  • wow .. this is so cool. I was thinking of doing something similar with We Are What You Say. It's where Sufjan shows his views on church matter (ecclesiology) and on Holy Spirit. however I wasn't aware of all those disguised biblical references in ''concerning the UFO'', it's very interesting.

  • i also think "history involved itself" is just a way of saying "god intervened"

also, moses and elijah were not "incarnated". they are not two of the three stars. the three stars appeared at the first incarnation, at his birth.

but i like how you think the three stars could refer to the trinity.

but again, "revenant" is about jesus' return, not his end. it's about the return of jesus, and how we wouldn't understand it at first

  • and of course we wouldn't be able to imagine what it was, just as no one recognized jesus when he first came back after three days

  • i think "concerning the UFO" is simply about when jesus comes back. also, the three stars refers to the star of bethlehem, which astronomers are pretty sure was actually the alignment of three planets (which occurred around the year of his birth, and would have shown as three bright stars becoming one very bright star). so the "three stars" is signaling his "revenend" (from the latin "to come back"). it's very clever how sufjan combines the actual sighting with christ's return.
