I'm pretty sure that Bradley will have been playing up to it at the time. HoweverI doubt that there are few grown men who wouldn't resist a snigger at the thought of a phrase that sounded very much like 'fanny smeller' being mentioned on prime time tv.

What a fake this is. Do you really think a grown adult would scrunch up his face uncontrollably just because the word "Fanny" came up on the screen. It was embarassing to watch, and I was on my own at the time. I think Anne was trying not to be embarrassed at Bradley's pathetic attempt too.

@Selinor578 - I disagree, he's not laughing at 'Fanny', he's laughing at ' Fanny Chmelar', i.e. 'Fanny Smeller' (as Heds954 points out). The other key point is that when you're in a position where you're not suppose to laugh, that in itself can bring on a laughing attack, even if in your head you're telling yourself, "don't laugh", "it's not THAT funny", "GROW UP", etc, you can still lose it, where the more you try to stop, the harder it gets. I've been in that position, I know how it feels :-D
