I thought I commented on this song before but "what the hellman's" I'll do it AGAIN! interesting how throughout rock music you hear singers pronouncing the lyrics w/Southern accent. When Elton sang this, it didnt effect me the way Hicks has. It's those Sweet Southern Sensibilities that come thru everytime he sings.

Elton John would be ashamed. Not only does he not get what the song's about, he doesn't even get the words right.
I love looking back at his Idol performances -- he's the best thing ever to come out of that show. Have followed him ever since and he continues to grow and change for the better but he still stays the same sweet guy he was back then. Love ya Taylor!
What I liked about Hicks above all others was his ability to lose himself in the song -- in every song, he let the emotion jerk him abruptly in a certain way, which gave the performance more punch. We looked for the spot when he'd lose it. Like when Al Pacino gets mad in a movie, there's a time when his gestures go wild. He lives the moment. Great performing. As far as not being as good as Elton: he's only got a day or so to throw together a performance of a new song and do it live.
Taylor is still one of the most original down to earth talents that came out of IDOL. He may not be mainstream but he is a success and true to himself.

Since reinventing himself, he has fine tuned his skills and shares his love of music with us. He plans more exciting things after he finishes his Grease tour in June 2010. Good performance. If you want to see a great rendition of Levon check out Canadian Idol's Billy Klippert. His performance was so good he recorded it as the first single from his debut album.

I still think Taylor was quite the talent and still is......the problem is that the timing was not right for his kind of music to be marketable plus AI did very little to promote him. He certainly keeps ones attention while on stage, though.

I remember the first time I saw this on the show and I thought wow, now AI has something special. All you have to do is look at the audience, the other contestants, and the judges to see Taylor had it!!!!
Taylor's performance with "Levon" firmly demonstrates the quality appeal of him as an artist..projects his ability to take on a song and incorporate in his own original style..shows off his relaxed and free-lose manner with moving about/dancing on the stage..and (most importantly) his supreme joy and excitment with just being able to live the dream of performing music live. I think all of the judges make useful valid comments. A cover, ultimately, is about a personal tribute (not a replication).

WOW thang goodness for you tube i remember this season i didnt miss one episode from start to finish by far one of the best seassons but with saying the i forgot how much i loved to look foward to tayler's performances i loved everyone of them and i do hope that what we have gotten so far will not be it from him!!!

I still think Taylor was quite the talent and still is......the problem is that the timing was not right for his kind of music to be marketable plus AI did very little to promote him. He certainly keeps ones attention while on stage, though.

taylor hicks was good but i think there was no way he would sell to a mainstream audience. As you the finalist under him (katherine mcphee, chris daughtry, and elliot yamin) all went on to have hit songs....taylor didn't. yes, he's entertaining but just not marketable

taylor is one of three singers on the seven AI seasons that I feel were really true individuals and true to their individual styles, he and david cook won with their individualism and blake lewis came close

just a great performance. Great voice.
simon knew, still knows , he is good. Maybe not the cooky cutter stuff that sells in the billions but real quality.

I remember the first time I saw this on the show and I thought wow, now AI has something special. All you have to do is look at the audience, the other contestants, and the judges to see Taylor had it!!!!

Taylor's performance with "Levon" firmly demonstrates the quality appeal of him as an artist..projects his ability to take on a song and incorporate in his own original style..shows off his relaxed and free-lose manner with moving about/dancing on the stage..and (most importantly) his supreme joy and excitment with just being able to live the dream of performing music live. I think all of the judges make useful valid comments. A cover, ultimately, is about a personal tribute (not a replication).
