  • Damn tom cruise is young here! Great movie!!! my dad served in vietnam

  • @TheLApitfighter and my granddad joined the Army to fight against US Army, against your dad.He was a North Vietnamese officer, his unit killed about 50 US marines.I'm so sorry,we didn't want the war,we just defended our motherland from the enemy, regardless of how strong it was (is). The story is,the US soldiers was sent here to prevent the Communist from taking the South, but the Communist tried to merge the country into 1,they fought for motherland, not for Soviet Union,China or anything.

  • @thermonuclearweapon1 Your Granddad did his duty and became my countrys most worthy adversary's. I'm not a yank.

  • @thermonuclearweapon1 the elite don't care about communism. both the US and Russia are oligarchies. the elite do not want true freedom or democracy. it doesn't serve their purpose. they are fascists. the communism scare was a sham and excuse.

  • Kyra Sedgwick is unbelievably beautiful in this movie as Donna.

  • thx for upload

  • wow kennedy said to sacrifice. Now a days the tea party would call that socialism ahahaha you aint making me lose weight thats communist lol ahh tea party the party of the overweight and senile

  • Such an under rated cinematic classic. A true capture of Americana. Lost my young cousin 1 yr ago- coincidentally on my birthhday- me now 38- he- should be 22. Same quandry only Arabs instead of Asians. You'd think

With all our human advances we'd figure out a way to be 'one world' by now. Tragic. Senseless and not worthy of losing the potential of a fine young man. Well

    Miss you"J". God bless.

  • Oliver Stone is GOD!

  • Brilliant! By cutting from the prom to the war before the song is even finished, Oliver Stone has noted the loss of youth and innocence due to the Vietnam War in a stark and chilling manner.

  • Ive never understood why Americans are so afraid of communism...i mean to disagree with it is okay but some are nuts about it....thats more scary to me that any big red banner.

  • @Isthisthelongestname They got so caught with the fact that the Việt cộng were communists they ignored the fact they wanted Vietnam to be one unified country, the same situation in Ireland.

  • @animegalc4

The Vietnam war is not the same as The Troubles. I cant believe you said that. Still plenty of plastic paddys in the states think its a noble cause etc etc.

  • "Communism has to be stopped!" (5:50)

In this sense the war in Vietnam was eventually won.

Not only in Vietnam but also in USSR, Eastern Europe, China, etc.!

Annoying that the first 70 seconds are a repetiton of part 2.

  • @ssesf What the fuck are you on about, learn your history, China and Vietnam are both still communist. Did you even know that the Việt cộng were proud to be Vietnamese and wanted one, independent and united Vietnam, you believe that the US Army had the right to divide the country and prevent unification, we have the same situation in Ireland, now if the IRA were communists would you want troops deployed to Ireland and prevent Irish unification and allow British rule to continue?

  • @ssesf What the fuck are you on about, learn your history, China and Vietnam are both still communist.

  • @animegalc4 Of course the people in the south had a right to say NO to communism and all the evil it stands for and to seek the help they can get. Your prejudism prevents you from seeing this.

Just because communist countries have and had "Democratic" in their official name (e.g. German Democratic Republic) it didn't mean they are/were. Just because Vietnam and The People's Republic of China calls themselves communist doesn't mean they are. OPEN YOUR EYES! These countries have market economy.

  • Its so outrageous when America fights a war in the name of human rights somewhere in the world. The US is barely a democracy today.

  • @Epicsaursus

True, but those naive young boys believed that exactly THEY are the ones who will make USA ultimately win it all. But people are the same, no matter what decade, what generation.

It's the same thing today, all those marines in Iraq, Afghanistan, coming home in cuffing with American flag wrapped around it.

And all they are there really is oil for capitalists.

  • @DictatorRoB "And all they are there really is oil for capitalists."

No - for FASCISTS & Neo-Colonialists - USE OF VIOLANCE do not belong the basics of pure capitalism

  • @WatchersDigest

And what is "pure" capitalism? Capitalism doesn't give fuck if there is violence or not. Capitalism is pretty simple-Few rich people live from work of millions of poor people. If there is any way how to make money from violence, capitalists will welcome it.

  • @DictatorRoB "Capitalism doesn't give fuck if there is violence or not. " You meant greed people don't give a fuck -because CAPITALISM itself isn't EXECUTOR :o)

    Capitalism, communism, nazi-fascis, fascism..same shit...'Few Rools many '

  • @WatchersDigest

That's the right way-few rules many, but it all depends on who those few people are.

Best thing ever was and still is, when everything is ruled by one man, as it was in old times. No opposition, no obstacles.

  • @DictatorRoB RELLY? SO if I Would be ruler -and I woudl decide that YOU should die - would that be OK? It's not freedom , nor democracy nor libety. Only fools and poor educated admires Tyrant and tyranny

  • @WatchersDigest

No it wouldn't be right, there's no reason to kill me.

So what you're telling that if I was better educated, I would stand for capitalism?

  • @DictatorRoB If you lived in reality you would stand for capitalism.

  • @DictatorRoB SYSTEM where SOCIAL DEMOCRACY (capitalism)exist can do that but at the end its al labout people....if tere is greed or/and violant capitalists, fascists, nazi-fascists, nazis, stalinists, totalitarian commnists etc - no system ever works.

  • @WatchersDigest

Of course it's about the people, but capitalism is BASED on slavery of people for profit of few rich people. It's all only about that. In capitalism, money means everything and we are the cattle. Everything in capitalism costs money, even place at the cemetery.

Those capitalists knows how to achieve profit from your death as well as from your life.

  • @DictatorRoB

No system is perfect. As Churchill said, "democracy is the worse form of government, except for the others". Capitalism rewards individual effort. You tell me why you would want to work your ass off just to be at the same level as some lazy son-of-a-bitch in the communist way of life. In communism, everybody is brought down to the same level.

  • @DictatorRoB i believe a certain citigroup memo explained that the usa is a plutonomy

  • @DictatorRoB

Yes because America the political class wants to FEED ON WAR.

  • @NEMESIS1999

Exactly. But their days are counted.

  • @DictatorRoB are u seriously on ever fucking video about america spouting out bullshit????jesus dude if ur country becomes fascist i bet u would be crying in pain because ur leader hates u

  • @Rangerleadtheway44

If my country ever become fascist, I would be in government.

  • @DictatorRoB lol i bet u would fail miserably and end up on the lines below poverty wishing for a better life....i would laugh so damn hard seeing that happen to you

  • @TheRiverman85

Yes, because they are taught it will be a child play. propaganda makes them think how powerfull they are etc. It worked in 60's with Vietnam, and it works now with Afghanistan or Iraq.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheRiverman85

But they have no balls to do to Iran or North Korea what they did to Vietnam ;-)

  • @TheRiverman85

Yes, and many soldiers of Nam realized this after war, but where were their brains before they went to Nam?! I mean, what did they believe can Vietnam do to USA? There was Communistic giant Soviet Union in full power, and Americans believed that little poor Vietnam will put US demoracy in Jeopardy.

  • Oliver Stone cameo as the reporter on the TV?

  • @xtlhogciao Yes that's him...he has done cameos in several of his own movies, including 'Platoon.'

  • Hahaha, his mommy is afraid of Communism!

  • Ty for uploading

  • Why didn't Tom Cruise when all of the "Best Actor" awards for this? Easily his best.

  • i imagine my prom to be like this but, it had all this crazy music , no slow dance . No romantice classic prom music. Stupid DJ

  • The prom sequence is one of the most exhilarating, intoxicating, and profoundly moving scenes I have ever had the pleasure of watching in a film.

  • @Silverwire100 I agree when he kisses her..that close up..background music..literally he was saying goodbye.

  • @Silverwire100

agree with you Silverwire, best emotional scene ever in a film....or in life

  • @Silverwire100 You are right.

  • @Silverwire100 Makes me have to hold the tears back everytime. incredible

  • @Silverwire100 totally agree, the transition from moon river at the prom to a battle scene in Vietnam was just shocking.

  • @lifereguard

Moments like that don't exist in films today.

  • @lifereguard Sort of seems like Stone ripped off "Deer Hunter" with the transition from wedding to Nam.

  • @Silverwire100 I thought it was a waste of time and film. It hardly has anything do with the plot besides show he kissed her. All I care about is seeing him go to 'Nam and how much society has differed since then due to the counterculture and the Age of Aquarius. Another scene they really should have left out of the film: the sex scene between Ron and the Hispanic hooker, along with all the other features of nudity. Sex and romance is pointless in film and is only put in for marketing purposes.

  • No comments? Wow, best movie, one of the best anyway, on the Vietnam war. Also. Cruise's best movie ever. Thanks for uploading!!!!!!

  • @Bombeni I agree that it is an excellent film but I think Cruise gave a better performance in Magnolia, however you could argue that this is his best "lead" performance and Magnolie is only a supporting role.

PS: just cause you're right there are no comments lol
