But motorcycle clubs are not organised crime associations. Recent headlines of "Bikie Arrested" detail a "bikie associate" (whatever they define that to be) who was arrested for carrying a baseball bat in his car! I'm not in a biker gang, but think there's a wider issue at stake here: a government deciding who can and can't associate. Remember that everytime these laws a brought in, they have a tendency to creep. Governments simply should have no say on who can and can't associate and I distrust their motive here. We've got thousands of them overseas right now, fighting for other peoples freedom.

When legislation becomes enshrined in law this does not make it just. Unjust laws have impacted on humanity many times over the past 100 years. These current laws appear as clearly unjust, as they deny basic human rights to persons who associate with someone who is declared illegal and indeed the person who is declared illegal. It is a sad time in Oz when the governments have attained the legal power to tell a person who their mate may or may not be. Together we stand, divided we fall.

Geez, if their going to make it a crime to associate with declared persons, ie known criminals, how are most of the NRL teams going to train, play etc..... We already have laws in place to combat drug dealing, murder etc so why do we need draconian powers to tell you who you can and cannot associate with??? If a club member is breaking the law.. ie drug dealing etc, arrest him, otherwise respect their right to choose to be who ever they want to!!

How could anyone support the Government in this situation? Yes, I am aware of the Motorcycle Gang's criminal activities. But making it illegal to associate with declared individuals or groups? When this Government without a Bill of Rights takes away our Rights to Religion, Expression or something else would you stand up and say No? This Monarchy holds the Rights to change our Amendments. Whatever happened to our humble Australian motto's? Discriminate the bad seeds, not the whole.

The stereotype that 'bikies' have received from the public is obviously because of the media, we all know the media twists and turns stories just to make the big story for viewers and basically money. It is unbelievably unfair that as a community we all have to suffer due to a couple of bad seeds in a few organizations.

If you honestly think that bikies are criminals because of their drug associations resulting in destroying lives then yes it makes sense but shouldnt we look at our own government and realise that our 'own government' is the biggest criminal of them all. Gambling is a huge factor in destroying lives however a vital necessity for the governments money. The public are being tricked; lied to est.

@getciscofamiliar that shows a complete lack of logic. It doesn't matter a damn whether you believe bikies are criminals or have drug associations or not. They are innocent until proven guilty. The police don't have the evidence, can't get them convicted, so would like to dispense with that and just declare them criminals without proof and without a trial, and then call it a crime to associate with these people.

by the government all the time and for bikies to be discriminated by a stereotype makes it totally outrageously ridiculous. But its not only bikies being discriminated but the public also. Just because a man with a couple of tattoos and is riding on a bike is immediately assumed with the bikie stereotype. It is clear that they are being targeted making the issue inhumane. What difference is this from the discrimination of Jews threw the media in the 1930s.

Im not saying its going to be the holocaust all over again, thats ridiculous however we have come so far to only target a minority ONCE AGAIN. For This a world of peace we are not alliteratively looking at other means rather than be direct and harsh to this poor minority. Of course they had numerous chances but their dignity, their pride is important and is to anyone of us who belongs to something significant in our lives.

Lets just all remember it never used to be like this and it doesnt have to be like this. Fellow bikies should straighten up their act (eliminate bad seeds) and show everyone that this stereotype was branded from the wrong reasons rather than then right reasons.
As a majority we can change laws, government, anything because in numbers we are powerful.

There are already laws against murder, affray, and drug-dealing. Yes, policing and investigation into organised crime is difficult and takes effort. That's life. But motorcycle clubs are not organised crime associations. Recent headlines of "Bikie Arrested" detail a "bikie associate" (whatever they define that to be) who was arrested for carrying a baseball bat in his car! You think they'd arrest a man in a suit for that? It's straight-up discrimination of a vulnerable minority.

Hardly the tip of the spear when it comes to investigative journalism... nevertheless... there is no doubt that there are undesirable elements in bike 'gangs' - but the operative is 'gang'. MCs are associations - groups of individuals who 'derive pecuniary gain through the enjoyment of facilities or services provided... for social, recreational, educational or other like purposes'. To label all motorcycle clubs and bikers as 'gangs' and 'criminals' is incorrect.

I'm not in a biker gang, but think there's a wider issue at stake here: a government deciding who can and can't associate. Remember that everytime these laws a brought in, they have a tendency to creep. Governments simply should have no say on who can and can't associate and I distrust their motive here. I doubt that they brought in such a draconian law just because of the airport fracas. We are seeing restriction on liberty worldwide. Ask yourselves why.

I`d just like to add that on the 14th of march I went for a ride out to Gawler with my missus,I left the H-D at home and went on the new JAP bike I bought,the missus was on her bike,she wanted to take photos of the historic Protest Ride.Just before Gawler we were pulled over,randomly drug and alcohol tested,but no cars were[not random]and then duly PHOTOGRAHPED,we had done nothing wrong but are now labled by the cops.GUILTY BY ASSOCIATION.

As a committed trade unionist, I reckon you guys deserve our support.
These laws are as bad as Howard's buiding industry laws (which Rudd has largely maintained), which set up a secret police force to investigate construction workers, and which deny building workers basic civil liberties, like the right to silence and the right to refuse to answer questions.
Leave bikies alone - they're no more threatening than your average footy team or knitting circle.

My old man worked at LongBay for years, teaching guitar he worked with a few different Crew's over the years and made some good friends. When I was a kid, we lived on Louisa Rd - a few houses down from a Crew's clubhouse. It concerns me that this video doesn't address what the public NEED to hear, - no more violence and a push from within the Crew's to get rid of the drug running dickheads. If you want to be able to associate you need not spin but enact behavioural change within your ranks.

Read the legislation.. Any member of an OMCG who does not attempt to expose and report crime is complicit in a criminal act and as such deserves societies condemnation.
