I was there.. inclding the opening shows back in 80 to open "Brendan Byrne Arena"... big thing that sinatra got pissed off cuz he wasn't aksed to open the arena and Bruce was...LOL
@leatherneck1957 - you're half correct: Bruce and the band inaugurated the BB arena, but not in '80. They opened on July 02, 1981 with six shows. The Sinatra story is very much true as my brother worked at the NJSEA at the time and relayed to me that Sinatra's people were plenty steamed.
@speyez yep ur right. He began the river tour in 80 and finished in 81... I try to keep track of the number of bruce shows I've been to over the years each year I add to it.... I'm up to 119 including solo non esb shows, benefits and tributes where bruce has played as well... I've only missed a handful on the east coast since seeing him first time back in 71 over near Rutgers U (Pre-clarence). missed a few but not many...anyhow things get foggy after that many shows & years.
This was the opening night of the US leg of the reunion tour, 1999. 15 nights in New Jersey. Amazing to hear the crowd get louder and louder with each E-Streeter who comes on stage. The ovation for Clarence was one of the loudest things I have ever heard. And then out comes Bruce and the whole thing just raises up another level. Phenomenal.
Great Show...love(d) it.

What do you think Cheryl, Simon, Danni and Louie would make of him. LOL. That's the X Factor right there for me!

couldn't agree more. The three rounds of guitar solo in the LIve in NYC version are way better. Poor Big Man....
