  • in south america there is something very similar to that called "alfajor" ^^

  • There is no real pie in Japan. The closest you will get is the pot pie they sell at KFC.

  • it doesnt look yummy lol...

  • Omg it's a moon pie!

  • @Nenoka382 It looks like it, but doesn't taste so much like it. But the one called Angel Pie tastes exactly like Moon Pie :)

  • its a moon pie...

  • Anyone know whether the Japanese one or the Korean one (Orion) was first?

I've been eating the Korean one for a really long time, but recently, a lot of copies have been popping up all over the place.

  • Aren't these the ones that they do all across Asia? I saw a news program about South Koreans sending huge balloons attached to stacks of Choco-pies over to North Korea as a gift, apparently the North Korean people love them and have been known to actually use them as a form of currency. I was amazed.

  • I would trade you a pie for one !

    Looks good !

  • mustve been a boston creme pie which is actually a large coconut cake i think...

  • our quest for a real pie continues hahahah omg epic

  • I bought choco pie the other day. it is limited sale choco pie, and name of the choco pie is "amaou choco pie ". it was choco pie sandwiches with amaou cream ( strawberry cream ) between.

    (・∀・)ノ

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom "Our quest for a real pie continues..." I ROFLMAO at that one.

when did a quest for pie start and when did we join in to search for a pie? O_o

  • The Pie was a lie.

  • ITS MOON PIE

  • looks a lot like a Moon Pie

  • Pie pie pie yay...

  • You know that choco pie is looks like a macaroon? Wired...

  • Choco party! GOOD GOOD!

  • lol i thought it was huge at first

  • make some pumpkin pie! :) or is that only an american thing?

  • DO you receive money from Korean Companies? lol

  • I thought that might've been a pretty decent size until you got your mits on it.

  • I'm curious as to why they call these pies. Is there some kind of translation confusion there, like they have with the hips/butt thing....because I could kind of understand that.

  • Interestingly enough, Lotte is a Korean company.

  • @edpark1911 That's a bit of a stretch. It was started by a Korean man living in Japan, and has its headquarters in Shinjuku, but most of its operations are in S.Korea.

  • lol, this pie quest is a serious quest for an Australian!

  • "our quest for a real pie continues..." ROFL

  • That looks like a moon pie! lol

  • looks good

  • You should make a "Pies that aren't really pies" playlist. At this rate you'll need one! xD

  • YUUMM

  • XD We have those choco pies in Taiwan too, it's just marshmallow in between. Delicious~

  • Moon pie by any other name is still a moonpie.

  • its a wagon wheel lol...

  • @Bobo411 Pretty much, yeah. xD

  • Yeah what they said....moonpie lol

  • Thank you for the video.

  • A cross between moon pie and mallowmars.

  • It reminds me of Wagon Wheels :)

  • @darkraven2116 wagon wheels remind me of choco pies XD

  • It looked big until you picked it up....its so small

  • @gohanDaniel1 Thought it was a chocolate-covered cheeseburger when he first unwrapped it.

  • same cookie? /watch?v=-3BcI9Jyzm0&feature=related

they have that in mexico under the name "mamut"

  • It reminds me of the woopie pie that we have here in the U.S..Maybe that was their inspiration for it.

  • It might not be a pie but it sure looks good to eat, i think the term "pie" is a lose iterpretation of a snak in Japan either way it's great.

  • I think it is an Alfajor

  • We have this in my country, idk how it's really called but god they're so damn good

  • In the US, this is a form of pie. Moonpie (being one of the more notable brands). Most often, when its this kind of "pie" one can expect it to be small, between cookie/cake hardness, some filling (mainly marshmallow based), and coated. So this fits the description.

  • In Argentina those are called alfajor, though the filling is usually dulce de leche yummmmmmmmyyyyy!!!

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom This is a Japanese version of the same Korean snack? o_O Looks the same aside from packaging, and yes this stuff is too tasty. =P

  • We call them tea cakes in good ol' England.

  • This... is not really a pie

  • I grew up in vietnam eating this. I'm now an ASU grad student. Great memories, thank you TheJapanChannelDcom!

  • two bickies with cream and chocolate! Yum :)

  • I love Chocopie! it's my fav snack!!

  • American Wagon Wheel!!

  • THE PIE IS A LIE! ok I'll go now.....

  • It's basically a moon pie...Haha, looks delicious.

  • it kinda looks like a moon pie only moon pie's have marshmallow rather then creme in the middle

  • Only an Oz is qualified to go on A Quest For A Real Pie!!! I happily await your next instalment!

  • looks like a moon pie

  • How would a Japanese person react to a real pie?

  • Looks exactly like a Wagon Wheel that we have here in North America...

  • Yes,as many in here say, this has its origin in moon pie.

  • Morinaga's "Angel Pie" sold since 1958

Lotte's "Choco Pie" since Sep.1983 FYI Lotte is South Korean Company established in Japan first, then established in South Korea too.

Well Angel Pie and Choco Pie have different tastes, have a try on "Angel Pie" next time! yum

  • I'd hate trying to find a real pie in Japan. Pie is an American and European specialty lol. Reminds me, Thanksgiving is happening in the states this week. You know the day where the purist came to America. befriended the Native Americans, then stole their land after the feast. Yeah...I'll get some pie that day :P I always like your vids.

  • Err why buy Lotte? If You Love Japan, please buy Japanese.

Morinaga is recommended.(the maker which sells almost the same item)

  • ロッテ不買

  • hmm, now I want to walk across the street and pickup a moon pie. Haven't had one in awhile. I remember when my grandfather would say, "back in my day after a hard days work for 50 cents we would get a moon pie and RC Cola"

  • In Louisiana, USA. we have something that looks just like that called a moon pie.

  • I've had a chocopie before!! They're soooooo good!!! xD

  • It looks a little like a treat in México called "MAMUT", I'm gonna go steal one from my nephews stash :p :D

  • That pie looked big until you grabbed it.

  • alfajor in spanish, you can get them EVERYWHERE

  • Also known as a "moon pie" for some reason..

  • I bought a box of those just a few days ago! There Good! ^ ^

  • This looks exactly like the American desert called "moon pie". Have you heard of it?

  • Got the in Belgium aswell in all sorts of different colors. I think someone in Belgium invented these.. would make sense since well chocolate and Belgium.. :)

  • we have oatmeal creme pies and moon pies here in the us that are very similar to that though i guess technically their not pies either. dessert sandwich might be a better name.

  • That looks like what we here in USA call a "moon pie" Still not a pie just a different name.

  • @ataylorai1 Oh how I love the Moon Pies! That's why I don't buy them, too tasty!

  • @ataylorai1 moon pies make me wanna vomit

  • @ataylorai1 Moon pie? I have never seen those, I've only seen choco pies.

  • Possibly my favorite snack in Japan. 😄

  • that looks delicious!!!!!

  • look a like a really chocletey oreo

  • Its like a whoopie pie.

  • yuuuum, i want one or 2 or 3 :)

  • Your moon pie looks better then our moon pies

  • The pie was a lie! And that makes me sad... :-(

  • It looks like a chocolate moon pie.

  • Can you bake?

If actual "pies" are so hard to come by in Japan, maybe they would be seen as a novelty if someone would sell them there. Could be a big hit.

  • Now I want to taste me some choco pie too T_T

  • Oh well here in the states we have two large wafers with marshmallow in between, covered in chocolate that is also very tasty, but it is called a Moon Pie.

  • Wow, that looked a lot bigger than it turned out to be, haha. They really do use the word "pie" quite loosely.

  • They sell these in Sheffield (UK) in the Chinese supermarket. I buy lhem lots. They are absolutely gorgeous!!

  • Looks like a fat Wagon Wheel.

  • @starblazers100 They taste like a wagon wheel, too! Ah, Wagon wheels, one of my childohood favourites!

  • @starblazers100 what's a wagon wheel?..what's it made of?...Here in the USA what he is showing in the video looks like a Moon pie..Here in the US it's 2 grahm crackers with a sticky marshmellow center..it's one of the best sellers here for kids or construction workers to take in there lunch box to work or school

  • @Midnightryder7 They are an Australian biscuit. Marshmellow and strawberry jam between two biscuits covered in chocolate.

  • the pie is a lie?

  • This looks like a job for Desperate Dan !!

  • do want

  • We're getting closer in the great Japanese pie expedition. This one had filling.

  • Reminds me of a moon pie. XD

  • nice

  • GIVE ME THAT COOKIE!

  • heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ggggguuyyyyyyyysssssss!!!!

  • Thats an alfajor!!!!

  • Looks like a Moon Pie.

  • That's a "Moon Pie".

  • NICE !! :) SALUDOS DE MEXICO

  • But it's not a pie , It's a Jos louis !! DUN DUN

  • Comment removed

  • I thought chocopie was originated in Korea? if so, than this is imported from Korea?

  • That looks JUST like a Moon Pie. Obviously not a pie either, but that's what they're called. I'm wondering if someone didn't come Stateside (or other countries that have them), tried one, liked it, then decided to make them in Japan and call them choco pies. I've never had one myself, maybe I should try one. :)

  • looked like a mini choco burger to me

  • The best way it's to do your own pie with whatever you want as a filling , since it seems in Japan is so hard to find a real pie.

It's almost Christmas and i can already smell the traditional pies and cookies made in my country.

This choco pie looks like a type of chocolate biscuits i have in my country.

  • <3 Lotte

  • they loook really tasty, but they aren´t that good imo.

  • It looks like a Moon Pie now all you need is an RC Cola and you would be set

  • Looks good!!!!damn I want one too bad I live in california T_T

  • Do you know that chocopie originated from Korea? :D

  • yummm

  • haha until you put your hand down to pick it up i thought it was huge

  • Are you looking for a cream pie ? You'd better check other web sites :p

  • So have you ever seen a REAL pie in Japan? o.o

    What about at those bakeries?

  • LOL the quest for a real pie

  • @TheTorrentz sounds likes a quest from skyrim.

  • looks like a waggonwheel.

  • In America we have those, we call them Moon Pies. It just doesn't fall under your definition as a pie.

  • I love those pies!

  • Looks like an "alfajor" from south america

  • I have a similar one here in my country, and it's veeeeeeeeeeery yummy!

  • looks like those waggonwheel treat things

  • it looks like a moon pie mmmmm

  • @K9LLL my thought exactly, well Jo Louis, but that's a chocolate covered chocolate cake with filling :P But yeah I agree with the Wagon Wheel!

  • It's a "sandwich pie".

  • Looks like a moon pie (Mardi Gras snack, I think?). Either way, these people need to quit wit their false advertising of 'pies'! :P

  • I thought the 'pie' was HUUUUGE but then you put your finger in the shot and I realized it was tiny. Aww.....

    heheh

Thanks for the upload! Looks so delicious!

  • @ShadesofScorpius I thought the same thing!

  • This is fantastic!

  • Looks a bit like a Marshmallow Tea Cake. ;) Yet..without the Marshmallow...and biscuit base...so really just the shape. XD

  • yummy

  • I will follow you on this quest for a legendary and legitimate pie in Japan! >:D

  • We have exactly the same thing in Russia! Love it XD

  • Bet that would go great with my coffee ;D

  • I love choco-pie! They are like really thick wagon-wheels.
