@davitodude It's a decency thing. Next of kin are usually notified of the death before the names are released to the public. It's bad enough to find out your kid/parent is dead. It's even worse to find out from the news. Chances are that since the news station had the name, next of kin were probably notified. The scriptwriter probably forgot to take out the "no name is being released yet" part after adding in the name, instead of the other way around.

I work in tv and we've had these things happen before, where the anchor contradicts himself reading the prompter. It's usually due to it being an ongoing story that is being updated by someone in the newsroom as it develops. The name was witheld previously, I believe, and then someone added that bit to the front about the name having just been revealed - to make the story more current and up to date - but forgot to take out the earlier part where it said it had yet to happen.
