You are right! The guitar of Barry is actually a Dan Armstrong. But at that show at least the instruments were playback. As that song was recorded in studio, the instrument playing lead was actually most likely an electric sitaar. In later times a band called Kelly Family had used also an electric sitaar for the solo of a song called "Fell in love with an alien".

@musicfreak1967 zu dieser zeit war ich in den sommer ferien in sluipwijk in holland.diesen song haben wir mit ein paar holländischen jungs immer wieder in der musicbox angewählt. jaja 1972...

@benzliesel damals wurde noch richtig Rockmucke gemacht. Was die Zusammenstellungen bei Ilja Richters Disco anging, die war schon sehr skurril - da durften Deep Purple schon mal direkt nach Heino auftreten. Ich war als 67er Jahrgang damals noch quasi Sandkastenrocker, doch die Mucke war schon sehr geil. Im übrigen sind Golden Earring ja noch heute sehr aktiv - okay, die Mähnen von damals sind nicht mehr vorhanden, doch sie zeigen den "Frischlingen" der heutigen Musikszene, wie gerockt wird.

JA en een beetje nee. In de tijd waar jij het over hebt was Frans Krassenburg nog zanger. In '67 (echt een heilig jaar, wat betreft muziek) zijn ze een andere richting op gegaan (en toen kwam Barry d'r bij).

In principe wel dezelfde band dus. Maar met een andere bezetting (en andere naam trouwens; (de) Golden Earrings). Nu ik erover nadenk, misschien moeten we het toch als andere band beschouwen... net als Jefferson Airplane / Jefferson Starship, duidelijk twee verschillende bands

Het mag allemaal weer hoor....Of hebben ze enkel met de ruigere aanpak nog succes? Neem bvb. Ding Ding Dikky Dong (1968)...OK niet de hoogste vlieger, maar dit kan nu gewoon weer allemaal hoor! Wenn ich diesen tollen Song von den Golden Earring und dazu noch die Aufzeichnung aus "Disco '72" mit Ilja Richter so ansehe, kommt in mir wirklich Wehmut nach den guten, alten Zeiten hoch. Ich war damals Kiddie und verpasste wirklich keine Folge. Sowas wird es leider nie mehr wieder geben.

Vor einigen Monaten lief übrigens im "Rockpalast" eine Aufzeichnung von einem Golden-Earring-Gig vom letzten Jahr. Toll, dass die Band noch heute die alten Songs live bringt!

Dutch people are very lucky and should be very proud having such good bands like Golden Earring, Focus, Livin' Blues, Earth & Fire and even some of Shocking Blue. Here in France, most famous rock bands were shit. I love this song, guitar playing and the drummer is really great. I don't understand why only "Radar Love" made the UK charts, they deserved more attention.

I have seen Golden Earring live quite a few times in the past, growing up in Holland .They are still going strong and George is a fantastic guitarist.Caesar is brilliant and Rinus (who looks like a cross between Mick Jagger and Keith Riohards) is great too. And of course not to forget Barry.

They were on tour recently in Holland and I wished I had seen them but unfortunately I live abroad.

Come to the UK please.
