This was because someone died at one of their shows earlier. They took that really personal and they felt responsible for it. Now they want to keep control of roughness because of it. I love icecream and fugazi!
1) Yes, it is Ian talking in the beginning but then Guy takes over with the ice cream stuff.
2) This is not a live version of Little Debbie. It's the version from the soundtrack. The Instrument movie contains several sequences of studio songs set to disjointed live footage. I would bet money that that song has NEVER been played live.
Now that I've cleared those things up...
Is it just me, or does Little Debbie sound a bit like the Beastie Boys?
I think you are getting a Sabotage feel off of the guitar part like me. Ian and the Beastie Boys were heavily influenced by Bad Brains and a lot of similar music. I have heard/seen the Beasties cover Minor Threat's "Screaming at a Wall" very well.
Not at all surprised to see similarities between Fugazi and The Beastie Boys....they have a lot more in common than most would believe.
This is so great...so few bands would have the integrity to stop in the middle of a show and tell jerks to behave themselves and respect people. Love them for that, and of course the music!
I was at this show. He was talking to my friend's little brother (M). What's funny is that M was just chilling but these dudes in front of him where trying to make it a HC scene - throwing kicks, etc but they thought it was him. Forgot about this until I bought the CD for that show a little while ago. Laughed my ass off.
I saw Xiu Xiu a few months back and Jamie Stewart got pissed and yelled this spat at some homophobe and told him to get away from the stage and go stand in the corner. It's was awesome.
Thumbs up if you're eating ice cream right now.

Obviously a subject close to Ian's heart as he used to work in a Häagen-Dazs with Henry Rollins.

A couple of things, for the record:

2) This is not a live version of Little Debbie. It's the version from the soundtrack. The Instrument movie contains several sequences of studio songs set to disjointed live footage. I would bet money that that song has NEVER been played live.

Wow, Ian is fucking pissed... Is Picciotto the other person talking at the beginning?
IAmKrow 3 years ago
actually, i believe it's guy who says the "ice cream" part and ian talking at the beginning, with the "try to be a little more kind".
ruxandrescu 3 years ago 2
Yeah, I meant at the beginning of the video.

@IAmKrow Yeah, that's Guy alright. Possibly one of the most funniest ways of emasculating macho knuckleheads at a show.

It's astounding how similar this live version of little debbie is to the studio version. The band's sound is so consistent.
gravityass 3 years ago
I agree! And the fact that they don't have a set list too really sets them apart. Wish I could have seen them live.
