I lost my job 8 weeks ago in texas. I applied for unemployment benefits. So far my application is still pending status. Normally the wait time is 3 weeks. I hear stories people are going up to 4 months waiting for checks that never arrive in my state. Call texas workforce commission and they tell you they are flooded with calls since they are understaffed. Goverment makes excuses they are having computer issues. Personally I think they ran out of money.

As it is now, you can pass off "depression" and "back pain" as a disability (just one visit to the doctors qualifies) and you get £150/week; that adds up to £8 BILLION a year on the welfare state, and 3 million people unemployed (not inc. the retired). That's just under 10% of our capable workforce.
