Those moo-cows are udderly huge! The first tree house made me think of a palace for Dago, and I expected Heidi to come skipping out of that Swiss countryside :)

The only place I have seen earthen roofs like that are on displays or possibly tourist attractions. There are earth homes of various types though where the home is built into a hillside or most of it is below ground.

That cow didn't like it when you said about the indecent picture. I think that she took offense to that. LOL I think Mrs. DC is camera shy and I think she then became embarrassed after she almost went down. Tell her we enjoyed seeing her if for just a brief moment. I used to be like her. The only reason now I get on camera is because of my husband encouragement. I use to not let anybody take a picture of me until my husband told me I was depriving people of memories. Hi Mrs. DC.

Those bells would drive me nuts. We have quite a few cows around here and I have yet to see one with a bell.

No living roofs here yet. I've seen them on TV though.

never saw a cow with a bell before Europe... these weren't typical though since they usually have horns here...take care !

Those poor lady cows... they need milked! Just a lovely place DC. Yes I've seen pictures of homes here where they surround the home on 3 sides with soil and then grow things on top. But I believe it is few and far between and not common at all. . I'd say mostly out west! Hugs!

cow bells, church bells are really part of swiss fabric and it would seem strange not to have them... but ... I certainly would not want one of those bell around my neck, lol ! take care !!!

been a long time since i went to Switzerland i was just over the Italian boarder staying with family North of Milano in fact the last time was '93/4 and we popped over for medication

I think in most places in the world soil roof insolation is exclusive, but with so many traditions it does not get the chance it needs

I have seen that kind of roof here, in the states, out west in Oregon were my daughters live. They tend to be more into the enviroment there.

Still nice and green ... I wish it would be the same here. At least it is still not white here.

In my town I've seen one house with such kind of roof ... it is a Walldorf Kindergarten.

In the "deep " countryside here there often is nothing else but the farms so they don't really watch out for the cars...
