  • Anyway, Son sang from the heart, he wrote lyrics down but most of it came from what he was feeling man, he shares lyrics in his songs because in the end they all tell his story.

  • thats not the original

  • thanks for putting this on!

  • u need a usb record player that converts them to mp3 dude, this sounds like shit

  • take it or leave it dude

  • Hey man, what record is this?

  • Library of Congress recordings, 1941-42, by Alan Lomax

  • shunned for life

  • Vinyl has a MUCH broader range of sound frequencies than CDs or MP3s.

  • @UJS8X that's why there are uncompressed file formats like flac. But the vinyl is cooler and it's not digital.

  • @colemckelvie you are a choad!

  • Awesome, man! I can't wait to learn to sing and play this on the guitar!

  • nice post... thanks... lomax was key to this music surviving... son house=real deal...

  • The lyrics in Death Letter are almost identical to My Black Mama Pt. 2 without the first verse.

  • you got it mixed up, son! death letter came out before walking blues.

  • What year did Death Letter come out in?

  • 'Death Letter' was the signature song of Son House and later, parts of it were incorporated in Robert Johnson's song 'Walking Blues'. Some accounts describe House has been playing in public before Johnson. But after disappearing for a few years, Johnson came out a lot more skillful.

  • They arent talking about Johnsons walking blues, but Son House's walkin blues, which was indeed recorded prior to Death Letter...

  • he mixed and matched lyrics on all his songs. this is walkin' blues. wonderful!

  • yeah definatly, its a verry bluesy thing to do.. for example, alot of the lyrics from My Black Momma Pt.2 are also in this AND death letter... i think its all just a matter of what blues he has while he plays, and what kind've riffs he's getting into... some songs might sound completley different but if he's got some similar blues he'll sing lyrics from a different song- its a verry common practice found in the country blues genre

  • True, true...we were blessed by God Himself with Son House!

  • Wonderful!

  • thanks for posting. cool =D

  • oh , i do know this song,

cept; that i listend to the 1965 sessions first then his orignal lp, and i cant look back. I love country blues though,

that song shivers down my spine..

  • yeah i was the opposite...got into his '31 recordings, then this record, ...then later his 60's sessions
