Once you stop segregating people based on identities that are obtained at birth (and never leave until you die) and provide opportunities of education, it gets addressed.
Situation has changed as u said handful like Meira kumar have come to a state where they can support & represent people of whose rights have been denied & take part in nation-building activities.
Reservation implemented abt 60 years ago , it took much time to reach to people becoze of oppose at every step by those who were/are against of it, is quiet less time 2 overcome atmosphere remained for thousands of years & as of now , (backlog vacancies still not get eligible candidates.)
Objective of reservation is to provide them opportunities and power against discrimination & whole problem is related to birth only which separates them from others they segregated from Indian society much before start of reservation.

Reservation of Affirmative action should only be on those identities which can go as you "progress". Financial criteria is one. "Creamy layer" is another one where you can still give reservation based on caste/birth but such things go off.

It is a problem for many if a Dalit occupies a high position.What has any leader done for 60 years why single her. Because she achieved something you want to pull her down. What did Ambedkar achieve? Did he transform the caste system. He even lost his deposit in elections. That way no one has achieved anything. Face it Dalits are rising.

And, just becoz I spoke against a 'dalit', u assumed me to be a 'high-caste'. ur assumption is wrong. I don't understand in what angle is she a 'dalit' ?? she's born in a well-off family --- never faced any discrimination herself -- from what angle, is she even a dalit ? and what did she 'achieve' that I want to pull her down ?

Rajkiran if it takes 60 years for a Dalit to occupy the post of a speaker from a creamy layer as you say, imagine how long it will take normal citizens. Instead of appreciating and celebreating a landmark achievement for dalits, some high caste perpetrators of discrimination like to dimiss such achievements of dalits and run them down by using creamy layer argument to divide dalits. Due to lack of education some Dalits also echo such sentiments harming dalit interests.
