@Ramel34 As I understand it Atlantis 2 was a special version of Atlantis used in a contest. Basically it was the same game only programmed to be harder and faster. It's one of the rarest Atari2600 games (since it was only used for that tournament) so it goes for a lot of money even though it's only a slightly modified version of the original. If you want to play it though it's Available on the Activision Anthology which is pretty cheap these days.

I remember playing this game back in the day and never played it again. I would play this game for hours and got very good at it. So much so that after a long battles all that was sent down was the small nucular craft that would cause a blinding flash on the screan when distroyed. That was the last thing I remembered when I came to with a massive headach. I have not played it since and with good reason. Also I proved that I was good enough to defend Atlantis. Plato would be proud.

@BADBOYCH -It's nice to be good at a game that gets hard fast. It's funny how everybody has different opionions about games. Never liked this or Cosmic Arc,think I threw away not sure. This to me was boring and hard,and C.A. was just plain hard to be great at. This game was like you had little control with the stationary bases,and it just felt like you were just arbitrarily firing away with no purpose. Yet,I liked horizontal firing games like Defender,Chopper Command,and Sea Quest ect.

Why there are numerous ones attacking Atlantis in spaceships is far beyond me.

So if you pick up a copy of this game today and get wiped out almost immediatly you just might have a jem in your collection!!! I don't remember if their are any distinguishing differences in the original and the more difficult one. I'm told you would just know the difference in the difficulty.

Back in the day top players of Atlantis were told to submit their scores to Atari and the best of the best were invited to compete with each other in an Atlantis championship!! A SPECIAL amped up version of the game was designed for these expert players. So many of these players would max out the score and you couldn't tell who really was the best. That's why they made the new, much more difficult game.

I don't think Pole Position would've made a good prequel to Centipede. However, Combat, Gunslinger, and Breakout might've worked quite well (often just made Atari games part of my own storyline as a kid, playing different ones back-to-back)
