God I'd LOVE to see them play the Blue Note in Columbia, MO again on their limited midwest tour dates. Saw them at the old Blue Note back in the late 80's. AWESOME show. Bob even tried to get me laid by a big fat blonde!
Just bought tickets for the norwegian concert in Bergen April 2nd. Good to have them back on the road... Remember I gave Rich a cigarette while playing Drinking.. back in Oslo 86. Still smoking Rich ? Looking forward to hear the old songs...
This keeps getting better. The Rainmakers are being inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of fame March 11th. They will be one of several acts performing at the ceremony that night, being held at Liberty Hall in Lawrence. Tickets are $40 available at ticketmaster. No official US tour is posted on the website yet, but the Norway tour is set for part of March and April.
They're back!!!! Raimakers reunion this year. Bob, Pat and Rich are being joined by the talented Jeff Porter (he and Bob have been playing and recording together) for a reunion CD and tour in honor of the 25th anniversery of the debut album. There are several shows scheduled in Norway, and will be "some" midwest shows as well. May 14th the band will be at Knuckleheads in KC. Good luck beating us to the front that night. I am so pumped!
hadn't heard from this band since whenever, 87 or so when I bought their Rainmakers 'cassette'. Love it. Always remembered it. Thrilled to find these clips and to know they're still rockin'. In cool band in Iowa but wish they needed a good horn player.
@bettyboop2780 While the Rainmakers are no more, Bob can still be found playing weekly in KC with Jeff Porter (who's fantastic by the way). Ocassionally, Pat joins in on drums at select events. Bob and Jeff will be back in Maryville, MO on July 29th to talk about a mural Bob recently painted downtown and to play a free concert. Oh yeah...
@zeek971 Thank you zeek971 for that information! I still have the cassette that I special ordered after hearing it when a friend played it for me! :-) It still plays in my portable player!
@bettyboop2780 Don't hesitate to check out the Rainmakers other releases after the debut. The Good news and the Bad news is my favorite, but Tornado, Flirting with the Universe, and Skin are all great albums. Also the Walkenhort -Porter CD No Abandon is wonderful too.
Bob, Jeff, Pat and Garry played a great show at ST Joseph's Mayfest celebration last night. Sorry that it was raining as the crowd was very small, but those of us who appreciate great musicianship were more than happy to get a little wet to see these guys jam for an hour and half! Now I have to figure out how I can get them to play at our 25 wedding anniversy party next spring!!!
Ived like this band since this album first came out, awesome guitar work and lyrics, one of my favorite albums. Why are these guys sooo hard to find. Amazon copies of albums seem high and nothing on itunes. Too bad they really capture that midwest flare I love.
One of the best songs to come out of the 80's! Really evocative of the power of that churning, plowing river, musically speaking. And the nearly mythical history spawned in those waters make excellent lyrics that literally float along those power chords...
Love this band.First time i ever saw them was when they played the tube,Newcastle upon tyne,England, about 21 years ago.1 of the few bands that can still remind me of exact moments then, just by listening to a song.Still liked the top hat lead singer used to wear in the early days tho
This was filmed at the Uptown Theatre on Broadway. I went to school at NWMSU in Maryville when Bob was there. It's hard to imagine now how many people totally missed out on one of the best American bands ever assembled. This music is timeless.
Nice hair Kathy! The Rainmakers are just one of the most awesome bands ever! I'm luck to have seen them as much as I have! Go see Bob at The Record Bar in KCMO!
I can't post to every Rainmakers video cuz I am being restricted from frequent postings. Let this comment say it all: Thank-you kansasjhawkr! I would go anywhere to see Bob perform again. Definitely one of the greatest songwriters, voices and guitarists in rock. From a huge Bob and Rainmakers fan in Toronto.
Thank you for that information! My fiancee' went to school with Bob and I know he would love to see him again!! It is greatly appreciated! Happy 4th of July to you!! T

Caught this video on MTV when it still had some redeeming qualities. It might have been on 120 minutes, which was a great show. Cool tune.
