  • Why is this rated low its how o do it right

  • watch out something else may come out of hole. :)

  • Chattahoochee Technical College is a great technical school in which to learn a trade.

  • First put the pole through the hole then you need to grab a buddy.

  • can i add another socket through a socket?

  • keep pullin keep pullin keep pullin

  • Haha, he did sound like a candyass when he yelled to his partner.

  • Why don't you just start from the top and let it fall down?

  • @WackoX1337 because they have to pull it through the holes they drilled in the wood frames

  • haha good catch fucking hilarious

  • Oh my god Mr. obvious can you explain something more useful like hooking up the damn thing.

  • Ehh...

That was the most half assed attempt of attaching a cable to a fishing hook I have ever seen in my life.

Bad video again by expert village.

  • this guy needs to crawl back inside his mothers vagina and cook a little longer

  • All inspectors think their pros( no matter what their inspectors of.) Super hilarious, guy is bi polar!

  • keep pulling hahaha

  • Wow this guy is stupid!

  • haha its the same wall, guys got proplems talking to a wall

  • i wannna punch this guy in the face

  • Nice ad by GE at the beginning. Please remind me how much stimulus money GE got from the FED?

  • you love how he pushed it up himself haha

  • @steveo928 I figured he was, haha He's talking to himself pushing it up.

  • Why the fuck is Expert Village so goddamn useless??

  • Any retard can push a rod through a 5 ft space. Maybe a video about how he cut the hole on top and bottom exactly where they needed to be would have been more interesting. Or maybe how to get a wire from the basement to the attic in a 70 year old house. Maybe, just stop making videos altogether. No really, this guy probably knows something pretty cool, and you guys make him do a video about pushing a stick in a hole. That just makes me mad thinking about it.

  • This type of information shouldnt be on the internet. 1) Because its incorrect. 2) because if done incorrectly it could cause serious accident. 3) Certian is missing from this video.

  • this guy has a masters in mechanical engineering and is doing laborers work? lol loser.

  • This guy is an ass-clown

  • rule number one to become an electrician dont sound like a pussy when screaming to you friend

  • Okay, this is a great example of why our new Mille-Rod Polymer series makes more sense than the fish rod this gentleman is using. He could have used a Glow Rod (easier to see), or used a magnet and chain to go from the top to bottom instead. Or used the new Double Magnet to grab it from the top more easily.

  • How'd you like to be a helper to a guy who talks like this guy on the jobsite all day. I guess he would fire me the first time I say "quit the exaggerated yelling, the house ain't even got walls, I can hear your ass!"

  • he's wacking it at 2:28

  • KEEP PULLIN!

  • Man, expertvillage videos are terrible.

  • He's probely got some gibrony on the other side of the wall to make the video. this gay basterd hasen't done jackshit in an attic before i promise you that shit. Hey look at me guys it took only 5 minutes.

  • mmm....my advise to people watchin dis.. donot install any inwall electrical wiring or outlets yourself or risk getting shocked. and donot yell like the dude in this video if you really do so, it just sounds gay ass.

  • Hmmm... Lack of common sense kills... He was telling the other guy to pull the wire down a little bit while his hand was inside the wall with a FISH HOOK!!!

  • @nicelogin2 it wasnt a fish hook it was a pole

  • leave electrical work to the liscensed electricians- stick to home inspections- you are not a qualified electrician- you are a hack wanna be- may be electricians should start doing home inspections and taking business away from half assed home inspectors like yourself- we probably know more about home construction than you !!!!

  • "Keep Pullin Keep Pullin Keep Pullin"

*Guy Pullin* "STFU! I'll pull until I get it on my end ! Annoying old fart ! "

  • wee all need buddies... ok push it up through the hole

  • What a tosser!

  • yup! keep pulling!

  • Why would you not push your fish tape up a hole to your cutout? Would you instead push it down and hope to hit your drilled hole from below? Am I missing something here? Been doing this since 66, master electrician, licensed contractor in Wi.

  • No dude, he sends the "HOOK" fitting up, which is pretty rookie. Far too many things for you to get hung up on in a wall, especially plaster mesh, wood slats in older houses. THE HOOK PART.

Of course you push the glow rod up the hole. But you dont need to pull your wire down and risk damaging the box cut out either. You connect the wire from below, and pull it up through the hole, nice and smooth. Effortless, and a solo job.

  • Furthermore, I looked up this dude's license... he has no electrical license. Only a mechanical license in the state of mass. No Home Inspection license either.

Just go the mass state's license division and look him up. You wont find a license for Electrical, or for Home Inspections....

So exactly where does that term "Master Home Inspector" come from dude?

  • He should stick to his full time job. I was a green apprentice when I rolled tape like that. Nothing wrong with #14 wire in the right application. (general lighting etc)

  • Application is irrelevant, it's the ampacity of the load...but you're a master electrician, who needs the NEC.

  • The sheetrock is untaped and still has the screws showing. He should of just unscrewed the sheet.

  • If I wasn't an Electrician I would have no idea what the F$@# this guy is talking about. This is not an ideal video for the "do-it-yourself" type. Yeah, it looks simple enough but half the of drywall is freakin' missing!

  • If he'd use the pulling eye that came with the Greenlee fish pole kit it'd be easier. Using an open ended hook is not the way to go. And using #14 wire? No real electrician would pull that in a house.

  • i agree with u. 14 gauge wire is just a waste of time.

  • @MasterSparkEE LOL. #14 is what is used in a majority of homes for branch circuit wiring of outlets and lighting. Almost every home in the US is wired with it. The only ones that aren't are the ones that have specified #12 20A circuits for branch circuits in the drawings--and they're usually only spec or custom homes.

#14 is cheaper than #12, that's why. You can still get 8 outlets on a 15A circuit. If you were really a Master, you'd know that.

  • @russdonruss I think he meant in your own home. Like if I'm pulling wire through my house, it's always #12 also. If I replace something, its always with #12 or #10. If given any chance to do so, I get rid of the #14.

  • @russdonruss I question your statement that most are wired that way. Can you substantiate that claim iwth facts?

Cheaper is not better, if you were older you'd know that. Some municipalities have a #12 minimum.

  • I'm a licensed plumber and work as a fulltime electrician.lol

  • Try doing this on an exterior insulated wall with plaster and lathe from the basement to the attic by your self! I do it every day

  • This guy doesn't know how to brew a pot of coffee

  • im a asshole i dont have freinds.

  • please keep your shitty comments to yourself, why dont you make your own video if you say you know more shit!!!

  • wow this guy doesnt know jack shit

  • better use walkie talkie for comm

  • Comment removed

  • Easy, I used to do that kind of stuff... Of coarse my job was to drill holes in the beams, and to run the wires threw the holes in the beams. Then Run the wire to the basement to the panel box, ... Easy as pie. The only hard part is drilling the holes in the beams, and catching a knot in the beam, and then having my knuckles get smashed against the wall, lol.

Nice video... An Electricians helper I was. for a short time. That was about what.... 4 - 6 years ago, easy work.

  • NEVER DRILL THROUGH A BEAM!

There are a few things done wrong here. I will wxplain soon -no time now.

  • Every insult i hear makes me feel better, keep um coming, thanks!

  • That's fine jackleg, you insulted me first and let your alligator mouth overrun your parakeet ass.

I suggest you think before just opening up your gums next time.

  • MORE MORE!!!

  • Why on earth would he waste his time like this? Just tape theromex to the glow rod and pull straight through.

You dont send the hook up a hole, that's the dumbest thing ever, and easiest way to lose a hook when you can bring it back down the hole.

    This dude is a rookie

  • ppl like u why there are bad wireing house fires, everyones motto should be, " if your going to do it, do it right the first time"

  • LOL I love this! look guys doing the work in the field is important, it will get you experience and help develop quality workmanship. But with out being trained in electrical theory, you won't understand the reason of the code your a following.exemple ! what is the controlled path of an electrical circuit? get back with me when you think you know the answer!!

  • KEEP PULLIN KEEP PULLIN KEEP PULLIN

  • your right, i dnt kno the building code, but i do kno the national electrical code. so i think tht counts as somthing. nd putting up drywall isnt elecrical work, just sayin.

  • 1. my friend showed me this cuz of how tha guys pulling the wire to himself. 2. ive put in more outlets, different sizes and types, than uwould ever think of installing.

  • Well I'm 2 years old and I wired every house on my block.

PS: My tech school is better than yours and that's why I can "actually" spell "accually."

  • that is not how u snake wire.horrible tape job he didnt even strip the wire far back enough

  • Push it through the hole...lol

  • LOL

  • @nippleberrysunshine THATS WHAT SHE SAID

  • i can c u pullin the wire to urself, nice job =]

  • Why does the tape have to be black? He's getting all racial now.

  • yea trusting expertvillage to do electrical is like trusting them to play william tell and they get he gun

  • That's so funny how he was enacting that by himself :)

  • that was extremely painful to watch

  • Let see him do it by himself.

  • no safety glasses? my friends dad lost his eye when he was young as a helper .running wire.

  • sounds like a retard

  • The guy is a home inspector...why is he showing people how to "wire" their house? Home Inspectors are not allowed to do electrical work in my state.

  • @j82b Anyone should know how and can wire your own house. You can actually do a lot of stuff by yourself instead of paying people to do it. Having skills is better than paying someone to have it by yourself.

  • @JapaneseModernist And having a house that is not a potential death trap is worth the money you invest in a certified person to do the job every day. Many people see videos like these and think they know it all, and if they mess it up they are lucky if they are still able to call someone to redo it. :-/

  • @NoirNG Obviously someone shouldn't wire their own houses completely. Especially the complicated parts but just passing one or 2 wires or installing an additional outlet is extremely easy and should be done by anyone. I mean, I just think people are being too scared to do things that are really easy and safe sometimes. It is how people think that all chinese products will explode and burn your houses. It is just a myth. any brand product is made in china anyway.

  • @j82b im pretty sure they are aloud to wire through the walls....

not connect the wire to anything

  • @j82b You're such a douche.

  • @ProphetOdeth agreed

  • oh no... expert village dont do it!!! your house is at risk of electrical fire!!!

  • I find it better to make a solid loop on the end of the fish stick, and take your cable and leave both conductors about 6" long and cut the ground out then stick both threw the loop on the fish stick in opposite directions then tape them starting on the fish stick on your way back nice and tight back to your cable. Having a small head makes all the difference. I agree him talking to himself is hillarious!

  • You actually said something useful. Wish everyone else would. Thanks!

  • Waste of 30 seconds

  • Found this hard to take seriously, the way he kept shouting at himself had me in stitches.

  • I don't think he was shouting at himself. I think he really had an assistant down there pulling the wire.

  • Just to point out. at 1:40 the fake fire blocking Fall! kinda funny. I'm a CA cert Electrician and have done way to many remodels where the homeowner thought it was a good idea to run wire. its kind of a sad to come back through and see what these people think is acceptable. wiring is not "out of sight, out of mind".

  • It is until they're standing out in the driveway staring at a large Orange glow in the sky, also seen from miles away. :O)

  • wth?

  • I'm glad I don't do this shit anymore.

  • Oh, why so?

  • fuckin tool..

  • stupid fuckin tosser

  • Attn. All:

This guy needs to go fishing,

    for fish, not wires.

Did he mention his inspectors license #?

Does he have an electrical license?

    How about wearing some P.P.E.?

  • just siding with the contractor/employer. You fail to have any perspective on the matter, and your opinion is evident of that. The way in which you try to demonise tradesman, or anybody with services to offer. A contractor did not choose to be a contractor in order to provide people with JOBS, they did it to earn MONEY. They're out for themselves, just how everybody else is. It's a very simple concept, and you obviously have NO experience in the matter. Grow up, and experience reality.

  • But, according to your argument, what business owners are willing to pay should be the maximum amount a worker should get? You fail to see the inherent unfairness in that?

I like how you try to belittle the worker, "common tradesman", and place the employer on a pedestal. The fact somebody followed the blueprints to starting a business, doesn't make them a genius. Are you telling me a contractor is more intelligent than the engineer he hires? EVERYBODY is out to make a buck, and you're...

  • Unions don't ask for MORE money than they deserve, they ESTABLISH what the proper rates should be. Business owners do NOT go out of business after hiring union labor, otherwise unions would hold 0% of the market share. If you knew ANYTHING about economics, let alone the United States' economy, you would know a large portion of the market share is held by UNION LABOR. Every business has the right to NOT hire organized labor, and many of them are successful...

  • You're trying to come off as informed, and you're failing miserably. It's human nature to take as much as possible, and that is the creedo of business owners. To make as much money as possible, which means paying as little in labor as they can. I don't fault them for it, and nobody should. It is the workers right to seek out the same thing, as much money as they can get. Unions just level the playing field, and allow the worker to get what they deserve.

  • Maggie Thatcher would love you! LoL

  • Unions prevent the worker from being dictated to, and controlled, by the employer. It's a collective front against the dictator style of governing that employers have utilized for thousands of years. It ensures everybody is treated fairly, and that at the end of the day, both sides get what they want. These are more than talking points, these are actual facts. They're LOGICAL facts, you have no provided ONE argument that was applicable and logical. WHy don't you work on that, and THEN repost.

  • As far as my opinion on unions, I've provided you with something you're not going to get on a propoganda based website. I've provided you with actual experiences, and real life knowledge on the subject. I've explained CLEARLY HOW unions positively affect the worker and the employer, and I've patiently waited for you to post a counter to it. Instead of resorting to name calling, and name calling that doesn't even apply at that. This country was based on people getting fed up with being controlled

  • You're implying I DON'T read? When you clearly lack fundamental reading comprehension skills. I can run down a list of buzz name authors that I READ books by. From Chomsky to Upski.

As far as studying unions, NOTHING you have said represents any formal education on the subject. As far as LOGICAL ideas goes, how are unions illogical? Explain to me HOW they negatively affect workers, employers, or whoever. With all your extensive university learning, you should be able to answer that.

  • As far as being capable of stringing sentences together, I also have the ability to READ them. Apparently it is you who can't read. Unless your name is "LEW ROCKWELL", I never called you self-righteous. I called you a TOOL, somebody who is easily influenced by propoganda, and manipulated for somebody else's agenda. I stand by that assertion.

You haven't studied unions and their effect on economy, you read some douche bag's opinion on a website. That's hardly being receptive, and open.

  • You seem to be confusing unions with governmental bodies. Unions do NOT dictate to their members, it's vice versa. There are FEW leaders, and they rotate often, and are voted in by members on a local level. As far as changes to policies, NOTHING is decided by officials, EVERYTHING comes to a vote at the individual local union halls by due paying members. Even apprentices can vote after a short probationary period, during a time which they're not required to pay dues.

  • The COMMON good that unions fight for is adequate wages for the worker, and safe conditions. I suppose you believe in the idea of 8 year olds making shoes in 3rd world countries, and men and women working themselves to early graves in japan? Unions simply work to ensure that the worker is not taken advantage of, and is treated fairly. In turn unions self-police themselves, and DEMAND that the quality of their work is high. The same systems are not set in place in non-union outfits..some, not all

  • I was union for 13 years until I went into my own business. Couldn't be union (1984) because I was a one man shop. They are set up to screw us out of the pension we earned and always work against the employer. And yes, I do get upset when a journeyman that is getting the same pay as I am has to be told how to do his job. That is a union worker, trained by the union, and guaranteed the same pay as I was no matter how many classes he skipped. Been on both sides and will stay nonunion.

  • You are false on both fronts. How do unions work to cheat their members out of their pensions? My local, and those I've worked out of from NJ to IN have looked after their retired brothers. Unions work hand in hand with the shops, the NJATC is primarily operated by NECA members. Collective bargaining is not working against contractors, it's ensuring workers get paid what they deserve.

  • I don't know what kind of apprenticeship you have out their in WI, but the NJATC allows only 3 missed days per year without penalty, and 5 before you're out of the program. You have to attend EVERY seminar, and every meeting. You were from a different era, things are different now.

  • The only thing that you have a point on, is that we all get paid the same regardless of ability, but the stricter apprenticeship program, along with the Code of Excellence standards, are weeding out these kind of members. Sorry that you had such a poor experience in the union...but your opinion is over 25 years old. A LOT of things have changed in 25 years.

  • @electRon330 and how is that relevant to this video?

  • I don't have a link to my articles, there are no articles I referenced. You see, unlike yourself, I base my opinions on actual experience. Not some propoganda filled website written by a self-righteous douche bag. You're a tool, nothing more. Unions bridge the gap between the worker, and the employer. It's not beauracracy, it's a necessity in life. There has to be a line of communication in order for everybody's best interests to be looked out for.

  • As far as the quality of Union work, it's self-evident. Unions would NOT get any work when they're underbid, unless the quality of their work is better. Employers prefer to pay more to have a job done once correctly, than pay less for it to be done multiple times, and in an unsatisfactory manner. The market share of unions is steadily increasing on the west coast, and in the mid-west. It has remained high on the east coast. Unions are regaining, and maintaining the market share.

  • Union workers, 90% of the time, have to sign anti-strike clauses when working out a labor agreement. The department of labor and industry works with the contractor, who works with the client. If unions were so bad for everybody, they wouldn't exist. This isn't a mafia movie, and the "Hoffa" era is over. Get a clue.

  • tradesman get paid what they deserve, and the employer receives quality craftmanship. Unions require rigorous on the job training, as well as many hours of school. The MINIMUM amount of time to become a journeyman electrician is 5 years training. Which includes 2, 3 hour classes a week for 10 months, with mandatory minimum 80% scores or you are dropped from the program. Unions protect the worker, ensure the employer the job is done right, and helps the worker receive the wages he deserves.

  • Working conditions HAVE improved, and that is because of union workers FORCING them to. The only real threats on a construction site, are NON-union workers who aren't forced to follow safety regulations. For a union electrician to even get on most job sites, he has to have a pocket full of safety cards. From OSHA 30, to the NFPA 70E. Unions directly affect their wages based on market share. The larger percentage of the market that is controlled by the unions, the higher the wages. Which means...

  • You can regurgitate garbage you googled all day, or propoganda from a website. It's blatantly obvious you are not a construction worker in america, so you are not in position to criticise. Unions are the ONLY method to increase wages for their workers. The only thing stifling the increase in wages, are people willing to work for less. Violence is NOT condoned, in fact, local union halls have ORGANISERS who try to persuade the non-union workers to join.

  • Looks like somebody doesn't comprehend organized labor. Unions are as ANTI-communist as you can get. Unions are the EMBODIMENT of DEMOCRACY. You're a fool, and obviously incapable of rational, let alone intelligent thought.

  • What an idiot.

  • you're all a bunch of non-union rezzy pukes. Who are you to criticise anyone if you're not even Organized? Granted, the guy was a moron. Look how awkward he looked wrapping the tape on the head. Seriously though, if any of you jack bones showed up on an industrial job, YOU would be the ones getting clowned, and corrected.

  • I have been an electrician for over 16 years now and have to admit that this just confirms that the old saying " Those who can't teach and those who can cheat.". I have seen your videos and I have to admit that you give my trade a bad name. Leave the electrical installations to us PROFESSIONALS. I hope that you are a better inspector than you are an electrician.

  • Never strip the cable (not wire), before you feed it down. "Connecting" to a fishing pole? A little to complex for something so simple :P

  • Why not? As long as you tape up the plastic jacket and/or wire insulation, snagging will not be a problem.

  • Yeah, but what's the point? The reason for feeding cables down first, is because you make a "first fix", THEN you strip and terminate, that's your "second fix", it's just the way it's done. I have never seen this method before in my life.

  • Please explain to us the best way to attach the cable to the fish tape prior to pulling. I'm sure he did it that way to decrease your chances of the cable getting stuck or snagging on something along the way. No offense taken, we are all students willing to learn different ways.

  • Personally, I don't use a fishing pole. A drop wire and a weight, or a snake is the best to use. Snakes are especially the most efficient to utilize when running cable through conduit. I would use tape also, but I would not strip the sheath from the cable before feeding it down behind the wall. Once all your cables are in (first fix), then you can proceed to strip the cable and wires, and then subsequently terminate the wires (second fix). This is just the way I am most familiar with.

  • Anyway, this guy, even when he did tape the cable to the fishing pole - he didn't make a very good "connection". You can see it; the tape isn't very flat when attached.

  • romex not cable? =D

  • you should of ran the wire down in the open bay to the right then drilled a hole in the beam to the right of the outlet location. Then you dont need a "Buddie" or a snake. Stick to inspecting.

  • This is just staged for the purpose of demonstration. Are you that naive?

  • well then he should of deminstrated practical work ethics. I see not everyone is as productive as me :)
