  • Love the photo's are some of them yours or are they collected from other sources. If they are yours - I am impressed at the black and whites - my kind of pics I take in photography. The song is in my LP collection and had just started singing it the other day - love it love love it and yes more like this should be made - simplicity at its finest.....

  • I know this because of my parents

  • Just another big "Oh yeah, I almost forgot about this great tune!!!" from me ;o)

  • Absolutely beautiful, timeless song. Much love for posting aboukir :-)

  • Beautiful , just beautiful X

  • THANK YOU for this song/video!!! I have been looking for it for years!!! I saw them perform this once on mtv ( way back when..), and never forgot it!!

    THANX!

  • I had this on a vinyl years ago, and the name came into my head today, and here it is on youtube. Gotta love the googleinteryoutubewebbook...

  • You are very much not the only one to know this song aboukair, it is a favourite with a lot of us... I've known it since shortly after it came out, I'm into a lot of kinds of music but every now and then I'll return to this and soak up its quiet, contemplative beauty.

  • I so Love this song, can't wait to learn it on Guitar :) x

  • @meganfry1910 This is a nice song to learn. The chords are wonderful. Let me know if you attempt it I have all the correct tabs for this piece.

  • @unfailingpromise I have learnt the singing but im waiting to get my guitar for my birthday which is next wednesday :)

  • @meganfry1910 Ah cool. If you haven't played before or you have and are waiting to practice when you get your new guitar this is a good song to learn. It's fun to play, the chords aren't that difficult and it's quite easy to create the sound and feeling of the song. There are 4 different variations of A major, but no actual A major. Interesting song. I'll get those chords down for you.

  • @unfailingpromiseOk Thanks a lot :) x

  • so fragile & gothic.... this n road to your soul are beautiul from scarlet and other stories... she should't be compared to amy lee though... totally different artists & styles, this music isn't commercial, but has a lot of english folk sounds blended into it and more delicate & natural sounding music.

  • Sooooo love this, thanks for sharing :)

  • This is such a hauntingly beautiful song... very gothic. The soothing sensation lapped me up like the sea, almost sending me to sleep. Everyone who wants to hear a truly inspirational and thought-provoking song should tune in...

  • We had a band in the late 80's and used to cover this and Every Angel. Very happy times :) Nicely put together vid by the way.

  • Hi Julianne,

just to let you know I love your music, 20 odd years since i first heard you and I am still in love. Even now when i am going through the toughest time of my life I still find time to listen to your music. Thank you.

  • A Very great song....Amazing.

  • This haunting and beautiful record still gets plenty of 'airplay' in my house, even if it's only through the computer! I still have the '45 on vinyl from1988,but no means to play it the old fashioned way! Thank you to Ms Regan and Mr Cousin for this and all the other beautiful music you made together. Pax to all from 'SoulBoy'Smith.Xxx.

  • It's harbour NOT harbor..stupid Yanks!

  • @SirBounder Hon, all commentary on language by nature should be descriptive, not prescriptive. Language and spelling are fluid and changeable, as you'll know if you've ever tried to read Chaucer or Marlowe.

  • Love this song!!!!

  • Beautiful music. Gives me goose bumps !

  • Love this song so much. There was a time when I played this and their albums EVERY day. Thank you for uploading your vid aboukair, it's beautiful! :D x

  • Lovely song. My other half took me to one side during practice and explained to me about waves and beaches and slow moving boats etc..............Seems I was getting a wee bit frenetic with my playing and singing..........................(blush). Lovely voice Julianne has though:)

  • @aboukair this one of the beautiful songs ever written.

They way "All about eve" preforms this song is very unique.

The way she sings it is very loose and magnetizing.

    Thank for uploading it!

  • Beautiful video Thanks : )

  • Oh this is such an addictive track, was this the band on TOTP who stood there waiting to go on while the track was actually playing, how embarrassing, she has such a beautifull voice and a lovely song..Just one thing, who's Martha

  • This is a song I learnt when I was tiny, still sing it around the campfire, planning on it this weekend, will never stop loving this song!

  • Why has it got emo visuals? Please don't do this!

  • @MsBettymachete

All about eve were kinda hippy goth. Long before the term EMO ever existed.

  • @adeworks Yes I know that but I'm guessing this video clip wasn't. The only video I have ever seen is of them live.

  • Absolutely beautiful song and aboukair you have gift for putting these visuals together. Sheer genius. Juliane please come back and sing for us your voice is so desperately missed

  • Lovely song.

  • Thanks I have been looking for this track for a long time,:o)

  • Very nice photo-montage. I especially enjoyed seeing places I knew from my childhood: the stone pier and lighthouse shown with the breaking wave @ 1:56, and the same pier (the north pier at the mouth of the river Tyne) and lighthouse seen from the Tynemouth Long Sands @ 2:09. Wonderful!

The musical accompaniment is also simply gorgeous. :-)

  • Beautiful. Great use of images too.

  • It's all clear when you're on a glass bottom boat.

  • I loved All about eve especially about the time the Mission were succesful. I remember going to see Simple Minds at Roundhay Park in Leeds and was blown away that one of my favourite bands was supporting them. Was this in 1989?

Great song - beautiful voice and guitar.

  • Aboukair, you'd be surprised how many people around the world share the same preferences, ideas and ideals... That's one of the things i truly admire in You Tube and similars.. It actually brings people together! In this particular case... All About Eve is one of my all time favourite groups and Julianne has an absolutely outstanding voice... When it comes down to being gifted, God was certainly inspired that day.. Thanks for sharing!

  • No matter how much I've mastered this tune on a twelve string, no voice could sing as beautiful as this original recording...poetry at it's most awsome.

  • My mum played All About Eve all through my childhood, thank you mum! (':

  • I remember bying the album when it came out. Can't remember the year tho.lol.

    Must be old age.

  • If I could only listen to half-a-dozen songs for the rest of my life, THIS would be one of them. Julianne has a staggeringly beautiful voice, matched by few, surpassed by none. A lovely video Aboukair, thanks for the effort!

  • great song and brings back some good memories .well done and thanks

  • I really liked, did not know... sorry not to have known before, I´m in love... ´m grunge, listen nirvana, pearl jam, alice in chains and I quote is a favorite too... perfect !!!

  • An absolute travesty that this band had to demean themselves to play Worcester Marrs Bar the last time I saw them. Lov Nic

  • I love this song and i'm so glad I found it. It was one of my nanna's favourites but she didn't know who sang it... she used to think it was Enya and I've since found out it wasn't.but I love this song as my nan did as a song about my grandad who was a merchant navy seaman and although they have both passed I can imagine her singing it about him. God bless Lee and Iris Wright. My beloved!

  • Quite simply.. one of the most beautiful songs ever written!

  • beautiful song, I was told that the intro to my featured original song reminded someone of this. This is a great song :D

  • Reminds me of Cornwall.....

  • this song is hauntingly beautiful and Julianne has an amazing voice

  • ...no i love this song too..........

  • Me encanta este grupo, lástima que en Argentina nunca fueron muy conocidos. Me costó años tratar de conseguir un cd .

  • OMG that is an awesome rendition...

  • I was working in Cheltenham when i first heard this played on the Radio ..I downed tools and Headed off to the nearest Record Store (they still sold vinyl) "Priorities!" you know yourself ! Its still as fresh . A true classic .. When i found out they were playing reading rock 87 I downed tools again and returned to the Record store to buy a ticket !! "Memories" Thanks !!

  • proud to admit that I lost my virginity to this song! In 1988 :)

  • Beautiful. This is one my favourite songs, I love your images. Is the one from 1:31 of Forks, Washington?

  • I have such fond memories of listening to this. I went to see them in the late eighties, several times, at Hammersmith Odeon and The Astoria (both in London)..

    Thanks for sharing!

  • I've always loved this song.

  • I found this CD years ago and had never heard of All About Eve before that. I find this one of the most haunting songs (combo of the lyrics and her voice) I have ever heard. Do you know the song Raggle Taggle Gypsies? It is also happy/sad like that. All About Eve's "To Be Like Emily" is also wonderful. Your photo montage is lovely. Thank you.

  • One of my all time favourite songs!

  • Her voice is so true and the lyrics definitely hit a chord. I took my girlfriend , now wife to see them as a surprise in Kentish Town years ago, it was a lovely day, but Windsor Castle caught fire.
