I converted from Catholicism to Celtic Shamanism because I found no spiritual development at all. Christianity is not for everyone, same with Paganism, but I found my Path, and it isn't telling people what to beLIEve.
I think people confuse Wicca and Witchcraft too much. Witchcraft is the another name for the Old Religion in Europe, but Wicca, as you stated, is a modern form of Witchcraft. In a way, it is Witchcraft come back into the modern era, and Goddess bless Gardner for bringing Paganism back.
As far as I know, Wicca as a religion was founded by Gerald Gardener and Margret Murray; it's the reawakening of norse, celtic or mediterrenian european religious tradition, that in many aspects was never dead as such, but remembered in local lore, as european witch one just has to go to all the fountains with chapels nearby dedicated to mother mary - and do your rites for Sirona and Hygieia and the great mother there as soon as the priest is gone

I think people confuse Wicca and Witchcraft too much. Witchcraft is the another name for the Old Religion in Europe, but Wicca, as you stated, is a modern form of Witchcraft. In a way, it is Witchcraft come back into the modern era, and Goddess bless Gardner for bringing Paganism back.

As far as I know, Wicca as a religion was founded by Gerald Gardener and Margret Murray; it's the reawakening of norse, celtic or mediterrenian european religious tradition, that in many aspects was never dead as such, but remembered in local lore, as european witch one just has to go to all the fountains with chapels nearby dedicated to mother mary - and do your rites for Sirona and Hygieia and the great mother there as soon as the priest is gone

Their theology is strongly influenced by Christian Reconstructionism - they hope to "reconstruct" the United States along biblical (primarily Old Testament) lines and to establish a white-dominated theocracy. I think scientists did an awfully good job debunking Genesis as well as the story about Jonah living inside a fish for three days and the story about the Jews in Egypt.
As for my beliefs, I'm a Satanist. I believe that all gods, devils, angels, and demons are mythological characters. Yahweh, Jesus, and Satan are just as fictional as Zeus, Hercules, and Hades.
