The bodies at Pompeii were not preserved. The volcanic ash covered everything and over time, turned into a form of soft stone. It, naturally, covered all the organic material such as plants and bodies. As the ash turned to stone, the organic material decomposed. When Pompeii was being excavated, these voids or hollows were found. The excavator thought to fill them with plaster and this is how we know about the people. The "bodies" are just plaster.

Just about everything here is wrong. The eruption was in 79BCE, not 70 (the date of the fall of Jerusalem). The first Roman Caesar didn't have a throne, as far as we know, he sat on a chair, like everyone else. No throne has been dug up, certainly not at Pompeii, which was a resort village (think Palm Springs). Rome didn't even feel this, and wasn't touched by anything until sacked about 400 years later.

I searched around for videos that would show the things seen in this video and join in an intelligent conversation, but most of the comments are fighting about something that has nothing to do with Pompeii. AOL needs to set up a site so people can go there to argue and cuss at each other. Roomiller is correct about how the bodies were formed by plaster. When Pompeii artifacts were on tour one of these hollows they filled with resin and you could see it was a young girl with a ring on her finger.

Actually, to clear up a misconception:
The bodies at Pompeii were not preserved. The volcanic ash covered everything and over time, turned into a form of soft stone. It, naturally, covered all the organic material such as plants and bodies. As the ash turned to stone, the organic material decomposed. When Pompeii was being excavated, these voids or hollows were found. The excavator thought to fill them with plaster and this is how we know about the people. The "bodies" are just plaster.

2. The bodies WERE burnt by volcanic debris, but that debris also buried the whole city.. the bodies were carefully uncovered by archaeologists.

I'm afraid that's wrong in detail. It was several mighty blasts over a week, though Pompeii was put paid about 24 hours after it started. The "prophesy", like many such, doesn't name places. That is so convenient. It could have been Pompeii, it could have been Santorini, it could have been any of several hundred earthquakes anywhere around the Med. It is general enough to be any of them, or perhaps it is bemoaning a general indifference of teh Earth toward human life.

I think it is amazing this ancient city lasted so long without falling completely to pieces even after a volcanic eruption, and now we see bodies in their last minutes before death. Even the paintings show their detail as if they were painted yesturday. God is also using this city as a warning for future generations along with Sodom and Gomorrah. God wants us to come back to him not perish in hell for eternity.

The latest previous eruption of Vesuvius was 800 years previously. They lived 12 miles away. While the Romans knew of Etna and Stromboli, they had no experience (or even words in the language) to handle a Plinian eruption; in fact, this was that definitive model.

Right now, 4.5 million people live nestled around Vesuvius, which last erupted in 1944. Hell, take a look at what the Pompeii neighborhood looks like. Go to Lat 40.750004, Lon 14.488156.

Just about everything here is wrong. The eruption was in 79BCE, not 70 (the date of the fall of Jerusalem). The first Roman Caesar didn't have a throne, as far as we know, he sat on a chair, like everyone else. No throne has been dug up, certainly not at Pompeii, which was a resort village (think Palm Springs). Rome didn't even feel this, and wasn't touched by anything until sacked about 400 years later.
You'd best go back to sleep and let this pass.
