my honest opinion i rather play RTS warhammer 40k it was meant to make like that people made shooter probably want a new experience majority of my own opinion its "Sucks" it was never made for shooter or just solo strategy dawn of war 2 and this game prime example of bad game, if you want to play warhammer and want to skip the novel play these game soulstorm, dark crusade and winter assault those 3 expansion are included the whole chapter on warhammer novel i rather wait for another series

I think that Warhammer 40k is really good candidate for action games along with RTS. I mean c'mon. Astartes are perfect for action games like this just because of hall badass they are, and how much hurt they can lay down...
@TheEoj96 Just cause it has blu ray doesn't mean that the graphics would be better, the programmers aren't going to re-render it to take advantage of the graphic qualities, I see no difference between Black ops and other games on Ps3 than I do when playing it on the 360

THQ Sledgehammer(One of the mods with very close ties to relic that manages their SM site) said "The game takes place on a parallel timeline within the fluff, but the characters are not the same." And "We have stated what company Captain Titus hails from the 2nd Company of the Ultramarines, which is not directly true to the fluff." I can send ya like to the page if you want.
LIKE I KEEP SAYING, this game has to be atleast 10hrs story campaign, lots of different kill animations from the assortment of melee weapons, EPIC BOSS FIGHTS, MORE set pieces like the battle in the skies shooting jet pack orcs, also good amount of jetpack combat and vehicular combat, no lengthy loading times, and varieties of enemies, bossess and mid bossess and tons of shitttz to blow up. YOU GUYS AGREE, got to get this GEARS 3, and RESISTANCE3, lord of rings war in the north next 2 monthsyea!

@T3NFOUR I love both Halo and 40k, but Halo is nothing like 40k. just because it has guns and armour and aliens doesn't meen it was inspired by it. actually Bungie were inspired to make Marathon from Doom, and from Marathon they decided to make Halo. Halos creation had nothing to do with 40k, completly unique, as is 40k, starcraft on the other hand clearly was inspired by 40k, that or its just the worlds most massive coincidence

@Picklesman1 this is a new type of gameplay style and i am pretty sure they dont want to mess it up by adding new story. It's supposed to be part of the current lore of the 40k universe so leave it alone...if it's successful they can then start adding new story, actually they are because of the 40k Dark millenium....

@TherandusGaming because a helmetless marine doesnt fit the image of a space marine.. the imposing image of the vader helmet and the eyes are what you think of when you think space marine.. and painting the eyes on those little fuckers is a BITCH.. so i tend to not paint them.. lol..
@TheTraveler12 it's ok you dont have to paint anything the game makers do that for you :P, besides it's part of the lore that the older more veteran space marines dont wear helmets, all warhammer things are like that :P, but i am sure you can wear a helmet anyway it would be a bit silly if they didnt have the option :)

I love both Gears and Warhammer but Warhammer has been around since the 80's ffs... if anybody copied anything it was from Warhammer, not the other way around.
@T3NFOUR Pretty much, Warhammer was the inspiration behind the entire Warcraft and Starcraft series, and consequently the success of Blizzard. The Spacemarine has become such a large influence in nerd culture that basically all protagonists from future based (and some present set) games are based around the mold set by them. The thick armor, the fearlessness in the face of total adversity etc. are all taken strait from the Spacemarine archetype.
@XxNiNjAsHaDoWxX Yeah it is sad when people don't know where the inspirations from their games came from or when they say Starcraft or any other space game is a wholly original concept. Tyranids=Zerg, Marines=Space Marines. While I enjoy other games, I acknowledge Warhammer has such a rich Universe no other game can really compare to. GW builds it up constantly and has been doing so for decades.
@T3NFOUR It inspires so many different concepts simply because it itself is a conglomerate of many different concepts (most blatant of those being Sci-fi, Fantasy, and Steampunk) and is the only IP ive ever seen pull off such a wide spread concept without it seeming shallow

that game play looks so much like gears of war... the curb stomp part is almost identical to gears of war's curb stomp, if the throw to the ground wasn't there it would be a exact curb stomp from gears of war .....

@Frday101 I know space marines are specialized, but even a captain against say 15-30 ork boys charging would be very very very lucky in the game to make it through.
Furthermore, against nobs and chaos space marines which are due to appear in the game he wouldn't last any time at all.
Thats why in my opinion a Warhammer game can't be realistic as a FPS, your character even as elite as a chapter master would still die faster than a noob in black ops, as long as the orks are a good as on table.
@MrSaveron scouts or orks? By the way i only won one turn of combat, the orks epic failed an initiative check and retreated into a wall of tanks. they had nowhere to go so i won :D
@MrSaveron From what I remember about table top is space marines had the best armor and you needed like a 5 or 6 to hit and I believe they had a wound role as well? Orcs were I believe a 3+ roll to hit. I think also some officers were a 6+ to hit which pretty much made them difficult as hell. Aside from special weapons it was fairly difficult to actually get wounding blows. You may need luck to get through it all, but luck was on your side as a space marine.
@MrSaveron A Captain would easily kill that many Ork boyz.
I do agree with you about the Chaos Marines though. They too are super human warriors like Titus. Just 2 or 3 attacking you at once should be like an epic boss fight.
The tabletop game isn't an accurate depiction of the 40k universe due to game mechanics and balance. If the tabletop was accurate, a person with a single Space Marine squad could defeat most armies.
Marines in the 40k universe truly are one-man armies.

I would love to play an obliterator (or whatever those big disgusting things with all the guns were called... it's been way too long :*(... ) anyway i love my chaos marines and i think it would be cool if for 1 mission we could all play the race we played in the tabletop game... if only for nostalgia purposes.

@TherandusGaming because a helmetless marine doesnt fit the image of a space marine.. the imposing image of the vader helmet and the eyes are what you think of when you think space marine.. and painting the eyes on those little fuckers is a BITCH.. so i tend to not paint them.. lol..

@TheTraveler12 it's ok you dont have to paint anything the game makers do that for you :P, besides it's part of the lore that the older more veteran space marines dont wear helmets, all warhammer things are like that :P, but i am sure you can wear a helmet anyway it would be a bit silly if they didnt have the option :)

I love both Gears and Warhammer but Warhammer has been around since the 80's ffs... if anybody copied anything it was from Warhammer, not the other way around.

@T3NFOUR Pretty much, Warhammer was the inspiration behind the entire Warcraft and Starcraft series, and consequently the success of Blizzard. The Spacemarine has become such a large influence in nerd culture that basically all protagonists from future based (and some present set) games are based around the mold set by them. The thick armor, the fearlessness in the face of total adversity etc. are all taken strait from the Spacemarine archetype.

Tyranids=Zerg, Marines=Space Marines. While I enjoy other games, I acknowledge Warhammer has such a rich Universe no other game can really compare to. GW builds it up constantly and has been doing so for decades.

Lets put two and two together, mix in some power armor, and realize nobody gives a fuck about the plot and its about murdering the shit out of everything.

@shaft052 My good sir, while I would like to point out that Gears of War, though uncredited, ripped off many Warhammer aspects; not other games; Warhammer.... The curbstomping thing is derived from Gears of War by the looks of it...

@Frday101 I know space marines are specialized, but even a captain against say 15-30 ork boys charging would be very very very lucky in the game to make it through.
Furthermore, against nobs and chaos space marines which are due to appear in the game he wouldn't last any time at all.
Thats why in my opinion a Warhammer game can't be realistic as a FPS, your character even as elite as a chapter master would still die faster than a noob in black ops, as long as the orks are a good as on table.

@MrSaveron From what I remember about table top is space marines had the best armor and you needed like a 5 or 6 to hit and I believe they had a wound role as well? Orcs were I believe a 3+ roll to hit. I think also some officers were a 6+ to hit which pretty much made them difficult as hell. Aside from special weapons it was fairly difficult to actually get wounding blows. You may need luck to get through it all, but luck was on your side as a space marine.

I do agree with you about the Chaos Marines though. They too are super human warriors like Titus. Just 2 or 3 attacking you at once should be like an epic boss fight.
The tabletop game isn't an accurate depiction of the 40k universe due to game mechanics and balance. If the tabletop was accurate, a person with a single Space Marine squad could defeat most armies.
Marines in the 40k universe truly are one-man armies.
