Americans have difficulty with the 't' sound when it's followed by a vowel. They then pronounce it like a 'd', i.e. 'water' is pronounced 'wader'; 'later' is pronounced 'lader'; 'twenty' is pronounced 'twenee', etc.

Americans have difficulty with the 't' sound when it's followed by a vowel. They then pronounce it like a 'd', i.e. 'water' is pronounced 'wader'; 'later' is pronounced 'lader'; 'twenty' is pronounced 'twenee', etc.

@electricrussell we don't have 'difficulty' with the 't' sound that is just the average American accent and how we say some words but you make it seem like we're all retarded! We speak fast so we don't always enunciate and the word rolls off the tongue easier that way.
