By the way I'm 15, my sister is 6 and my mom was 47 sos my dad. And even after 23 years of that if my dad can still go to mass every Sunday and thank and praise god so can anyone. She was his life since they met at 17 and married at 19.
And I just want to say on other thing and I really mean no offense but dude they ain't no atheist in a fox hole.
My friend's mom is very ill at the moment aswel, and when I see my friend, I can see the pain in her eyes. I can't start to imagine what it would feel like to have such horror so close to you.

yes, because all non-believer families are like this. religion does NOT make the person. A christian is not automatically a good person. While i find the message against child abuse touching and important, I resent his assumption that the parents being non-believers would somehow make them more likely to be child abusers. And if he didn't think that why would he put it in the song? And if anything, extremely religious parents are more likely to abuse their kids because the bible calls for corporal punishment.

@blackbloodist lol I remember feeling like that about this song at one time. I also almost went crazy trying to figure out who Alyssa lies, and the dollar. All three are incredible songs about kids, two about abuse and one about how a child can seriously feel if the parent works all day everyday. Anyway, do you know any good songs about kids? This song is not meant to insult the non-religious. I myself am not religious, and neither are my parents. I've never been to Church other than funerals and a wedding, I simply find the basic message against child abuse touching, and think him a good singer. @deiana101 I completely agree. I do not see this song as meant to disrespect any persons particular faith or lack there of. I see it as meant to open peoples eyes about child abuse. Because even though a child may never be hit, neglect is still abuse. And that is what I believe this song is about.
And not only am I not religious, I also hate country music and think this song has a good message.
