Having been in a studio many times, I think even though the song is called fader, what he's singing in that line is 'fade in, fade out', which is what one does with a 'fader' in a studio. For those who don't know, a fader is just a volume controller. Since he says he's in transit anyway, like all of us, he faded in at birth, and will fade out upon death. The lyrics have enormous appeal to the gnostic and even the song itself is a microcosm of life, as it is born, then fades out. Just my opinion.
