  • hace años q no la veo, bajare esta y black hawk down

  • I think this movie needs more good actors.

  • this and saving private ryan are the two best war movies

  • this aint got nothin on apocalypse now

  • i wonder if "this is war" by 30stm was influenced by the movie.

  • Isn't this the movie where the guy had a knife carved from human femur bone? I'm pretty sure it is.

  • i'm yet to see this movie but it has masterpiece written all over it.

  • @projectmayhem94 It is a really good movie. It's more accurate when it comes to the drugs the U.S. soldiers did there to escape the reality of the situation they were in.

  • @projectmayhem94 It's the best WWII movie i've ever seen in my opinion. Try reading the novel, it's even more amazing.

  • Thin long dick.

  • @checkpot991 No.. just no..

  • Thin long dick.

  • Netflix!

  • The main reason I did not like it is because the trailer is very misleading and the cast was really nice, However you hardly get to know any of he characters in the film and some of the cast are only in the film for two minutes. Terrance Malick is a talented film maker but he is very egotistical and vain. My father met him one time on Days of Heaven because he was working as an assistant producation designer and told me he is very controling and pompous.

  • The first movie what made me cry after 6 years....

Maybe the best in the game :)

  • when I first saw this movie I thought it was crap. But watching it again made me realize it has everything a good war movie should. Action and softness. And didnt know there were natives on Guadalcanal

  • A lot of good actors,

  • Everyone says how evil the Japanese were. It was their generals and admirals and power hungry leaders. Emperor Hirohito was originally forced by his generals to attack pearl harbour and was being influenced and used the whole time. As for the soldiers, it just so happens that they were loyal and patriotic and devoted to their country. They would go to even the most brutal ways of stopping the enemy, generally ending their own life at the same time. As of course with all countries they had bad,

  • Fucking brilliant movie. Terrence mallick is a goddamn genius. Best war movie ever made if y' ask me

  • hmm, once again showing that a Terrence Malick film is best watched while on mute.

  • actually band of brothers is probably the best cast movie ever.

  • @anUHkins except it wasn't a movie

  • @dooovde alright then, best "cast". it feels just like a movie does if you watch the whole set at once. smartass.

  • Best cast movie ever has to be Rear Window

  • the worst in war,is not that destroy flesh and bones of soldiers,no......the worst in war is that destroy their souls......

  • @lordofdeathknight the pacific

  • @collinsx62 and you've won a free ticket of entrance for the ultimate movie called: "5+5+5 =550"

  • @lordofdeathknight i know i know im a genius

  • @collinsx62 a genius? really? then answer this question: how to obtain "550" with this "5+5+5"...................if you found "how".....then your a real genius...otherwise,you are just one guy among many.......

  • @lordofdeathknight only thing i can think of is including a 4 and making it 545+5= 550?

  • @collinsx62 ....close...but no!!! keep up genius.....and maybe you'll become "master of matter" (someone who understand the very nature of any matter, and so can manipulate it like an artist do with clay, like a baker do with dough's bread)

  • great movie

  • I thought it a good movie but, like "Band of Brothers," the actors were too old. Sean Penn and Woody Harrelson were pushing forty when this was made. Most of those young Americans on Guadalcanal were anywhere from seventeen to twenty three, thereabouts. I thought that detracted from the film, old faces where younger faces were needed.

  • @ OW41N "The Thin Red Line has become an English figure of speech for any thinly spread military unit holding firm against attack." Wiki much?

  • Jesus even the trailer is long

  • ok so the thine red line is american? for fuck sake, im fed up of american bullshit, it was the 93rd who earned the title of the thin red line at the crimea and the british army as they would deploy 2 ranks deep which was extremely thin for the time

  • @OW41N

It is an adaption of an American novel, which had a tendency to focus on the loneliness, and emotions surrounding soldiers during war. The author served in an american division, so I am sure he had some personal experiences to draw on, "Thin Red Line" as stated before me, has become a figure of speech as people have said before me.

  • @OW41N shame, because on hearing the thin red line you think off the British, (the crimean war, battle of balaclava in 1854, where the term originates)

sometimes it seams in Hollywood no one else did the key events in any war other than America.

There even was a spoof with Christian Slater "Churchill the Hollywood years" poking fun at the fact after the historically ridiculed u-571 the real war successes were british & didn't relate to u-571 which sank of the coast of ireland in1944

  • @OW41N you are totally missing the point.

  • The Thin Red Line is the most boring movie I have ever seen. No plot, no characters, no character development. Everyone just walks around playing war with a stupid grin on their faces. No realism, sucky special effects. Probably the worst use of big name actors in history. Most overrated piece of crap ever!

  • @warpunk1 I know. American and Australian forces fought side by side at New Guinea

  • without even having to see the movie, i already know Jared Leto is gonna die or get seriously injured. Typical, typical Jared Leto :D

  • Jared Leto!!!!

  • A beautiful mess of a movie. We know war is hell but some things are worth dying for.

  • The real "Thin red line" was during the crimean war, i do not see why they used that title for the movie... If anyone can tell me i would appreciate it I am not as good on U.S. history as British

  • @DrinkToIreland its called the thin red line because theres an old saying that theres only a thin red line betweeen the sane and the mad

  • @poopedon3 ah ok thanks mate :)

  • talk about an all star cast

  • Why are Lawyer Soldiers ridiculed like in this movie asks Ernest H. Dervishian?

  • great movie, greatly overlooked.

  • One of the best movies (and books!!!) of all time.

  • @harveyosullivan O thanks for the information! now I get it :)

  • It's casey jones!

  • why the hack is george clooney named in the trailer?? he is in the movie for less than one minute!

  • @vrbrno because his part was a lot bigger but it was largely cut out of the movie (hello Viggo Mortenson who was in this movie, and Adrian Brody). the original cut was something like 6-7 hours. the reason why he still gets top billing even though he wasn't in it much is that it would have been in his contract.

  • This is possibly the best cast in a war movie ever.

  • I've had this movie for over 8 years, and I finally watched it. I was blown away. I think the Thin Red Line is better than Saving Private Ryan, but then again, I'm more a philosophical person. The most underrated war movie of all time because it's more than just another typical war story. Pity I waited so long to finally watch it.

  • @TheFederalistVoice

Thin Red Line is a good Film not better then Saving Private Ryan Or even Enemy at the Gates but good .I read alot of WWII veterans commneted when they got done watching Thine Red Line that it was done by someone who has never fired a gun in their lives.

  • @TheFederalistVoice It's definitely better than Saving Private Ryan.

  • Why call it the thin red line? Yet again america has put its arogant signature on British heritage.

  • @warpunk1 Too bad we saved your ass in WW1 and WW2. Dont hate us cuz we're better than you:) USA ALL THE WAY!!

  • @Killerdoctor27 wow really? Well that certainly backs up my point about arogance. Have a read of any history book writen by someone from any country other than america and say that again I fucking dare you. Even a German book will do because even they are man enough to tell history like it is. Look at the full picture from every angle before making an assumption based on your misguided sense of pride. Lucky for me I have got around enough to know that not all americans are as ignorant as you.

  • @warpunk1 Thats why I said it to act like an "arogant" American. Let me ask you something during WW2 the Luftwaffe didn't bomb the shit of Great Britain and the V2 rocket didnt terrorize every British city?? You would have been screwed if the USA had not been shipping you supplies. You were cut off and the U-boats controlled the waters off England. Without us you would have run out of supplies. We are a much stronger country than Great Britain so get over it.

  • @Killerdoctor27 I know that the U-boats had a considerable presence in the channel but that is all there was. Germany couldnt afford to send ships in because Britain still had air superiority. And at what point did I say that The British people were not living in fear of getting bombed? everyone in Europe was vulnerable not just us. Also I never said that we were not grateful for your support so dont pull that one on me.

  • Comment removed

  • @Killerdoctor27 Also. It is common knowledge that america has a powerfull military but I would put quality of training before numbers any day. I have a lot of respect for americans who were arround up until the late fifties because they were (are) the ones who seemed to know what really mattered in the world. Everone after that seemed to be far too full of themselves and "arogant" to deserve any real respect and that is the category I would be inclined to put you into.

  • Comment removed

  • @Killerdoctor27 "If they had not invaded Russia." I agree that if this were the case then Britain probably would have lost fair enough but the fact remains that it did. Germany spread itself too thinly to the point where we simply had more resourses than them to spare, only slightly more but Germany still would have run out of steam before we did with or with out your money and troops.

  • @Killerdoctor27 Dont get me wrong, everyone in Europe apreciates your contributions during the war but you have to remember that it had been raging for a couple of years already and most of the damage had already been done by the time you came along which is why the French, British and sometimes the Germans get so defensive when americans come along and say that they did all the work. You have to look at every detail before making a statement.

  • @warpunk1 PS - My grandpa lost a leg to keep your ass free so dont act like we did nothing in the war. If the US had joined with Germany instead of Great Britain you would be speaking German to me right now.

  • @warpunk1 Ok first off London was bombed for like 70 nights straight... Yeah the British were in fear! They also had to deal with the new V2. Its a fact that you would have lost to Germany if the US had not saved your ass. Dont forget about the Jap sneak attack at Pearl Harbor. The US was fighting 2 fronts and still was kicking ass. Midway one of the great decisive battles in history, D-Day where 135,000 US troops died, and the Battle of the Bulge where 89,500 US troops died just to name a few.

  • @Killerdoctor27 1: I never said that the British were not in fear, who wouldnt be in that situation? 2: Can you prove this fact? as I keep saying, look at the written details not the films and say that again. 3: Who has forgotten about perl harbour? I haven't. 4: Do NOT tell me that you were the only people who took part in D-Day. The British, the French and the Belgians were there too and the three of us took a huge number of casualties too. You may have forgotten but the three of us will not.

  • @warpunk1 Yeah on D-Day there was also Canadians but more Americans died. If you add up the death toll the US lost more lives than all of the Allies combined in the Normandy invasion. You act like I think the US had no help?? There were many countries helping the Allies but the US played a MAJOR role in the war. The US did its part in WW2 you need to show some respect and dont undermine our sacrifices.

  • @Killerdoctor27 I am not undermining your country's cacrifices at all if you pay any atention to what I have said you will see that. I have a vast amount of respect for every country who took part and I try to give them all where it is due. What really anoys me is when "other people" take far too much of the credit for themselves. If you look at my original post on the tital of the film you will see that. Films like "The Few" and "U-571" Are the ones that piss people off.

  • Respond to this video... 5: Britain and Australia were fighting in north Africa and yet the Australians also gave you lots of help fighting the Japanese. Did you forget them too? Did you also know they helped you out in Vietnam too?

  • Because I have you, nothing can touch me. No hurt, no grief, not even death ...

    brillant

  • Lets just enjoy in movie.

  • When i read comments like this movie is not like other war movies i love it.Beacuse its not like other war movie, this is anti war.Pure anti war movie

  • This is why i love movies-Thin Red Line

  • this movie makes saving private ryan look like a childrens movie

  • Japanese were as evil as Nazis.

They abducted 200,000 Asisans (also Caucasians), raped them up to 50 times a day & buried them alive to save bullets.

Japanese govt won't apologize to any of surviving sex slaves.

In 2007, Japanese govt org bought 1 pg. of Wall Street Journal & filled it with OUTRAGEOUS LIES: 1) the females were whores who volunteered to service Japanese soldiers. 2) Japanese govt paid them more than Japanese army generals.

  • Movie that always make me happy its poet and movie in same time

  • świetny film

  • @theotherguyz21 tru dat

  • I watch this movie every week and just cant stop.

  • @chakotayist same as

  • whats the song at the end?

  • You know a movie is bad when you fall asleep 5minutes into. This was a fucking terrible movie, I had high hope, but come on! They sit on a fucking hill! One of the worst ww2 movies I have ever seen.

  • By far the best film I have ever seen. It baffles me that people could criticize this intricate metaphysical look at war, nature and humanity. The cinematography is so superb that each frame of the film stands on its own. The voice overs offer majestic reflections on the nature of war through poetic beauty and humanity. The intensity of this film is unsurpassed. This is life in a movie, you need to get attached to it

  • @KimInLosAngeles i love how some idiot marked your post as "spam"

  • Thin red line is awsom beacuse its freinship and love,is that what we all need.here is no heros just soliders that wanna go home and forget the pain of war.Terrence Malick do a very good job, cast is very good. This is my favorit movie and allways will be.

  • @chakotayist this movie blows big time.

They just tried to cash in on "Saving Private Ryan" at the time.

  • @trikkerman1 Actually, Terry Malick started writing the first drafts of this film in early 1989, and its rough-draft script finished by mid-89. The basis for the movie "Saving Private Ryan" was thought up 5 years later in mid 1994, when screenwriter Robert Rodat saw a war memorial with the names of eight siblings who died in the Civil War. He didn't even have the script written until about a year or two later. By that time, Malick had already sent the script for "The Thin Red Line" to the actors

  • @dtredster1920 the movie still sucked.

  • @trikkerman1 Have you watch this movie?Book from James Jones is awsom just like the movie. This is remake but much better than original.Saving prive ryan is oscar winner beacuse its what America like why they gonna give oscar to movie where is soliders who dont want the war and whole movie is just anti war.Saving privat Ryan is patriotism.

  • @chakotayist Go back to grammar school..

  • @lipen99 YOUR COMMENT IS FUCKING SHIT. Enough grammar for you

  • @chakotayist lol great grammer right there

  • @chakotayist

Don't be silly. There is completely a hero to this movie. Use grammar.

  • @chakotayist it shows GREAT emotion. exactly what goes through a warriors mind. the beauty, horror, and art work of war.

  • 7 Academy nominations, 0 wins. In my opinion, this movie is way better than Saving Private Ryan. I only saw it twice but I've seen Private Ryan at least 5 times

  • Not all movies are for entertainment pourposes, Some are just Simply Art. i think the reason many find this so "boring", is Because they lack intrest in Philosophy and the Finer things in life. And there is nothing wrong with that, However it is wrong to post comments indicating that it is a horrible film.

  • Full of homosexuality.

  • @coopasan9 lol clearly you must know what that looks like!

  • Im interested but i hear its boring would anyone suggest it?

  • @MrGabe305

not boring: beautiful. almost amasing that a war movie can be beautiful.

  • It surprises me that this isn't any ordinary war film, it is considered anti-war, giving the fact that it doesn't glorify war.

  • The Thin red line is the most epic war-movie ever. Classic Masterpiece material in every second.

  • Comment removed

  • I cannot believe i've had this movie for years but reluctantly never watched it. As far as WW II movies go, you can keep your Saving Private Ryan, I'm with Thin Red Line.

  • for some reason when i watch this movie i fell closer to god...

  • Terrance Malick is a very inspiring filmmaker! His influence can be seen in my most recent project, a no-budget "art"/horror short film. the trailer for which can be found on my channel.

  • when it came out i thought it was just another bog standard war movie, then some years later i saw it.... wow

  • Because I have you nothing can touch me, no hurt, no grief, not even death.

Damn i love this film! Everyone thing that this is a war move didn't get it.

  • "how many men do you think it's worth?"

I think it's worth not a single one...

  • @kepochi1 totaly agree

  • i guess seeing someone die is totally different from someone dying in ur arms. Well who am I to judge Ive never been in that situation

  • I just love this movie. It has touched me so much.

  • This cast is as good as the Saving Private Ryan cast!!!

  • @stickshifttttt better

  • @stickshifttttt And the movie is much, much better!!!

  • @stickshifttttt Tom Hanks and Matt damon alone are alot better than this whole cast alone! MUAHAHHAHAHA. Still both are very good movies.

  • @stickshifttttt Better. Much! much better..

  • "It make no difference who you are, no matter how much training you got, how tough a guy you might be, your in the wrong spot at the wrong time, your gonna get it"

probably one of the most truthful quotes I've ever heard, it doesn't matter what nationality you are, what training you have, the reasons you have, or your riches or personality, in war no one is safe.

"War doesn't determine who is right...only who is left" Bertrand Russell

  • @cxcarmic somewhat of a plot

  • @cxcarmic Plot wise, yes Saving Private Ryan has a better "story", but I think that's a horrible criteria to judge films on. SPR was all razzle dazzle America is the best, fuck yeah sentimental semi happy ending shit and that's why I didn't like it. While some people, yourself included may feel differently, that's ok. This movie on the other hand was a transcendent experience which fully delved into the characters and who they were, and I think that's what make it great. btw it did have somewh

  • whats the soundtrack of this song from 1:32 till 2:03? Is it Calm ?

  • @Weintraubeheld221

    /watch?v=BdrF7I87fd4

  • George Clooney is awsome!!!!!

  • @magicapricot. I thought it was ok. By no means a bad movie, but compared to this I don't get the hype

  • "The Thin Red Line": a movie theme for a song

  • Its interesting trying to identify the Heideggerian philosophy infused in the movie.

  • I personally like saving private ryan better than this movie but this movie is a close second

  • @FilipinoPride011 personally ur gay

  • When I was younger, I saw this movie and didn't like it. Then I got older. I went to war. I came back. Now I realize it wasn't that I didn't like it - it was that I couldn't appreciate it yet.

  • @gogoandywolf When I was younger, I accepted Jesus into my heart and once he's in your heart he never goes away!

  • @gogoandywolf same here, I used to think war was good vs bad, and the "good" guys always won, I went and realized there is no such thing as good vs bad, and if there was then I wouldnt be on the "winning" side

  • @0Xeethra0 Honestly, If you asked me what I was fighting for, it wasn't "Freedom" or "America". It was my brothers on my left and right. Men I will love for the rest of my life, more than my own blood. These are they only ones who cared, and they have been there when the rest of the nation kept exercising their freedoms to keep on not giving a fuck.

  • @gogoandywolf

truer word ain't ne'er been said.

  • All war is hell where ever it is, in the cold, in the hot on land, sea, air desert or jungle it's all basically the same, people will get hurt or killed and it's all because we have to follow orders from our president and the officers appointed ov
