@64noyt I have a hedgehog as a pet she's pretty friendly. Most hedgehogs are but, some will bite. If you are thinking about getting a hedgehog I would recommend researching it first to make sure it would be the right pet for you. But, they make great pets!!:)

hedgehogs are the worst pets ever. I used to own one when I was a kid. They are nocturnal creatures so it would wake me up in the middle of the night by escaping from its cage then shitting and pissing everywhere in my room.

Headgehog headquarters have alot of info.

they live beetween 4 - 7 years i think, but i could have read wrong.

Breeders ( the best/ safest place) are beetween 130 and 225 depending. Some might be higher.

Pet chops( because not all of us are lucky enought to have breeders around), i'm guessing are maybe 100 + dollars. Best to look around for prices.

But make sure you handle and check out the herdgehog before you buy it!

@leopardgeckocrazy13 zilch to begin with, daughter walks dog, dog finds dying hedgehog on pavement, juvenille too small to go into hibernation - phone organisations supposed to help - told get on with it - give up spare room to hedgehog, hedgehog gets stronger - hedgehog now attacks me and hates me!!!! Its a good thing I suppose co's at least it survived but it obviously doesn't appreciate the vets bills, the clearing up its doodaas, giving it a home till it can survive!!!

The Carefresh bedding is not good for any pet. I lost both my G pigs because the dust that comes off of it clogs up there lungs.

But I took mine to the vet and he says that pine bedding is bad for their skin and can cause skin infections because they're so sensitive. I use aspen and give them Timothy hay to nest with. The vet said that's supposed to be good for their digestion if they chew on it or something, too?

You should probably get aspen and NOT cedar or fir because contain oils that are toxic to hedgehogs.

Yes, when I had a hedgehog I instead made a bedding with corduroy and flannel. It's much healthier for them. There's also a special bedding called Mountain Cat, which is a high end cat litter that is dust-free, and is great for their litter box.

I got him from a breeder (and I would recommend getting a hedgie from a breeder NOT a petstore...petstores, especially Critter Cabana, get them from mills and don't properly care for the little guys).

Just show your parents that you're resposible.

Take care of your other pets (if you have any), do your homework, keep your room clean, do your chores, etc. Point out how responsible you have been to your folks and perhaps if you have a friend with a hedgehog, similar pet or alot of animals have them vouch for you. Sometimes parents think that kids cant handle too much responsibility.
