i have a 67 coupe with a c4 and a 289, i was thinking about going with a 351w but im not sure. can i really make that much power out of a 289? how much do u think its capable of?
You can make tons of power out of these engines. We just finished mine and are estimating 425 HP. Andy has built my combo many times with similar results. Andy has never dyno'd the car in the video but we would guess it is around 500 or more. Now if you start talking boost you can only imagine the power levels. They are light and rev quick which equates for a fast car. Bigger engine= WEIGHT!
Stroked Windsor hands down. That guy is runnin a ton of nitrous to go 10.50 with 289. You can go 10.50 with a 408 Windsor and no sauce, and drive it to the local burger joint every weekend.
@adelphia4 i got the exact same car and i took my 289 stroked it to a 347 and with the right combo of parts a got 565 hp out of it naturally aspirated so the is a loot of potential
im nowhere close to andy's et's but im trying, this year ill actually get slicks! the tunnel ram is on the way and a new cam, should be 11 something's.
Ya, they are a lot of fun. He just helped me build my first engine for my 66'. Same type of build....stock components, lightweight everything, lots of porting and polishing, and a huge cam and we are gunning for the 11's. I can't wait!

I need to get some input from you on my 289.
Maybe I'm missing something vital because I only turn 7.90's in the 1/8th with mine.

I believe it is a 289. The old school guys know what to do with them. I have a 289 in a 1990 mustang lx that pulls 7.90 in the 1/8th with a bad tune.
