  • I'm 11 And Irish (Dublin) And All I Know On The Tin Whistle Is Twinkle Twinkle And London Bridge I Can Also Play Guitar And Recorder And Am Learning Piano

  • that spiral cut to the photo of the boat at the end was hauntingly beautiful. Careful with that intonation.

  • I know this as "The Arran Boat" and as a Scottish tune. ( Arran is a Scottish island not far from where I grew up ) Regardless of it's origins, which are open to debate, it's a great tune at any speed - lament, ballad, rowing song, march, jig - which is why it's survived so well. Nice playing Will ! :)

  • Hi! Beautiful!! Another hit by you! Is this song also called "Arran Boat Song"? You are a very talented person! Thanks again for sharing so much with the world!

  • I believe you may be correct about the alternative name. Thank you so much for watching and for your very kind comments! :-)

    ~Megan

  • Can you PLEASE send me the sheet music on this piece! I love it and want to try it on my tin whistle.....

I have a Clare whistle, is that a feadog?

  • I'm sorry but I have no sheet music for this tune. :(

You are correct, a Clare whistle, as are all whistles, is a feadóg. (Irish for the English word "whistle" is "feadóg".) This should not be confused with Feadóg Whistles which are a particular brand of tin whistles. ;-)

  • Is that original Irish Whistles ? i rly need one.

  • The whistle in the video is made by Michael Burke in America.

  • this is one of the nicest i ever heard. what make of whistle is that, please

  • I believe Will is playing a Burke in this video.

  • A verry nice tune to practice on,

hope I will learn to play it just like that.

    Thank's

  • wonderful....a very moving piece, you play it well.

  • Muy bonito, si señor. Plese, visit for my videos.

  • It's really a beautiful tune! I know it by the name of 'arran boat song', it's my mother's all time favourite, I've got to play it on my harp to her everywhere...in the garden, the living room, even in the kitchen while she's cooking :)

I like your rendition very much - simple, pure, touching.

Keep up the great work :)

  • Very well done. wish i could play like that.

    you have this on paper?

    please keep uploading.

  • beautiful!

  • Thank you! :-)

    ~Megan

  • Greetings!

You capture a mood and it is not foreboding... it's ethereal, celestial... like I can tell it's of you the individual, from your soul. Not many can do that! My cheap Walton's tin whistle is out of tune with you. Why? I thought all whistles were manufactured to "concert pitch". Also, can your recording and it's rate of record effect pitch? Keep the beard! Thanks for sharing as I am learning by watching you. You are a soulful musician!

    Sincerely,

    Michael

  • Well, thank you, Michael, for those truly wonderful comments. If Will were here I'm certain that his head would begin to swell from all of your flattery! :-)

  • I'm sorry, but I don't really know the answer to your questions. I do know that one of Will's first whistles was a Walton and he had trouble with it too. That's not to suggest that Walton is a bad whistle as others have only good things to say about them. I always thought that all whistles, as folk instruments, differed in some degree as to their pitch, but I could very well be wrong.

I wish I could have been more help than this. :(

  • Beautiful, I am just starting out on the tin Whistle

cristiano ronaldo vs moro , and if you wont write a good comment....bye!!!....

  • it's very apt for a song about the Irish sea, beautiful but ultimately sad and gloomy. dont think the song allowed for sellafield's radiation though, hehe.

  • good job

  • it's realy beautiful..i realy think of the sea when i hear it. i wasn't born in Ireland, but i feel conected with it in my heart and i'm realy touched by yer whistle....

  • Thank you. Your comment means a lot.

    ~Megan

  • I just went to ireland and got back like today and they played this kind of music all the time and i just love it, so i bought a tin whistle and now im teaching myself to play it. =]]

  • A grand cheer for you, Shannon! It always makes me happy to hear there's another whistle player in the making. It's hard to fight it once you've been bittin' by the bug. I'm sure you'll do just fine; the IMPORTANT thing is to have fun with it.

    ~Megan

  • I play 4 Irish whistles but I will never be this good. You are truly gifted man. Post more videos of this dude. I am also Irish at heart and this music takes were I know I belong.

  • Too beutiful for words! Do you know any CDs with this song recorded on it?

  • beutiful verry beutiful, it realy let me think about the sea!

  • Incredible! The way you play that song makes it feel like I am really at sea moving to the rhythm of the waves. There is a longing and a sorrow in it that resonates with me.

  • very nice

  • Great job Megan, I enjoyed it very much. Very soulful.

  • Being a irish fiddler and fan of the tin whistle, I think that was the most beautiful air I have heard in a WHILE. I'm going to Ireland this summer with my fiddle group and hope to hear beautiful songs like that one. You should play on movie soundtracks....

  • I believe it may be a Burke that Will is playing, although I'm not certain. Thank you, and everyone else, for the kind words.

    ~Megan

  • Can you help me? I am of Irish background and would like to research a place name, my great grandmother was Irish speaking and my family are only aware of St Murrin or Mhurrin. Is there such a place? I like your tune and thank you for the video.

  • Please check your general messages. I am not aware of any locales in Ireland by any of those names. I believe you had mentioned that she may have been from County Waterford. Perhaps someone else reading this recognizes the name and can provide some information. If you learn anything, please let me know, as I am interested in what the answer may be. Good luck to you!

  • Very beautiful tune. I never heard it before now.

  • This song is Beautiful! I can hear a few squeaks here and there but I have a lot of those still. You play very well!

  • You play beautiful tunes. Thanks.
