@drutter I would, but they wouldn't fit in a jar. Not unless I chopped em up into little pieces, but that would totally defeat the purpose. I'm sure I could lure a few with my food when the store shelves are bare, lol.
@gasdorf I can say it, and you will have plenty of pussy dude. The golddiggers of today will be the FOODDIGGERS of tomorrow. You'll have tons of chicks!!
Shouldn't they be kept out of the light? You canning some weed? I would imagine that the prices would soar in a economic meltdown. Problem is you would eat all that food when you get the munchies. The ending is the best!
@anyonefindAMERICA1 I keep them in the cupboard. I don't plan on stocking up on weed, but I have a shitload of seeds just in case. My sister has a greenthumb.
@marakabi Thank you Mara!! The only rules I didn't follow is that I didn't heat the jars, just the lids. And after an hour and a half I turned the heat off and went to bed without waiting for the canner to depressurize. I woke up and took the jars out before I went to work. I flavored all of them with a few different spices. I would like to open one up and do a taste test, but I'd rather save them for later when I'll need them. I'm sure they'll taste just fine.
@JOHNNYH8STHENWO Unfortunately found out that the only coffee that stores real good is beans anad unroasted ones at that. Look on Google..co -ops for unroasted beans in 50 lb hemp type bags.
Dude...if you live in the same area as me I'd totally hang out and drink with you. Well done! Just make sure not to be too drunk when you're canning...and if you are when you go to eat the contents if the top of the jar pops back out throw it out!
@chuska8383 Right on!! I live in upstate New York, about an hour north of Albany. If you're in the area let me know. I don't get too drunk when I'm canning. I would be afraid of passing out and burning the house down, lol.
@waldentree Thank you!! I agree, can't eat silver. If I spent as much on food as I did on silver I wouldn't have enough room in my apartment for it all, but I'm focusing more on food storage nowadays then I am on stacking, but I'm still stacking a little bit here and there.
@FriarTuck1961 I thought about that, but I'm not the only one who's going to be eating it, and I think I could safely eat the leftover meat the next day. If I'm hungry enough I'm sure it won't matter too much.
@jimbobubbadj I bought them at Walmart. I hate shopping there but I don't have a license and Walmart is on my way home from work. They got everything you need for canning there.
@Indiansmoke1 I thought about doing that. I have a bag of rice that's over a year old and it turned yellow from oxidation. I'm sure I won't care when I'm hungry enough.
@wideawake73 Thank you!! So are you. I envy you, you have all those trees coming in and I don't have enough yard to plant a garden, but I'm going to try growing some stuff where there is room.
i betcha everyone who watches this vid wishes you were their neighbour....i betcha my neighbours wish i would stop givem videos about economic collapse....lol.
@681observer Personally, I wish I didn't have any neighbors because they're all going to become liabilities when they have no food. Your neighbors are going to wish they listened to you. Are they stocking up too?
hahahaha Cannin' my silver too. LOL Cool man, I can veggies and fruits. No meats....yet. Right now the U.S. in eating steaks and China is eating rice, but not for long! But rice is good, it's cheap! Good video, thanks for metioning my name in your vid!
@SILVERpeasant1996 No problem!! I'm gonna start canning vegetables here pretty soon. Rice is cheap for now, and it's probably the best bang for your buck. 12 bucks for a 20 pound bag, that's a pretty good deal to me.
What's really weird is when I was at the grocery store they had a lot more canning supplies than they usually do. There are some other signs things are up. Shelf stable milk has not been on the shelves for 3 weeks. You're better stocked than most folks, I've got a couple of top ramen, three cans of sardines, and four jars of baby food for the possum. The rest of it is in cigarettes, coffee, and booze, you know the basics.
@acuriousbeast LOL!! cigarettes, coffee and booze? You're gonna be a very popular guy Philip!!
I buy my canning stuff at Walmart, as much as I hate shopping there, but it's the only place I know that has that stuff, and it's right there on my way home from work, and since I don't have a license I can't really shop around without paying an arm and a leg for cab fare. I think canning supplies will become quite valuable in the future.
Ive put silver in jars, but ive never sealed it in a canner. Super nice video, Im thinking that silver should have a "shelf life" of at least 30 years! The rice will probably run out before then.... :)
Amazing work Johnny, I am impressed as always, I plan to get canning soon, probably just meats as well, there are plently of vegetables in jars and cans already out there in the store to buy, but the meat is where savings are really going to count, I can hardly afford it already, so in a years time I stand no chance, the clock is ticking.
I'm going to be canning vegetables too, but I wanted to start with the pressure canner. Open bath canning doesn't take as long as pressure canning, so I can can about 3 times as many quarts in the same time as it takes to can meats. It's actually pretty fun too.
You remind me of Brad Dourif for some reason. You have the voice and intensity, passion. With the laugh.... You would have made a great Joker in Batman: Dark Knight. :)
Rise is great for storing and nutrition, cheap. You can mix it with about anything or just eat it.
Looking forward to canning food from my garden. Planted some grape vines so maybe some jams/jellies. Jars are cheap, Dollar Tree here has them for $1.08 with tax (2 pints).
@deadman12078 LOL!! SILVERpeasant said something similar about the Joker. I've been buying quart jars for about 12 bucks per dozen. I wish I had enough yard to plant a garden. I'm definately going to be canning a lot of vegetables.
so they cut off the water to the Garden Spot of the World...CA. The farmland along the Mississipi is gone. It is a super late planting season already...so much rain.
Shipping is slowed along the Mississippi, Gas goes Higher and hurts Trucking, everything especially imports will get super expensive soon. Stock up, can if you can.
