  • i've known about this for some time, but this gave me a much better look into it. it would be amazing to spend a night there, and i'm sure the local economy would benefit greatly from it. adding extra platforms might be a possibility as well. gaining true recognition as a country would be awesome.

  • Is it an island, a country, a principality or a vessel ? you don't go aboard an island a islands don't have galley kitchens. The residents of Sealand seem confused as to what they're living on. To me its a man made island, it may have been a boat or pontoon when towed out there but its not going to float anywhere now is it ? So why refer to it as aboard or a galley. surely you land and its ashore and its a kitchen.

  • Anyone else here a Lord or Lady?

  • Um, Australia was founded in 1901, which is in the 20th century. So, Sealand was not the only example Thank You very much!

  • @adjt113

Please. Australia may have gained its independence from Great Britain in 1901 but was hardly "founded" in 1901.

By way of contrast SEVERAL countries in Europe only gained their independence after World War One, and becoming nations for their ethnic groups (previously forced to live in the European major powers). Finland for instance in 1918. They are an ethnic group with their very own language (there's no Australian language).

    Czechoslovakia,Estonia,Latvia, states in Africa...

  • @adjt113 a bit more. but yeah youre right. well partially anyways:

Australia was founded on 26 January 1788, but it became 'The Commonwealth of Australia' upon federation of the states on 1 January 1901.
