life, and believe in "God", but works without God are meaningless; only with Jesus can we be truly saved. You probably meant this anyways, but I just wanted to clarify ^_^.
Did you know that if you've ever lusted after someone you risk going to Hell. There's things like that among many many other things. About 90% of the population is going to Hell according to the Bible. Sure it reads all nice but nobody really repents most of their sins. People will continue having premartial sex, having abortions, wanting money, wanting war, etc.
that's the thing: the wages of sin is death. Even if you've sinned once you risk going to hell, yes. But Jesus came to save us to we DIDN'T have to go to hell. He bore all the punishment just to save us, and he said that if we simply accept the gift of salvation and follow him, we will have eternal life.
of course, once you are a Christian, you should try not to sin. Making the same sin over and over and simply saying 'forgive me for I have sinned' again and again is hypocrisy. The bible says that once we are forgiven, we should leave our life of sin; repent, so to say. Any I do believe that 95% of all "Christians" make the others look bad. Jesus freak and VenomFangX are some of the few who represent what true Christianity is.
Yeah, who knows how they live though. They could continually sin all the time. In order to not sin all the time is really difficult. Even some religious leaders say it's next to impossible not to sin.
yeah...no one is perfect, and sin is inevitable. But God sees our hearts, and forgive us when we ask for it. All we can do is try to follow in Jesus' footsteps, and live the way God would want us to. :D
Yeah, it's said that a small amount of people make it to Heaven in the Bible. So maybe it's those who go the extra mile who win out. Hopefully most of us aren't damned.
You know what, I'm endorsing a false belief to have a real conversation with a believer. But you wouldn't have known that if I hadn't told you so I don't care... My true beliefs are that of, I don't know.
Baptism is a Sacrement which removes original sin & Provides MANY Graces From GOD. If You Are Batistized as an infant ( I was) I Can Feel it! We have Confirmation as a Teen where we formally Accept Christ & Denounce Satan Thus Confirming Our Baptisim of our free will.
Good video! I was baptized as an infant in the RC institution. After becoming a Christian and being reborn, I was properly baptized as an expression of my faith.
Excellent explanation. One suggestion, try using sticky notes on the pages you want to read from, as though they were tabs. It works pretty well.
The time it took to find the scriptures didn't bother me, I thought it was normal to quick, but if you want to speed things up, that's what I would do.

OBEY ACTS 2:38.
rossdaboss1959 1 year ago
Why are people always trying to change God's word that probably never had a supernatural experience with God? Read Titus 3:5, works of righteousness, and James 2:14-26, works of faith. There 's a different. Faith without works is DEAD. If noah had faith, but never put work to it, by building the boat like God said to, we wouldn't be here. He had to build it, not the way he wanted, but the exact way God told him to. Salvation is the same, not your way, but God's way. Acts 2:38. Period!

ThePhnxman1 1 year ago
Faith DOES NOT saves us: "For by grace are you saved THROUGH faith..." . We receive Grace when we receive the Holy Spirit. In the Book of Acts, only Cornelius and his house received the Holy Spirit first, but they were also baptized.
There is a difference between forgiveness and remission of sins. Forgiveness does not impute sin; remission washes away sin!

What is the point of mentioning water then? 5:30
MastaE22 1 year ago
Basically what you are saying is, just believe and be saved, nothing else needs to be accounted for. That is wrong, man is not saved by faith alone. James 2:17, "Even so faith, if hath not works, is dead, being alone." Faith + Works = Salvation.
MastaE22 1 year ago
John 3:16 When Jesus says believe, He isn't only talking about just believing that he lived and died for us. When someone believes in a healthy lifestyle, do they just know it exists and begone with it? No, they ACT out on their belief, just as we need to ACT out our belief in Jesus and do what He Himself has commanded, such as being baptized. If you truly believe that He died for you, you will carry out His commandments. I hope you now have a better understanding of the scripture in context.
MastaE22 1 year ago
Mark 16:16, not added at a later date when Jesus himself is speaking.
Believe + Baptized = saved. 1 + 2 = 3. Can you get 3 without the 2?, can you get 3 without the 1? No, you need both. The reason it says, "He that believeth not shall be damned" is because you cannot be baptized without believing first. James 2:26 "faith without works is dead." In other words believing isn't good enough. James 2:19 if believing saves you, then how come the devils aren't saved, they surely believe.

How do you get the order reversed?

Does Baptism Save Us? The Bible has the answers
Sheetiron 1 year ago
saying that it is not necessary is like saying that we shouldn't do it. Therefore the fact is you don't know and shouldn't spread false teachings.
ryansc4 1 year ago
Water baptism was a ceremonial law practiced by the churches and has no spiritual value whatsoever. We are baptised through the water of the True Gospel. There is nothing we can say or do to assist in our salvation, it is entirely of God.

too bad you weren't not around to tell Philip, and Peter they were wasting their time.
And don't forget about telling the Holy Ghost that He didn't know what He was doing.

Act 10:47 Can any man FORBID water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
You should of been there to put your hand up.
But that makes you a false teacher doesn't it?

Love your sincerity, but I was reading Acts of the Apostles recently and came to a pretty decent conclusion that belief isnt enough for the remission of our sin. When Saul "Paul" was on the road to Damascus, he saw Jesus, was blinded, and obeyed Jesus to talk to Ananias. It is safe to say that Paul BELIEVED!! However, he still retained his sin after belief. I know this because AFTER seeing the Lord and obeying him, Paul still had to be "baptized and wash away his sins". Acts22:16 God bless

I agree with you that if baptized, it must be by immersion.
However, the scriptures are clear that baptism is not just important, but rather, it is essential for salvation.

(John 3:5)

So, let's say for the sake of argument that I became a Christian one day, then later on that same day I was run over by a bus before I had the chance to be baptised - would this mean I went to hell?
badegg3210 3 years ago
In the Catholic Church you would be baptized by blood, or baptized of desire, as long as you had the intent to get baptized and the faith, you would be baptized by blood/desire.
macdaddyz1 3 years ago
Interesting. So it'd be ok if I died before I got baptised, just as long as I had the desire to get baptised? Is there a Biblical reference to back this up?
Also, for the sake of arguement! :
if I became a Christian and didn't know I had to get baptised because nobody told me, and therefore didn' t have the desire, and then died suddenly, then what? Would I go to Hell?
Not trying to be pedantic - honest! Just trying to work through the issues here!
badegg3210 3 years ago

Andrewkinghorn15 3 years ago

James 2:24 says "you see that a man is justified by works and NOT Faith alone." YOU SAID FAITH ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!...THAT IS THE WORST MAN
manofgod193 3 years ago

YOU ARE GONNA BE IN HOT WATER BY SAYING BELIEF IS THE ONLY CONDITION WE MUST MEET TO ACQUIRE SALVATION
manofgod193 3 years ago
Just what have you done? You want to contradict John 3:16? Also, John 1:12.
1 Peter 3:21. Water baptism is symbolism, an "appeal of a good conscience toward God". Baptism that saves is identification with Jesus and accepting his death for me, personally.
adslkpt3 3 years ago
would you argue mark 16:16 if it sounded like this... he who eats and digests their food will be saved. but he who does not eat will be damned.

These things are for "born again" believers.
belovedgirltoHim 3 years ago
The full work of remission comes when the repentant person obeys God's command to be baptized in Jesus' name, thereby believing on the blood of Jesus to wash away his sin.
Revelation1967 3 years ago
As stated in Acts 2:38,- water baptism is "for remission of sins". We are to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the purpose of obtaining the remission of sins. The word "for" is translated from the Greek word eis and means "in order to obtain"- It does not mean "because of" as some people try to teach. In instituting the Lord's Supper, Jesus said, "For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins" (Matthew 26:28).
Revelation1967 3 years ago

I agree wholeheartedly!

JonahTorn 3 years ago
Act 19:4 Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus." 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying. 7 There were in all about twelve men.
What is said about John's Baptism, Baptism in Jesus name, and the Holy Spirit in Acts 19:1-7.

If you claim we should obey the word of God, take into consideration all of these passages for salvation not just John 3:16

baptism may not save us DIRECTLY, but we are saved by faith and baptism signifies our faith and proves it to God.

4:23
Baptism is not a work. The one who is being baptized is just being submerged in water. The baptizer, who physically submerges that person is doing the work.
Baptism is to recieve the forgiveness of sins that Christ Jesus died for. What purpose is there to be baptized if you don't believe? NONE! There for if you BELIEVE you will BE BAPTIZED. Mark 16:16.
2:30
If you think the Bible has been manipulated in anyway, then you don't agree with 2 Tim. 3:16
Baptism is required.

Hey bro (or sis.. haha whichever you are), not everything you need for your faith walk is in the bible. read up on 1 Cor 11:2, 2 Thess 3:14-15. Those passages beg the question "what is the tradition?"
Just think about it, is all.

I disagree...2 Timothy 3:16,17
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
Are we equipped for EVERY good work or aren't we...You can't show me ONE instance in Scripture where anyone prayed TO Jesus much less asking Him into their hearts..
Salvation is not found in tradtions of man...so I could care less about any of them.
Read Eph 1..slowly
TruthChamp 4 years ago
Alright, I give you three passages, you give me one.
I've prayed about this for a while. It seems you've only read and interpreted in the way you want to see it.
Be careful with that. We have the Holy Spirit to guide us. Ask him for guidance. You cannot say that you do not need the Holy Spirit for guidance without blaspheming. Just a reccomedation.

RE: likmytrac
You my friend are the one that said "not everything we need is in the Bible".
How many passages do you need to see that you are wrong? One is not enough? The Bible says that the Bible is ALL we need for every good work...
My question to you is are you in Christ because in Christ there is grace and salvation. NO WHERE else my friend....if you need more passages I'll gladly offer them up...
TruthChamp 4 years ago
Ok. the passage you gave from Timothy does not pertain to the question at hand. why? because the scriptures referred to in the verse are not the scriptures we have: it's referring to the old testament. I won't explain why, but I hope you can reason it out. if not,well.. let me know I guess.
As for the verses I brought forth, what do you have to say about them? you can't simply ignore them, especially if you believe in sola scripture.
likmytrakter 4 years ago
RE: likmytrac
Are you forgetting who wrote the words "ALL Scripture" in 2 Tim 3:16???...Are you saying that because there were no Bibles in Paul's day we can't take "ALL Scripture" to mean OT and NT???...
I'm not sure what you're point is about oral traditions but if you follow some then so be it...I believe ALL authority if found in Christ, who is the Word...not sure what your point is sorry...
TruthChamp 4 years ago
On another note if you read James Chpt 2 it is very clear that faith alone does not save us. Faith requires ACTION. The next question is what actions are required then if we are saved by grace through faith.
First we must HEAR the truth...then we must RESPOND by believing, confessing and REPENTING...Then we must put on Christ in Baptism and in doing so we are given the Holy Spirit
faith alone basically means if we believe we are saved and Scripture is clear that belief alone won't doit
TruthChamp 4 years ago
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
The order then is FIRST REPENT, then be baptized for REMISSION OF SINS, and THEN you receive your spiritual re-birth.
The symbolic baptism taught by many is not Scriptural. Faith requires more that belief in Christ. It requires repentance and baptism as well as belief.

How do you become a Member of Christ?
rheemruudweatherking 4 years ago
RE: rheemruud
1. Believe
2. Be baptized INTO Christ...
Galatians 3
You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized INTO Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ
The only way to be saved is to be IN Christ and there's only one way to get there.

Does it strike any of you as suspect that god didn't lay out his rules more clearly?
telethon123 4 years ago
No dude. if He had, it wouldn't be called the long and narrow. it would be too easy and wouldn't require much love out of us, and that would suck. He doesn't want robots, he wants us to have a loving relationship with him, and by needing to search out what he wants us to do shows just how much we want to love him by doing what he wants.
likmytrakter 4 years ago
Really? Good parents don't do that to their children. Good parents lay out the rules as clear as possible and don't require their children to prove their love. So, God is quite needy and he has a huge ego. Does it strike you as suspect that God needs his ass kissed this much?
telethon123 4 years ago
You really want to get into the history of why we need to do what God says? It goes back to the garden of Eden. Since then, we've been unworthy. We've spat in God's face and rejected him billions of times, because to us, what we want is better than what God wants, even though God is God and we are not. AND YET God still gives us the chance to have a relationship with him? Of course there's going to be work to it. Have you ever been in a relationship? have no had to do absolutely nothing to keep
likmytrakter 4 years ago
have you not had to do anything to keep it healthy? Relationships take work. It isn't easy. It was easy, then we screwed it up by deciding that our way was better.
My replies are getting all messed up... sorry. this one (started with "you really want to") is for telethon123 and the other one ("Alright, I give you") was for TruthChamp. They aren't going where I thought they would.. my apologies.
likmytrakter 4 years ago
But one has to be an asshole in order to INTENTIONALLY cause misunderstandings and test the love of the other.
telethon123 4 years ago
Telethon, you're blaming the mistakes of humanity on God. You're saying that God intentionally makes it difficult for us to know and do what he wants. That's simply not true. The early Christians had it right, because they had been with Jesus. They passed on what they had been doing to the new Christians who would join the church. It's all there for us to access, but people make it blurry by veering off track and taking things out of context and making up their own rules.
likmytrakter 4 years ago
You are contradicting yourself. Before, you said that God's wishes were unclear because if they weren't "it would be too easy and it wouldn't require much love out of us...", now you say that they are perfectly clear. Which is it?
telethon123 4 years ago
I agree with you on this, being Christian is about following Christ's teachings and example, not putting water on your head.

Infant baptism gets rid of any demonic attachments. If you have never had experience of "the enemy", you will find it difficult to really comprehend this as a reality. Those of you who have seen, been attacked by, and had Deliverence from such forces, know all too well the importance of such covenants with God.
gwyn1971 4 years ago
I do not find this in the bible... Please show me.
robertbmPU 4 years ago
"Infant" baptism is not necessary. Because we are born innocent, not knowing whats right and wrong. Even tho we are all born into sin, "The First death" -We were not alive until we are born-. When we Understand, We must put off the Old Man of Sin -be born again- John 3:1-8. How are we born again? Through baptism which is a "Work" of God, like you said. But you must have "Faith" first. Then work, Because faith without works is Dead.-faith and works is not dead- James 2:14-26
rheemruudweatherking 4 years ago
Very good video. In John 3:5, the word "water" is refuring to physical birth (fyi, embrionic fluid is the water they HE speaks of). Best evidence that Baptisum is not needed for salvation is Luke 23:40-43. This is where a crucified thief ased to be saved and was. He was NOT baptised and God said: "Verily, I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise." jezuzfreek777 , THANK YOU for useing the KJV and not those false "bibles."
SEspider 4 years ago
Actually Luke 23: 40-43 is one of the weakest arguments that baptism isn't necessary. Look at my 5 minute vid and you will see why.
HolinessMinister 4 years ago
Water baptism is not necessary for salvation. First of all, unbelievers are a slave to sin (Rom. 6:16-20). An unbeliever is only going to choose from that which is sin. Forever...until God makes him a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17). That's only going to happen if God has chosen you for salvation (2 Thess. 2:13-14). God makes us born again not by our will but by His will (John 1:12-13).
zkueker88 4 years ago
So, what is going to bring an unbeliever, who does no good, seeking, or can't even understand (Rom. 3:10-12), to want to go do something good...water baptism??
zkueker88 4 years ago
The Lord tells us to do all of these impossible things (i.e. be perfect as your Father is perfect, follow the commandments, etc.), but then He tells us that we can't. God chooses us for salvation (2 Thess. 2:13-14). Only then are we made a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17). Only the saved are made new creatures. So, God is the one who brings someone to salvation. Works are not necessary -- not even faith (Phil. 1:29).

If you simply believe in Jesus you'll be granted eternal life. It says so in the Bible clear as day. Nowhere does it say that you have to get dunked in a lake by a priest.
silvercade 4 years ago
simply believing in Jesus does not grant eternal life, but instead the acceptance of him as your personal Lord and Savior; even Satan believes in Jesus ;). Many people live their lives thinking they must only live a good life, and believe in "God", but works without God are meaningless; only with Jesus can we be truly saved. You probably meant this anyways, but I just wanted to clarify ^_^.
showoffjp 4 years ago
Did you know that if you've ever lusted after someone you risk going to Hell. There's things like that among many many other things. About 90% of the population is going to Hell according to the Bible. Sure it reads all nice but nobody really repents most of their sins. People will continue having premartial sex, having abortions, wanting money, wanting war, etc.
silvercade 4 years ago
that's the thing: the wages of sin is death. Even if you've sinned once you risk going to hell, yes. But Jesus came to save us to we DIDN'T have to go to hell. He bore all the punishment just to save us, and he said that if we simply accept the gift of salvation and follow him, we will have eternal life.
showoffjp 4 years ago
of course, once you are a Christian, you should try not to sin. Making the same sin over and over and simply saying 'forgive me for I have sinned' again and again is hypocrisy. The bible says that once we are forgiven, we should leave our life of sin; repent, so to say. Any I do believe that 95% of all "Christians" make the others look bad. Jesus freak and VenomFangX are some of the few who represent what true Christianity is.
showoffjp 4 years ago
Yeah, who knows how they live though. They could continually sin all the time. In order to not sin all the time is really difficult. Even some religious leaders say it's next to impossible not to sin.
silvercade 4 years ago
yeah...no one is perfect, and sin is inevitable. But God sees our hearts, and forgive us when we ask for it. All we can do is try to follow in Jesus' footsteps, and live the way God would want us to. :D
