I am very annoyed that the director of the choir i accompany does not want to do this wonderful piece! Could it be that I can play 5/4 but they cannot sing 5/4 (or she fears they cannot)? Poor director, methinks!
The unbelievable amount of time and effort put in shows! The combination of five beats in a bar, canon and complicated harmonies is fiendishly difficult and they've done a brilliant job. Not only that, they make it sound easy - the mark of true artists.
I accompany a SATB choir and I have the SA version of this.....I want this version because I want to entice her to perform it, because I love playing it!!

Note the smiles. I sang this piece with the San Antonio Symphony Mastersingers in 1994 and it is such a cute and fun piece to sing. Rutter is incredible.
hear the flute? thats apart of the music in that the pianist is using our pianist is so good she plays the flute part and then she plays the left hand for the deep part btw i am in the cincinnati boychoir.
Great job, gang! Nice to see composers thinking out of the 4/4 box! (This piece is in 5/4 time, for those of you who don't know.)
