In the last episode of Don Murray: "Critical Condition", Sid tells his family how much he loves them, and after they leave he makes a private tape recording for Karen. In the operating room, something goes horribly wrong. The doctor finally comes out, and Karen can see by his face that Sid has died. Everyone is crying and in shock. Later, Karen listens to the tape Sid made for her, telling her how much he loves her.
NOTE: Don Murray finally leaves the show in this episode.
It is missing Sid's oldest daughter Annie Fairgate (Karen Allen) from season one and Sid and Abbie's nephew Paul Fairgate Jr. (Kale Brown) from season 2. Ironically, Allen and Brown were later married but never appeared together on screen on KL.
Not to be a beeatch, but your example of irony is being misused. The fact that Allen and Brown were later married in real life is not an example of irony, it is an example of coincidence, but not irony.
Actually, Abby's kids are cousins to the Fairgate kids. Their last name is Cunningham (Abby's first husband's last name). They are not technically Fairgates.

I didn't see Abby's kids in this and they're Fairgates too. Nor did I se Sid's daughter who was played by Karen Allen.
But thanks for posting this.
It was excellent and interesting to see the clothing styles of the end of the 1970s which would change drastically within a few years in the 1980s.
