All of the clips from this concert are amazing; the quality of the performances, video, and sound is excellent, especially considering this was recorded 30 years ago. After stumbling across these videos on YouTube, I was happy to learn that the Drury Lane concert can be found in its entirety on the DVD that comes with the recent reissue of Architecture & Morality, which I just ordered from Amazon.
I saw this band 5 times from 1985 through 1990 in Los Angeles...also opened for them one show...and they put on an awesome show......if any band members are looking at this, I was the one holding the letters ELECTRICITY at Universal Amp and opened for them at Key club os Angeles....Paul signed my CD's
its good to know andy is as into it as i am.. i thought i was alone in flailing myself around like that to this album.. lovey love my omd.. it happens all the time..
Wow! You are right. I didn't notice that initially despite the fact that I play bass! Maybe it is because he could bring out certain sounds from it. Probably a more thicker sound. I am not sure about this though.
Fantastic! I love the arrangements on this song. The bass lines, the keyboard melodies and counter-melodies and the experimental drumming. Very well shot video as well. I have got OMD's first album. But this live version is slightly better than the recorded version.
OMD was using live percussion in the early days, DM used a tape or drum machine. Yet, Dm in the later years used live percussion. Confusing.

Does anybody knows why Andy plays the bass with the strings upside down?
carlosarios 2 years ago
Andy is right-handed, but originally learned to play bass guitar on a left-handed model. As a result, he plays with the strings "upside down"

same as ... it's hammersmith

It's The Theatre Royal Drury Lane 1981, that was the gig released on DVD. I'd imagine that's where this has come from.
They didn't play Hammersmith Odeon until '84.

Though the band hated it, the best version for me it's the one produced by Martin Hannett.

I hoped much to be able to see this one concert with this quality. This is my favorite from their first album; Thank´s!

Although it's still good, I don't think it has the amazing quality it does does otherwise live.
