  • It's like he's looking right into my very soul.

  • Best vocalist anywhere.

  • I absolutely love it when he belts out "SILLY HUMAN PRIIIIIDE", the emotion and the energy in his voice is simply astounding. :)

  • Man, what a voice!!! I love this song!

  • happy 64th birthday

  • Happy Birthday Burton Cummings !

  • wow

  • An amazing song!!

  • Man, never noticed how much BC looks like a young Alex Trebeck!

    He is smooooooth.

  • The man never is out of key nor ever hits a bad note...

  • BRING BACK DECENT MUSIC..............

  • what a fantastic voice. I've always loved this song

  • OMG, I love this song!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Burt Reynolds

  • This tune would have been better had it been done with The Guess Who. What happened there? At any rate, This tune isn't bad, but, it could've been better with his band The Guess Who involved.

  • such a great voice... have to wonder what the music might have been...Guess Who doesn't spit...he & Bachman together at their peak

  • The set looks a lot like the Superman layer lol

  • I am in the deep with Burton ! He is a star, genius, poet, seeker of new ideas !!!!!

  • Burton is very talented but mostly he sits very tall behind the piano.

  • Burton Cummings is a Canadian National Treasure!

  • 13 people have fallen.

  • @BobCubTAC Ha

  • Such a great song. So inspirational to me right now in my life.

  • Burton Cummings has one of the best voices in all of music.

  • who gives a shit if live or not, the guy could sing the shit out of any song. if u doubt it then please pull your lower lip over your eyebrows.....i hate peeps who have nothing to offer

  • Great song a song with a lot of meaning wow nice o hear truth sometimes isn't it

  • I never realized how much he looked like Dennis DeYoung back in the day.

  • The Guess Who will never be the same without B.C. as their front man.

  • @epgrove1961 burton & the guess who sucked without randy(bto) tho... do u wonder why??

  • Burton Cummings' catalogue is a treasure. (Anyone been to the Burton Cummings Theatre in Winnipeg?) His voice can be heard on The Guess Who songs American Woman, These Eyes, Hand Me Down World, No Time, Undun, Share the Land and don't forget Burton's I'm Scared. I just saw him perform tonight at the Canyon Club in Agoura. He still has "The Voice" and still brings it just like the records. Bravo.

  • This guy and John Fogerty were my favorite voices of the late 60s early 70s. I was only 6 when I first heard em both and they both could still belt it out. Just saw Mr. Cummings last night at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano here in So. Cal. Played this song, which he said has been out of his set for over 15 years or so and got a 'STANDING OVATION' from our quaint but appreciative audience.

  • This is a pioneer of Rock'n'Roll, An inventor of a genre 'Prairie Rock'. The Guess Who. Wrote and performed 'Anthems' for a generation. This man wrote and performed his own original lyrics and music. He did most of that before his 40th birthday. Burton Cummings = Music Legend

  • I wish i was born in the 70s sometimes. Great music.

  • Love all your music! Thank you!

  • good one, I remember being at a Guess Who concert in Minneapolis and most of the crowd had left, we were walking across the floor in front of the stage and Burton came out and sat at the piano and called about 100 of us to the stage and performed a few solo tunes for Us, what a class act.

  • This song got me thru so much pain in my life. Tomsr.

  • Burton has always been my favorite male vocalist. Another is Justin Hayward of the Moody blues. I never get tired of this song. So much feeling. The piano makes you feel the lonelyness and pain. Burtons voice is outstanding. A true test of a performer, is to sing without all the backround noise of a loud band. Patsy Cline is another performer that had a wonderful stand alone sound. Rock on Burton!

  • luv this guy...wish he would come back to nova scotia/ sydney/glace bay

  • Sheer Brilliance - then and always !!!!!

  • I believe Burton wrote this about a long time girl friend (in Winnipeg) who broke up with him.

  • saw him two days ago in montreal (may 2011). I expected this late in his career that he would just run the song list. No. He poured everything into every song. Excellent show!

  • gayass song

  • @xgalore77zerha268 looser !!

  • @lifeson241 who? oh burton yeh i know, i already knew that though dickhead

  • @xgalore77zerha268 Go to the dollar store and purchase a personality fuck head

  • @lifeson241 already got one thanks, have a cry fag

  • @xgalore77zerha268 get a life dope head..I'll lay you out with one punch punk

  • @lifeson241 haha ooooo i'm terrified, the baby's trying to act though lol, i'll tell you what though, when you get to me, i'll give you my tea shirt so you can cry into it, then go back to your mummy little baby

  • @xgalore77zerha268 Do you enjoy being a transsexual?? Be truthful cocksucker

  • @lifeson241 you tell me, your the only one here that fits the bill as far as that's concerned, to be a crying little baby and a transsexual, wow nice combination you got there. do you play with pokemon cards as well little baby?

  • @xgalore77zerha268 Im crying like a baby???? Get some sleep fag

  • @lifeson241 yeah your crying like a baby, just like always, man i just love repeating myself, but with idiots you have to, how disappointed your parents must be, to have such a useless cry baby for a son, tell em to try for another son that won't be such a failure in life.

  • WTF??? There is no way this is lip sinc'd. Listen to the original recording and then compare it to this. Different order of choruses, every line has different nuances and phrasing compared to the released track, he even says "my piano" and not "my old piano".

    This IS live.

  • what a manly voice. wanna curl up next to it and just enjoy!

  • what a great song i haven't heard since i was a kid i wish you can write more makes me cry?

  • what a great song i haven't heard since i was a kid

  • what a beautiful song i wish they wrote songs like this today? it takes me back .

they don't make them like they used to

  • @darindavis100 Amen.

  • what a beautiful song i wish they wrote songs like this today? it takes me back .

  • Almost forgot about this great song untill i heard it at work the other day. I could not help but sing along, a customer said that i was showing my age.

  • @rjtoom1958 If you were'nt that age you would have missed out.

  • @alpha18412 i agree with you the 70"s were te best

  • Love him, great with The Guess Who and great solo career.

  • Thank you for sharing.

  • He was awesome!

  • have to agree with bowlermikey about Burtons voice- the only other voice who could compare is Graham Bonnet from Rainbow in the 70's

  • I defy anyone to name one artist today, just 1, that has as much talent as this guy had in his day in his little finger, exluding michael jackson? A true living legend this guy is. Remember what real music sounded like? You gen x & y, have shiete for your music today. You've been led to buy garbage. All true. Some day you'll look back on the crap you've been brought up with, and see how you've been lied to by the people you now call "artists". lol.

  • @jp2059 Burton was awesome, no doubt....But there was a lot of crap recorded back in our era too. There are many talented artists recording now. I'd sure hate for someone to listen to "Muskrat Love" and decide THAT was what we were all about back then.

  • The artists out there now should learn to write lyrics like this.

  • LOVE IT!!! I love Burt Cummings......always have...even when i was a kid growing up in the 70's!

  • I miss music that was made by people who had talent. People playing instruments with a voice like that of ol' Burton. Now we hear a lot of computer sounds and voice manipulation. Live performances that have nothing to do with the actual music because most of the people are lip syncing along to a damn tape. Sadly, my friends, Rock n' Roll is a 97 year old man with cancerous tumors covering 95% of his body. The disease keeps spreading, and doesn't seem as though it will be stopping any time soon.

  • Fantastic!

  • His voice is right up there with Gary Puckett. This is a great song!

  • What a voice, what music, what talent. Gives me chills and I love it.

  • Thanks a ton for posting this. I played this 8-track to death back in the 70's

  • I Absolutely LOVE this man. He is by far one of the GREATEST Canadian Singers Ever. Fantastic Pianist - Vocals to Die for. I have not heard one song by him that I didn't like. Could listen to his music ALL DAY. I don't think he got near enough Recognition considering what a WONDERFUL SINGER he is. 1000 THUMBS UP !!!!! :)))

  • @newfiekitchenparty Right on

  • awesome!!! Thanks for the memories!!!

  • This song was good! But did he hang out with Gino Vanelli's hairstylist? :-)

  • Great voice.

  • Burtons is Guess Who without whom would not be the band I used to know.

  • Burtan cum stains

  • @darrylsh Heh.. we used to call the "White Spot" the "Wet Spot" (the "White Spot" is a chain of restaurants in BC, Alberta, and Washington)

  • @darrylsh Heh heh.. We used to call the "White Spot" the "Wet Spot" (the White Spot is a chain of restarants in BC, Alberta, and Washington)

  • @shmuli9 Trying to think of a gross comeback but got nothing...except cum

  • @darrylsh That's OK... It's seems I vaguely remember this performance...

  • This guy can hang with Elton and B Joel any day!! One hell of a misician. One of the best, I still have old real albums of him * Guess Who!!

  • This guy can hang with Elton and B Joel any day!! One hell of a misician.

  • Jesus, Burton: You seem to know all our inner Souls! "Keep up the great songs"!

  • Good artist - losing a love is loosing a love, there is no turning back and no fixing it, it is better to have your silly human pride than loosing that as well.

  • Is this man really singing this with no backup? Because he sounds incredible !

  • What a class song from one of the classiest singers of his time!! He has one of those voices that you can recognize right away. Not many artists can pull that off.

  • u got me down on my knees

  • BEAUTIFUL! BEAUTIFUL! BEAUTIFUL!

  • No lip syncing with this guy. Not in this one. Thanks for the post. Best voice of the 70's no dought

  • @bowlermikey You are right. I SO wish he would release more...

  • @bowlermikey Ditto.

  • @bowlermikey I love The Guess Who and Burton has a great voice... but if you think he isn't lip synching here you need to get your ears checked. Yes, there are some added musical flourishes, but this is lip synched without question. Doesn't diminsh the song in any way.

  • @BiBo24 sorry buddy, your wrong... its live, in a tv studio.. no lip syncing here

  • @bowlermikey You're right about that buddy. One of the best all time voices in my opinion!!!

  • @bowlermikey It sounds lip sync'd to me. Check out his distance from the mic and how the volume level never varies.

  • @LordSnow69 If it seems lip synced its because he is on a tv soundstage, they probably did some post production to balance the levels and he is a great singer

  • @jeffunderglass It's lip sync'd dude. Plain and simple. Nobody got to be "live" on TV in the 70s

  • @LordSnow69 Really? Well sorry "dude", like other 70s shows... Midnight Special, The Tonight Show, Carol Burnett Show etc, etc, this was recorded live. Even the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. (which produced this show) produced weekly variety shows in the 70s like Tommy Hunter and Don Messers Jubilee where the performers were recorded live. I guess the only show you watched in the seventies was American Bandstand.

  • @LordSnow69 This is NOT lip synching. Evidently you never heard the studio version of this song or you'd know the vocals are indeed live on this song.

  • @bowlermikey your right .... im going to see him with my Mom this Friday cant wait:}:}:}

  • @bowlermikey agreed. Burton Cummings is one of the greatest voices in rock history along with Gary Puckett.

  • whoever directed this is a frickin idiot...what's with the 200 foot away shots!!...i thought it was to disguise lip syncing bu t i don't know

  • This is a beautiful song and I could listen to it all day.

  • Gorgeous song that I've loved for decades. Beautiful arrangement, unobtrusive accompaniment, great bass line...thanx for posting. I have the single 45, and I think it was only released as a mono rather than stereo, though the LP was likely available in stereo.

  • OMG - the goosebumps & yearning for yester-year. (I may be old but I'm still a die hard romantic!).

  • The song is so beautiful and so wonderfully performed, like a classic hymn.. Excellent. Perfect Thank you, Mr. Cummings.

  • Inspired lyric, elegantly simple delivery, and, oh, by the way, perhaps one of the most gifted vocalists to cruise down the pike...

  • @mesonsdad where exactly is the "pike"? is it in canada?

  • "Yes, Virginia, there is a pike or 2 in Canada," particularly now that Canada, in much the same way Pluto was unceremoniously "demoted" in the solar system, is now officially recognized as a "near-nation." Since "pike" is defined as the point of a spear, and that third-world, ungrateful, unevolved, mostly vacant land mass equips its military with spears (when its budget allows for such decadent defense spending!), there would necessarily be "pikes" just runnin wild over there!!!

  • god .what a voice .....whats happend to music .? no singer songwriters anymore.....man the heartfelt lyrics......I know what happend ...no nobody gives a shit about one another anymore.......so sad......but man I'm so glad I grew up in the 70's......I didnt miss out on the greatest decade of music ever....

  • What show was this on?

  • Burtons voice and his songs makes mine spine have goose bumps. Great singer.

  • Man he could belt them out! Simply an outstanding musician, then and even so today. If you get a chance to see him, you'll be amazed at how he's maintained his voice and musical craft despite being 60+. Canada loves ya Burton!

  • I think Burton's voice got better with time.

  • love that set

  • love that set

  • Could somebody please upload "One and Only", my favourite BC song.

  • He's just one of a kind! Great music from Burton

  • Along with Mickey Thomas, perhaps one the best rock vocalists of of all time.

  • He is awesome! Never get tired of listening to him sing!

  • Canada does have great singer's so many and all great...Thanks Canada for sharing the talent with the rest of us....=)

  • @veleegygirl - Thanks...makes me proud to be a Canadian. Burton Cummings, Joni Mitchell, etc. :)

  • Even if you don't like this genre of music, this guy's talent is undeniable.

  • Good Old Winnipeg Boy

  • Extremely talented and underrated.

  • Your so right my friend!!

  • @lelly0851 check out Burton's web page. Burton is streaming almost every song he ever released, with more being added regularly!!

  • Porno star mustache, but a talented SOB.

  • @bcushing Burton Cummings cousin Peter North is a porn star from Canada who still does porn even today.Burton Cummings dick is so small he says the woman used to call him "Peter South".

  • did you make this up yourself? I'm just wondering because I almost pooped when I read it. It was so clever I almost couldn't take it. It must have taken you months to come up with this! And by the way, what's your talent? Is it, playing the piano or porn? Or is it nothing?

  • @bjz1981

You forgot to reply directly TO him. He likely didn't read the comment.

  • this has got to be the be the best voice next to Michale Bolton.

  • this is fot tobe the most powerful voice next to Michale Bolton

  • Holy crap, this is good.

  • Burton Cummings not only has the best voice in rock and roll history but is also one of the best (if not the best) songwriter ever. Brilliant work that is not going to be properly imitated by anyone-nor should they even try to imitate it. And his band, The Guess Who, trails only Foghat as my favorite band ever. Saw them in the Runnin' Across Canada tour of 2000 in Kamloops, BC. Incredible show. Saw The Old World Guess Who in Seattle in 1975, Dominic Troiano was the lead guitarist at that time.

  • Whats that guys name again? You know, he was a workshop owner in the gulch for the people and he offered himself to the world. He was a diesel fixer, fixed a diesel, diesel fixed me what a weasel oh no. Baby was a workshop owner. Oh ya thats right, Albert flasher was his name. lol

  • Im more of a kiss, guns n roses, pearl jam, tesla, stone temple pilots, i mother earth, motley crue fan, but this guy is truely an amazing singer. Ive played and sang in several bar bands in my life so i can appreciate his vocals. I dont think people realize how hard it is to sing a Burton Cummings song. He is often imitated but never ever ever will he be duplicated. The Guess who are rock legends that inspired numerous bands, too many to count actually. FANTASTIC

  • Burton Cummings has a voice that in itself IS MUSIC!

  • @cjd1957able Burton joined TGW in January 1966 and shortly there after lead singer, Chad Allan, left the band. Burton was the voice of TGW until September 1975 when the band disbanded. Donnie, Bill, and Greg did lead vocals on a few songs.

  • hey

  • i have always thought burton had the best natural voice,

  • @cjd1957able Cummings was the lead singer for the Guess Who until the band broke up. Apparently he wanted to do more stuff like this, and Randy Bachman wanted to do harder rock tunes like Taking Care Of Business.

  • @Ki11erAce - Actually, Bachman left the band in 1970 and was replaced by Kurt Winter, who was replaced by Greg Leskiw, who was replaced by Don McDougall, who was replaced by Domenic Troiano. Bachman left the band mainly due to his conversion to Mormonism after his marriage, and his new belief that the bands excesses ("a bag of goodies and a bottle of wine, we're gonna get it on right tonight") were immoral. Bachman recorded one album with Brave Belt before forming BTO.

  • @svanstuka Mormonism? Hmmm interesting and just goes to show how bad religion is. I'll have to see if its in Wikipedia

  • @svanstuka almost - Bachman left and was replaced by Winter and Leskiw. Leskiw left and was replaced by McDougall....McDougall and Winter were fired and replaced by Trioano

  • @cjd1957able Yes. Check out Share the Land,Burton Cummings with the Guess Who,and American Woman.

  • CUMMINGS rofl!

  • @AnimatorLinden fuck off cunt!

  • @TheEruditepolymath go change your tampon! >:-)

  • Pure class.

  • First heard Stand Tall in 1978. I was 16 and had a big crush on my Dad's friend's daughter. Our families spent a couple weeks together and afterwards we never saw each other again though we corresponded for a couple of years. This song cut right to the heart of how I felt.

  • BURTONS MASTERPIECE

  • Talent,artistry,and VOICE!! Absolutely AWESOME!!

  • Comment removed

  • Some people just get blessed with this kind of talent . Why? Hopefully because they also have the determination to share it with the rest of us. Burton surely does.

  • I met Burton on five occasions, in 1976, 1981, 1992, 1993, and 2006, and the man is just as easy-going and cool with fans as he's always been. He's the real deal as most Canadian musicians are.

  • i knew gordon from day one I'm from detroit

  • wreck is my least favorite song

  • i love them both

  • u forget gordon lightfoot

  • WHAT..the "Wreck" against "Stand Tall"?

  • Connie, this is why we liked him, me a little more maybe, but he was a hottie with a little smokin body.

  • gordon lightfoot
